Let's go! I've been hoping and waiting patiently for "confirmation" Taika's movie was canceled. After the damage done to Thor, he should never be allowed to touch Star Wars, given that he "wants to piss off Star Wars fans". They've pissed people off enough. Taika can stay focused on his higher priorities.
I hate to be that fan, but yes. Considering the types of movies Taika Watiti makes, it was likely for the better. Only draw back is some people aren't getting roles (money) and maybe some work went to waste, but whatever. One less weird story is one good thing for the franchise (for once)
I remember watching Christopher Reeve’s Superman too as a child. And I absolutely fell in love with him. He’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
Fyi, james gunn only decided to do Superman himself after his father (who supported his love of comics and film) died. Kind of similar to the Patty jenkins situation. i hope that gives you some more confidence in the movie or at least that Gunn will give his best effort. Understandable concerns but im excited for it!
Top Gun Maverick is the Rogue Squadron movie we'll never get. A guy who has a dead friend trains his son to pilot a jet to fly through a trench and hit a target that's 2x2 metres. Dude, it's A New Hope through and through.
11:13 PLEASE I BEG OF YOU watch Superman and Lois. That show is an absolute treasure, and I hate that it’s over but it that show pulled off what no one expected it to. If you like Superman in any way and haven’t watched that show, you’re severely missing out. It’s also one of those shows that will restore your faith in humanity, Seasons 1 and S4 especially That show is the kind of entertainment that people always say they’re looking for, and yet people are still so hung up on “really? The show with Superman raising teenagers?”
I liked the Superman trailer. It shows that this version of Superman will be the most comic accurate of them all. I don't think we're going to get a lot of focus on the other hero characters, they're just going to come and go in the story as part of his universe. It's like aliens in Star Wars. Most of the time they're just there in the background of a scene, and you don't know much about them. They add color and verisimilitude to the story, but their exact details aren't important.
I watched the Superman trailer with my 10 year old daughter. She loved it. I don't have my finger on the pulse. I'm just a Dad. If my kid is excited, I'm excited.
I'd have to respectfully disagree with Naboo on this one. I don't see much of Guardians of the Galaxy with this movie yet (there's no 70s soundtrack so that's a start) and it's clear that we're not starting straight off with "Avengers" yet. James has confirmed that it's not another origin story (which is good cause we've seen enough of those already) and it's an established Superman we're dealing with. It looks like the other supers will either be supporting cast or antagonists for Superman to fight (which in my opinion is great cause it gives him something to punch that *isn't* other Kryptonians for a change). I'm very happy with the colour in this trailer especially after the fail that was Man of Steel so maybe I'm biased. If y'all really want a good standalone Superman story, I highly recommend you check out Superman and Lois that just ended. It's really good.
The lack of colour in Man of Steel is the same, tired, inane complaint that people who don’t understand what Zack Snyder was going for spit out. He bought a Watchmen aesthetic to the film: Very dark and gritty but at the same time very vibrant and fantastical.
Hasn't Taika's movie been in bin for a long time. I'm happy everytime I hear it's canceled. The same with Rian's never to be trilogy. I am a bit curious about Rogue Squadron, that sounds like an interesting project But right now Favreau's movie is the most interesting.
I hope that Taika Waitititi never ever ever makes anything Star Wars. I seriously doubt Rian Johnson is going to be let let near any Star Wars project. But hey, if anyone knows how to double down on stupid, it's D¡sиеУ.
Yes, we do need Green Lantern and Hawkgirl and Mr Terrific in there. This trailer is obviously Superman-centric, and there is nothing to her worried about. Coming from a lifelong DC comics fan (loving this franchise far more than Star Wars or even Star Trek), this trailer looked absolutely glorious, and I can't believe that Superman can move faster than a speeding bulllet, and yet we need to wait 8 months for him to arrive
After Time Bandits got cancelled after release I saw this coming. I like some of his work but maybe it's for the best. He has a style that would fit way better for SchwartzKopf ( Spaceballs 3 ) . Obi-Wan Kenobi was already too close to Thor: Love and Thunder in my book
Have you guys started Creature Commandos yet? It's actually the official start to the DCU before Superman even. I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far. Kinda feels like if Guardians of the Galaxy was rated MA.
I fell in love with the Justice League Unlimited cartoon, and that is what this felt like. I am super excited for this movie, but ready to be critical.
I have high hopes for Rogue Squadrons. Space battles are always the high of Star Wars movies or series and if the movie is successfull Disney will have to invent push for a new ride in their theme parks to rival Universal or hopefully something new in Paris but recently they always seemed behind.
I disagree with the negativity on the trailer. We knew going in that Superman wasn’t going to be the world’s first superhero and he was going to be part of a world. So yes there are other superheroes besides Superman that exist. That’s not going straight to the Avengers. I don’t agree with the concern at all. We don’t need a huge expository background story to explain the one Green Lantern in the story. The focus should be on Superman and I didn’t see anything there to leave me concerned that it wouldn’t be.
Hey Thor, are you planning on continuing the MCU film rankings? I know poll options have been changed, but something you could maybe do is: A B C D or F
It's so telling that I am more amused but listening to projects being announced, cancelled and then re-announced is more amusing than the potential projects themselves.
As much as i am excited, naboo said what i thought exactly. Im concerned as to if superman can pull off introducing 4-6 new characters with proper pacing and development and fit it all into one movie
Star Wars of course takes inspiration from a few real life wars for its conflicts/factions, like Vietnam and WWII but I wonder (purely bc Taika Waititi is part Māori) if Star Wars creatives would look to other wars for inspiration, like the Māori Musket Wars or more broadly Polynesian, to Kamehameha’s conquests to unite the Hawaiian islands. These are two extremely unique wars that started when the already warrior centered cultures of Polynesia got access to advanced weapons through trade. Polynesians also sailed the Pacific with specialized canoes and master navigation. How about a new Star Wars culture that travels purely sublight bc they’re badass like that. Weren’t the Duros good at sublight?
Star Wars/Top Gun sounds good in theory but as we all know how easily the current regime could screw it up. I'm still unhappy they aren't bringing Henry Cavill back.
I'm torn, I really loved Ragnarok but hated Love & Thunder - but watching someone react to it lately, maybe it just wasn't for me. Ragnarok to me = 80's Flash Gordon which probably says all that needs to be said about Waititi touching Star Wars. 😂
It was dead as soon as everyone saw Love and Thunder, thankfully. Waititi's a hack, anyway. All he has in his arsenal is edgelord humour that most people are already bored of.
@JohnSheppard1 have you seen Jojo Rabbit and Ragnarok? Id hardly call that "edgelord humor" but he has a great record of films he's done in the past, I think the love and thunder situation was more of a fluke than anything, I mean his Mando episodes were good I think he could've added something to the universe.
Kennedy is so narrow minded grabbing all of these “flavour of the month” directors. Like it’s a sure thing, it’s definitely her MO and it’s pathetic and almost never goes to plan
Taika Waititi should never be allowed near anything anyone holds dear, exception perhaps being What we do in the shadows, but i honestly think that too has grown better without him.. He had a good movie, s*** happens.. It was a happy accident.. Another reboot of Superman (Man of boredom).. Lemme guess another origin story..
I’m in “wait and see” mode for Superman. The visuals are good, but the story remains to be seen. It’s a fair decision to bypass the origin story when the basics of the story are common pop culture knowledge. Spider-Man: Homecoming is another film that handled this well. I also like the idea of jumping straight into a world where superheroes are firmly established. I’m just concerned at the long list of additional characters, particularly when they are featured in the trailer. We need time to get to know the new Superman and Clark personas before expanding to the larger League.
Supman and Chuck Norris once got into an argument about who was stronger so they decided to have a contest of strength. The loser would have to wear his under wear over his pants for the rest of his life.
I don't understand the need to keep rebooting Superman. It is hard to beat the 1978 Superman movie. I liked the last two Superman films, and I would have been happy to continue those stories, but they keep going back to the same well. How many Superman origin stories do we need?
here's the important thing they need to remember if they want to make a rogue squadron movie: NO. IDENTITY. POLITICS. not just in the movie itself, but none of that shit in the casting of it's characters or around the production of the movie either. we have to pray they don't hire activists, they will ruin everything. current-year SJW identity politics have been pure poison for all their productions that it's touched since 2020. yet somehow, i don't think they'll learn...
The Rain Jonson trilogy better be next on the chopping block.
Let's go! I've been hoping and waiting patiently for "confirmation" Taika's movie was canceled. What did he do to thor?
@@darthcaedus9130A lot of people feel that the last movie turned Thor into a joke sidekick.
I hate to be that fan, but yes. Considering the types of movies Taika Watiti makes, it was likely for the better. Only draw back is some people aren't getting roles (money) and maybe some work went to waste, but whatever. One less weird story is one good thing for the franchise (for once)

Darth Vader right when giving his emotional death speech to Luke: sidious is behind me, isn’t he?
Top Gun Maverick is the Rogue Squadron movie we'll never get. A guy who has a dead friend trains his son to pilot a jet to fly through a trench and hit a target that's 2x2 metres. Dude, it's A New Hope through and through.
The best thing for the franchise is Waititi's film getting permanently canceled.
Better be Wedge's Squadron

Best news lately. :3

“Play it in Huttese and it will be fine!” 😂
I wouldn't be bothered seeing a full Superman "Family" movie with Krypto/super girl and scientist Supe's and skipping his origin story tbh.
I watched the Superman trailer with my 10 year old daughter. She loved it. I don't have my finger on the pulse. I'm just a Dad. If my kid is excited, I'm excited.

Good. I don't want Star Wars Love and Thunder.
At this point a star wars movie announcement almost equals a death sentence. Kinda like getting your name pulled for the hunger games
I fell in love with the Justice League Unlimited cartoon, and that is what this felt like. I am super excited for this movie, but ready to be critical.
There are four live-action Spider-Mans. Japanese Spider-Man is just as legit as the rest! xD
Creature commandos (the 1st project in the new dcu) has been pretty good so far so I'd say the new dcu is starting off hot

disaster averted… 😅

13.14 actually 😂

Mighty wings in huttese. I need it.
Another one bites the dust. 😂
Lol "love it for all the wrong reasons"
I believe Rogue Squadron would come back, tracks with KK's vast wisdom of making the best choices for LF.....so anyone see WW2?
Thor simping for Cavill? No way.
Nawsy Yawsy!!!
Good
Taika Waititi was the worst director for The Mighty Thor and Gor storylines, both are too serious for his usual style.
Star Wars/Top Gun sounds good in theory but as we all know how easily the current regime could screw it up.

I'm only here for the Superman trailer talk. Any talk about a STAR WARS movie is WHITE NOISE.
Good. He’s a terrible director.
I’m in “wait and see” mode for Superman. The visuals are good, but the story remains to be seen.
It’s a fair decision to bypass the origin story when the basics of the story are common pop culture knowledge. Spider-Man: Homecoming is another film that handled this well.

Here, Gunn is throwing in characters the general audience will not know.
- Guy Gardner
- Hawkgirl
- Metamorpho
- Mister Terrific
Other characters portions of the general audience may know of from other productions, but will still be all new versions.
- Rick Flag
- Supergirl
- Maxwell Lord
- Cat Grant
- Eve Teschmacher
- Otis
All this on top of the standard Superman cast:
- Lex Luthor
- Lois Lane
- Jimmy Olsen
- Perry White
- Johnathan “Pa” Kent
(no Martha yet)
These inclusions are great for the long-time DC fan base and the cast list looks good, but it raises a flag about having too many elements thrown in on the first outing. We need time to get to know the new Superman and Clark personas before expanding to the larger League.
The 1930’s called, they want superman and Batman back 😂

I was shocked that Krypto didn’t speak like a human ala Cosmo in GOTG. Maybe Gunn is actually gonna take this seriously? We shall see.
You can't touch Christopher Reeves as Superman.
