This book was required for me to read in 11th grade and it is the reason I fell in love with reading books today. Kindred has always been an incredible novel. I remembered trying to look for a movie while we were reading this book as a class. Shout out to Ms. Vinnik! I will never forget reading this in her class and being able to watch the series now. :)

I was in solitary confinement the first time I read this book and the intricate details of her experience made me kind've astroplane and completely forget I was in a cell until I was finished reading.
Been out 6yrs now and I am doing good now, but I could never for get this book.

Hi, it was the comments on the original trailer said that this show is based on a book. I was captivated by the trailer, I went out and bought the book at B&N. Im current on the second chapter “The Fire” and omfghkskhs this book is so far so GOOOOOOD!! I don’t plan on watching the show until I finish the book which should be within the next 24 to 48 hours😂😅 I can’t put it this down. Have a nice day💜💜

Holy....I love Octavia Butler. I cannot wait to see this. I hope they make her other books she is incredible. Parable of the Sower would be awesome but Wild seed would be amazing to see on screen.
Parable of the Talents, Parable of the Sower, and likely Fledgling would translate well to screen. Wildseed too.
Wild Seed was the first Butler novel I read. I've been hooked every since!
I loved this book, I'm very excited to see the adaptation! Such a hard read but so powerful.
My advice is don't watch season one until another network comes up with season two (the show was canceled). The season was great but end like stopping halfway through a movie.

I watched this today and loved it !!! so disappointed it was canned. networks never seem to give shows a chance before cancelling these days . I have come across so many shows with only a season or 2 that are actually great shows

I watched the first episode and did not stop until I finished the show, it’s that good. Basically didn’t go to bed until it was over, no regrets. Amazing!!! Just wishing I read the book/ was told about it. Will be looking for the book soon. Thx Hulu for having these very uncomfortable at times (for some) but necessary shows in my opinion. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

WHAT?! One of the BEST books. Butler was ahead of the game on so many ways. Not only was she a WOMAN writing sci-fi in the SEVENTIES, she was a Black woman too. She was and is one of the best writers. If you haven’t read any of her books, this is the perfect one to start with!

Ever since I read the book back I’m high school I always wanted this to be a movie and finally found it as a movie I’m just overwhelmed with joy.
I know alot of my blk history, but I have to admit, this must have been the only time I've felt bad for a white guy (Kevin) during the 19th Century. Great Show!
I don't think this show captured the genius of the novel. It needed a bigger budget and a better creative team.

Wow I am absolutely amazed they have made this amazing book in a series! I remember 3 years ago hearing about the movie ANTEBELLUM and thinking it was based on this book! I was excited until I saw it and realized it wasn’t at all. Then a movie came out called KINDRED and again I got excited, but it was the same results as ANTEBELLUM.
At age 13 while getting my hair done at a salon, one of the ladies there saw me reading Clive Barker and suggested I try Octavia Butler, that it was like sci-fi with a dash of horror. She then gave me the book saying it was mine. I read the book and was sucked right into the world of Dana. I just wish my mom was still alive to enjoy this series with me. When I read it I remember trying so hard to tell my mom what it was about, I tried really really hard to explain it but knew I wasn’t doing the book any kind of justice lol. This book being made into a movie has been a long time coming, I just hope they correctly bring it to life.

SEASON 2! Seriously, this is one of my favorite books and due to a lack of advertising (baddies and love and him hop have better marketing) I knew NOTHING about this show until yesterday. We need season 2. The cancellation of this show feels just like the WGN cancellation of Underground. 😡 I can think of so many shows with less substance that have sustained.

It's kinda useless watching fx shows when they keep cancelling after 1season. This one hurts. Hope a different network takes it over and make it work.
Saw the pilot episode as part of a test audience awhile back, really enjoyed it. There was some things to critique, but not major things. I can't wait to see if they changed up the 1st episode a bit after all the feedback. But overall it was really interesting/captivating so I'm excited for this to finally air!

I read this book last year and loved it. I was also thankful that it hadn't been adapted yet if not by then because I'm just...tired of black pain narratives. Especially slave ones.
With that being said, I'm very excited and thankful to see Butler's work adapted. She is an amazing Sci-fi author that needs more recognition and I can't wait to see how the story comes to life.

I've been wanting to read the book like forever . Somebody gave me the book once and I was getting ready to read it , but then gave it to a relative to read and never got it back. But I'm going to read the book before this comes out. I watched all the trailers so far and wow can't wait. It looks intense. And in this trailer it looks like her husband/boyfriend/ fiance goes back in time with her? I can't wait. This makes me want to read the book even more.
It’s her husband and the story is wild. It’s a very good book though and it explores a lot of important and interesting themes like family ties, power, race, and class

It states added Dec. 13th, 2022. I started watching and went through every episode thus far, then you go to what you believe is probably close to if not the last episode and in midair it just drops!! There has not been a single episode since, its been one month one day ago. PLEASE Hulu finish the series!!!! I keep checking back but nothing has changed and I'm dying to see it to the end !!!

Loved reading the book, and just finished binging the show. It was so good, and it added more to the world-building of the book. Although not exactly as the book, I thought the add-on did make it interesting. But after season 1 leaving it on a cliffhanger, I came to read online that the show is canceled.

I LOVED this book when I read it decades ago and Ik this is an unpopular opinion but I watched three episodes last night before deciding to quit, it doesn't do justice to this amazing book. The book is far better.
