    Sorry but Chikkas tweets were very disgusting, very anti black. She saw two black girls & to her they're automatically bastards and created as a result of promiscuity as opposed to being created out of love. Dont agree with the body shaming she went through but she needs to leave peoples kids alone.

    I was a fan of Chika from the time she did that Calvin Klein Ad. But I recently had to unfollow her on a number of platforms because of the hat3full, bizarre and disrespectful things she would say and post. She stay trying to drag people then play victim. When you put out negativity, it comes right back to you. It’s sad that people automatically criticize her based on her looks first. But respect starts within.

      I honestly want her to chill on the drinking & get the help she needs. I know she has mental health struggles, but as someone who also has MH things to overcome, you must be intentional in your healing or this shit will pour out of you in a way you don’t want. For me, alcohol makes it all worse. But she’s also much younger than me & might have to figure it out with time.

    Fat phobia and all aside. Speaking as an overweight dark-skinned woman who has suffered with Major Depression Disorder for well over ten years. The main topic in this video shouldn’t have been focused on her appearance which clearly triggered you because it correlated with your own personal life experiences.
    It should have been a read on how dangerous it is for a black woman to constantly cry wolf with her mental health whenever she’s nasty to others! She could have employed so many other healthy ways to cope with those beautiful black babies crying. Instead, she spent over 34 dollars to purchase wifi and called them and their mothers everything but children’s of God. Instances such as this minimizes mental health within our community.

  • @squirrelsinmykoolaid
    @squirrelsinmykoolaid ปีที่แล้ว +274

    Intersectionality is key here and two things can be true at once. Before I offer my critique I will 100% state that I'm sure Chika is being vilified to a more severe degree because of colorism, anti-Blackness and anti-fatness. People who don't experience these types of discrimination have gotten away with worse. It's never okay to counteract anything with bigotry. If I punched a white person and they called me a slur as a reaction, it wouldn't be justified. Bigotry is bigotry, period.
    With that being said I feel as though you are downplaying Chika's tweets as her just inappropriately ranting about being annoyed when it was more than that. Chika publicly participated in the dehumanization of Black children. Apparently she has a history of this. Calling Black children bastards isn't okay. Apparently there are other tweets circulating showing this pattern, like the one where she compared a little Black girl to a skeleton.
    Additionally, she was ableist. Asking if someone is "mentally delayed" isn't okay, irritated or not. It reinforces the dehumanization of disabled folks, and in this case folks with intellectual disabilities. Ableism is often downplayed or not discussed at all in this discussions.
    I know this hits close to home for you and the point you were getting at is that people take any opportunity they can to dehumanize fat Black folks whether they have done something wrong or not. I just feel like this could've been discussed in a way that didn't seemingly downplay the bigotry that was present in Chika's tweets as well.

    • @szasremmurd8002
      @szasremmurd8002 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Tbh I don’t believe that she’s being vilified more severely due to her look, but to her own colorism, self hate and bullying comments made to a child and their parents to boot! Nobody has a soft spot for disgustingly rude behavior . That’s it that’s all.

      If you put your hands on somebody what they do or say is a reaction to what you did and you do not get to tell them how to react because they wouldn’t have done it if you didn’t put your hands on them. That is not a good example. I do agree that the criticism she is getting is based on her being fat, dark skin and black…that’s clear. I actually saw some of the comments and they were mentioning her size, her body odor, her skin color, comparing her to animals etc….it was bad and it was clearly overkill however you do not get to do the kind of thing she did and expect everyone to not say anything about it. The harsh criticism is…like I said…a reaction to what she did…the other part that is not being mentioned is that a lot of these people tearing at her are fans of TIP and Tiny. They are very well known celebrities. The other part is people get pissed off when you talk bad about babies…also she’s in first class complaining…that is also a turn off for people. None of TI’s kids are married. So if they have children…they are literally bastards…just saying 🤷🏾‍♂️

    I love you Justin but will have to respectfully disagree with you on this one babes. Although people were hyper focusing on her appearance- she deserves the dragging that she’s getting. Let’s not forget that this isn’t her first time saying nasty and ugly things about black children. She once compared a picture of a deceased little black girl to a picture of a skeleton. She’s also very anti black herself with the language she uses when describing any other black person. Shoot, her tweets about this very situation were very anti black with the way she talked about those babies and who she assumed to be their mother. As a dark-skinned woman who has dealt with colorism all of my life, I don't see the correlation between the two. I think it's completely asinine to make her out to be the victim. 90% of communication online is with Bots, so who's to say that these weren't Bots attacking her. People don't get mad about these issues until it directly affects them. As a mother who has taken flights with children including a 4-year-old toddler flying can be a nightmare. Imagine how the mother felt in that moment she is unable to console and bring Comfort to her child due to the circumstance. Who is to say that the mother wasn't embarrassed? So to take a situation and publicly humiliate her is disgusting! We can compare apples to oranges but what about Mom shaming? That woman called that child a bastard! A bastard is a child born out of wedlock, she's very intelligent so I'm quite sure she knew how deep that went as a black woman. If you had that much energy to spend $40 on Wi-Fi connection just a tweet something disgusting about a baby , she needs to add another hundred dollars and go see a therapist. She claims to be woke right? This is narcissistic behavior and it's very much self-inflicted. I'm going to sit this one out because I'm a mother first

It witnessed, and participated, in a BOATLOAD of constructive criticism that had nothing to do with her looks or weight. Honestly I feel like everyone lost here. Chika’s comments were absolutely vile and she should be called our for it. She has a history of attacking black children and more black specifically black little girls. However, the comments about Chika’s appearance were just as vile & disgusting, but also hypocritical. Chika’s comments were anti-black & people were rightfully calling her out about it while also being anti-black at the same time.
    I didn’t really have much compassion for Chika & I still think she needs to apologize, but when she talked about her mental health I just felt bad. I think Chika needs help and she should stay off social media until she gets the help she needs but I also think people have to be mindful of how they engage people with mental health problems. At one point Chika was saying how she felt like she would’ve unalived herself had she not vented like she did, and while that may sound ridiculous to some people, that might’ve been the gods honest truth. This was when I started feeling like people needed to stop because with all this going on this could have literally been her final straw and she could’ve actually ended her life.

      Ok but 2 things can be true at once and that’s what you are not getting. Yes, the fat phobic comments were wrong. But let’s not negate the harm she attempted to cause to innocent black children. Let’s not forget that this isn’t her first time being hateful and anti black toward children on a public platform. Black children are already marginalized and not protected as they should be. So to see a grown adult willfully and intentionally trying to inflict more harm is disturbing. I refuse to allow anyone to gas light the situation and flip it around on the people who are upset about how children were talked about and make us the villains. The comments about her appearance were bad, but her comments were downright AWFUL. You can’t control how people respond to your foolish ways. Oh well

    Love ya, Justin. But, I don't really like how we're making Chika the victim here. Yes, she's fat and darker skinned and is receiving harsher repercussions because of that, and of course that's worthy of conversation. And yes, critiquing her body is uncalled for and not okay. HOWEVER, I really wish we wouldn't downplay the fact that Chika has a pattern of saying vile, problematic stuff online then throwing out the mental heath reasoning as an excuse. Chika has proven herself to be a very problematic person and if she's being dragged for her REPEATED problematic behavior, that's a consequence of her chosen actions. Again, dragging her looks is obviously out of line, but dragging her behavior is deserved. She's the villain because she's repeatedly choosing villain behavior. There's a reeeeeally fine line between acknowledging fatphonia and antiblackness and excusing behavior because you empathize with someone's identity. 😬

    I understand exactly what you're saying.. as a collective we all can stand to learn how to correct people and educate them without automatically declaring war all at once. Every conversation doesn't have to be combative and we definitely should be more mindful about the way we hurt ourselves and participate in our own oppression when we are trying to call ourselves educating someone or are mindfully flat out attacking them..
    I also want to add. That we also as a collective need to become more aware and accept another fact that the energy that you put out comes back to you one way or another. So while many of the problematic things that were said to chica and the problematic energy that was transferred in the process was not okay and is not right. And definitely deserves a conversation for correction. We also have to get real with ourselves and other people about the energy that we are putting out. Chica was going to get some type of nasty response one way or another simply because of the energy that she put out. She put out toxic energy & toxicity came back to her. I do agree that it was a specific form of chaotic & problematic because she is dark skin plus size and a woman.. But thee toxicity that she put out was going to get back to her one way or another whether It was people online that dragged her or some other way..
    I also want to add that perhaps because you are not a woman. You didn't pick up on or linger on the stigma charged energy that Chika was dishing out to another black woman.. A Mother at that.. and how triggering that is for black women who are mothers. Along the lines of implementing and emphasizing the narrative that black women are the downfall of the family structure and cannot take care of their kids.. That's another layer as to why it was such a dog pile because much like you are able to relate to the anti blackness specifically anti-dark skin and the anti-fatness of it all. Many women were able to relate to the blows that Chika dished out with her stigmatizing antics. She offended a very large group that has their own many layers of oppression, stigmas, stereotype & mental health attacks.. which feeds into the size of the dogpile & feeds into the lack of sympathy & restraint they'd have for her..
    Great Vid ! Great Points ! Im glad i didnt let the Comments or any mindless subconscious biases keep me from listening with Higher Senses.. I appreciate thee Msg. 💯👑

Like you, I am someone who stands up against anti-blackness, interethnic conflict (mainly colorism) and systems of oppression in my everyday life so I'm well read on these topics. I fee l like you tend to project your own insecurities and use desirability, colorism and fat phobia as a base for every issue. It can be a bit off putting because everything isn't always predicated on colorism. Sometimes you speak as if all dark skin folks face constant bullying online and I just don't know it thats true. Dark skin people can have "gym bodies" (using your example from the video) and are just as desirable and benefit from pretty privilege because hell, I do. Chicka was wrong and literally made anti-Black comments about a Black mother and two little Black girls. Were her comments not anti-Black because Zonique and the little girls are not dark skin?

    Noise canceling headphones are an amazing investment and in these days essential. Not only do I not want to hear kids on my flights I don't want to hear the adults either and I do my sign language to the flight attendants if I need them which usually I don't cause I don't want to be bothered by them either. We need to share space but people in general are wildly inconsiderate of others. PS....nah $1,000 first class flight and I got to listen to a baby crying the whole flight....🤣🤣🤣 that is wild is the flight attendants passing out extra drinks and snacks even in coach. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Are the parents trying to find out why the baby crying? I love my noise canceling headphones. I don't know nothing....I don't hear nothing. 🕺🏾🎵 PS I live in NYC I keep my headphones on especially on the train where their is way worse than crying baby.

    Anyone saying she “deserved” the comments Justin was talking about, missed the point of Justin’s entire video. People are trying to defend what was inappropriately said without acknowledging that it was VERY CLEARLY STATED that WHAT CHIKA SAID WAS WRONG AND DISGUSTING. You all do not give the same energy to people that are “societally acceptable” when it comes to weight and skin tone and THAT is equally wrong. You aren’t vindicated just because she’s a troubled person. If you want to attack her character; do so-but that’s not what is being focused on and attacked when it domes to Chika and people that look like Chika. That’s the point. Chika’s weight and skin tone are more viciously attacked than what she actually said. That’s what’s wrong. Why is that so difficult to see or admit to? A lot of you in the comment section are fatphobic and/or colorist and you’re trying to defend yourselves by saying “what she said was wrong” when no one was disputing that. It hurts but do the work and heal your hate. Have the discussion without demonizing her darkness and weight. Be accountable for your internalized biases.
