Complete romance videos that you are referring to usually include all the scenes connected to a character, along with banter, small moments and their personal quests. Here there are only moments when you flirt with him. But when you play the game it feels differently because you not only have this romantic moments, but also experience getting to know him. I do agree that there could be more romantic scenes, but the romance is still good.
I love Lucanis. But i have never been so dissapointed with a romance before. Not a single kiss until the end of the game?!?! Some other scenes are so much spicier
@sapkowska omg! Yes! You could be a serious jerk or a sarcastic jerk im DA2. I miss that 🤣 everything is just nice and cringe with rook no matter what you choose
i adore mary kirby but why did they give a character who’s specifically characterized as a romantic to a writer who’s stated multiple times that she dislikes writing romance? i love lucanis and mary kirby did such a great job with him, but his romance just felt so slow, especially in comparison to other companions like Emmirich, Neve, or Taash.
David Gaider said he didn't like writing romances either but he did great with Morrigan, Cassandra and people are not complaining about Alistair and Dorian as well.
@@blue_rook yeah i get that. im just used to their past games (and maybe influenced by bg3 in some sort) which had elaborated romance/connection with the player character.
@@swonino I think we should also take into account the fact that Veilguard seems to be shorter than previous games. I'm on my 40th hour and near close to the end of the game. For example, it usually takes me 60+ hours to finish Inquisition with all the DLCs.
Just a tip: play the same faction as your romance. I see so many people complain about lack of romance. While I do agree that there could be more scenes, I want to let you know that the scenes in this video are not the only ones. There are also other dialogs, banter, moments during missions where Lucanis is worried about you. If you take him on missions with you, he will always be in cutscenes with you. I think if you take all the moments and make a video it will be like 40-50 minutes long. So again, devs could have added more scenes, but it doesn't mean that this romance is actually lacking something. It's nice and cute, sometimes sad, sometimes funny.
This is good advice. I'm doing a second run with him as a Crow to see if I can build more of an emotional connection between him and Rook throughout the game. Last time it felt off - and the constant flirting banter with Neve even after he was romanced drove me insane.
@ashleadavis5008 Hmm, maybe him flirting with Neve is a bug? I only heard them being close to flirting once, but then after finishing his quest when you two become a thing he only ever talks to Neve about usual things. And she also mentioned him smiling more and said that Rook is good for him, so... As for the faction, I personally feel that he kind of trusts you more as a Crow. You both are constantly asked by others about being a Crow, if someone asks Lucanis what it's like to be part of this faction, he either says that Rook is a Crow too or Rook cuts in and says that he can answer questions.
OK, that's actually better than I expected based on the lukewarm descriptions, but maybe that's cause both of them have very nice voices. Maybe I'll even try out his romance on the next playthrough.
It is a rather short romance, as I played the game I began wondering if he was some sort of Ace representation since he didn't so much as touch Rook practically the whole game. But they are still my head cannon romance. "My heart beats for you". I still felt the angst/love was on HawkexFenris levels and that's my benchmark.
I am romancing Emmrich and he has this Ace vibes. So sweet and gentle and I cannot picture him and my Rook in bed, to be honest. And it's okay. I haven't finished the game yet so I haven't seen the final romance scene.
People complain too much... The story is great so far. The romance is slow burn and looks more organic, no thirsty companions wanting you instantly just because you're the player character. Also, the dynamic between the companions and their little scenes and dialogues among themselves is great, very immersive.
This is the better written romance, hardly any cringey lines. Still had weird moments of delivery and some lines don’t flow well but this is way better.
@ I do really like Emmrich, I think he has one of the better writing but to me compared to Lucanis, there was way more weird dialogue and flowing problems. Unfortunately, romantically, Emmrich is the better one but it suffers from writing which is a shame ((Also, hi fellow Astarion simp, i am still stuck in my BG3 era as well lmao))
Didn’t think I would have a dragon age love I would love as much as Fenris fro DA2 but I’m pretty sure Lucanis is tied. God just love them both so much
Bioware put itself on the map in the late 2000s-early 2010s for its in-depth romances paired alongside its RPG stories, to the point that any RPG with romance elements will inevitably be compared to the depth and scope of a Bioware game. The fact DATV has only crumbs of romance is a travesty. If this is the result of executive meddling, they’ve once again misunderstood the target audiences and primary draw to their beloved IPs. If this the developers’ faults, you’ve cut yourself down at your own knees. We’re never getting that Bioware romance magic from now on, are we? This isn’t an RPG wirh major romance elements, this is an Action RPG with a stripped down world and romance hastily tacked on. Why does every option feel platonic? I would say pretty much every one of these flirt options to a platonic friend 😭
😂 really trying to make the desert scene seem like it’s more of a big deal . I wish there was more Spite involved in the romance tbh but my god, it felt like we chased Lucanis until it was hard to get rid off rather than hard to get
why was the scene at the end of the date 12:30 so awkward, oh gods plus, it takes so long to get to the first kiss?? huh??? I'm not even a big kisses person but give me SOMETHING, geez - and with the timing and events it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't happen earlier! I was expecting this to be one of the better romances of Veilguard but either it's not or it's all like this, and then... yikes
I love Lucanis, i bought the game because of him, but i feel a bit disapointed. The bed scene is one of my favorites, but the romance in general felt more like a platonic friendship than a romance.
His romance is so weirdly paced. The times where it would seem to develop into something more romantic is so weird. After he literally has to fight his cousin he sees as a brother? After Harding/Davrin dies, you get trapped in a Fade prison thinking you might never get out, and finding out that your friend and mentor died and you've been lied to this entire time to the extend that you dint know what's real anymore (one if the dialogue choices)? Wtf is even going on
Do you know if you will decide to not aid Traviso you can still romance Lucanis? I know that building relationship with him will be harder but I found information that you will be not able to get any romance options with him after this devision.
one of the things i dont like about this game is how quick the romances move and how short this game really is. Ive only had the game for 3 days and im almost done my second playthrough. Also i dont like how every character is romancable by any person u make. (All characters are confirmed Panse*ual). I like how in the other Dragon Age games all the characters have a se*ual preference. Made them all seem unique. But these characters all fall in love with u way too quickly and they all like you no matter what. They all seem like the same person but with a "slight" difference. I do still like the story, but it could have been better, it just seems short like Dragon Age 2 was.
Alright then, now that I’ve seen all the romances my personal ranking as of now would be: 1. Bellara 2. Neve 3. Emmrich 4. Davrin 5. Lucanis 6. Harding 7. Taash
Nice list 😊 My ranking: 1. Lucanis (I sucker for his accent 😅) 2. Bellara 3. Emmrich 4. Neve 5. Davrin 6. Harding (it's a shame) 7. Taash And is it just me or there is always something interrupting first kiss... It's annoying 😐
It was good, but didn't feel super romantic? There's some sweet moments in there but I feel like there's not a lot to make his romance path distinctive from his non romance path 7.5/10
To people saying that lucanis romance is disappointing and lackluster bc he doesnt immediately put out or kiss after locking in can u guys think VERY HARD why youre expecting a trauma survivor who has not made a decision for himself for a long time, maybe for his entire life, to be instantly affectionate or physical or give a big spectacle romance? Do you guys think magical healing sex is the answer to a lifetime of abuse, a year of torture, and being trained to throw away your emotions (read tevinter nights)??? His fade mission and tevinter nights - the wigmaker puts a lot of things into perspective regarding his character that you guys purposely ignore. He’s fucking terrified of vulnerability and losing control. Also people saying he couldve been the hot edgy romance, yall fucking weird and fetishistic.
it's not about instant affection or him putting out lmao it's about the basic lack of content and exploration of his character as a love interest. nobody is "purposely ignoring" it because it's rarely discussed in the game itself. he's a companion in veilguard, so his emotional state and experiences should be portrayed in veilguard. players shouldn't have to go back and read the book to properly understand and interact with the character in-game. but then bioware has always had an issue with expecting people to buy all of their extra content and puts critical information in them w/o ever bothering to catch up the rest of the crowd. i love most of the dragon age books and comics but they need to start putting major plot and character events in the actual games.
@@ancientalien000 but it was portrayed??! In the actual fade mission!!!! If people read his notes there or codex entries people would be able to surmise what hes feeling!!
Sure there may be lack of cutscenes but theyve made up for it with other things like banter and codex entries! Not everything has to be shown in a cutscene. I’m not defending the lack of cutscene, but his romance definitely felt realistic for someone who is going through shit like he was.
He's genuinely boring for some people. I have the same affection for him as I do my mailman : happy to see my packages arrive and nothing more. He just doesn't do it for me storywise and that's okay. More for you then but you have GOT to get over yourself. It's a video game. If people dont like the character, that you seemingly trauma bonded with, then why do you care? Play the game how you want and others will do the same.
It's funny that they were like "There are some quite steamy scenes " etc and then we get this. SO, SO, SO flat and underwhelming. Until the 15 minute mark no kiss, the flirting is basically non-existent ... no nudity, fade to black scenes. *sad sigh* Antivans are so sexy (at least for me) , huge opportunity wasted here.
Why the romance scene with Cassandra, a pious and inexperienced person is way more passionate, hot and steamy than the quite hedonistic assassin with charming accent one? He just comes, says several words and boom, fade to black. So boring. What went wrong, Bioware? You don't seem to care for this game.
Why did you skip the entire Inner Demons romance dialogue? That was actually genuinely heartfelt and powerful (that being said, I agree with the other commenters here that this romance could be done SO much better)
well what makes a slow burn worth is it typically tons of pining, flirtation, and tension leading up to a big payoff. that is not what happened here lmao

It's funny because I romanced him, thought it was pretty short but figured it was because he isn't one of the main companions, but nope, it's one of the better ones.
That's what she sa--- eh, nevermind.
18 minutes? Really? Complete romance videos from DAO are between 1 and 2 hours and none of them is really complete.
@blue_rook We have different concepts what is good. for me it's cringe on max.
@@blue_rook🤡🤡🤡
I love Lucanis. But i have never been so dissapointed with a romance before. Not a single kiss until the end of the game?!?! Some other scenes are so much spicier
THE WINGS COMING OUT AAAAHHHHHHHH
I've just finished my 1st playthrough with a lucanis romance and was VERY underwhelmed. It was almost non-existent.
Same. I wanted more. :( I really like the character.
I won't complain about DAI anymore. i sorry I was too harsh
He sounds a lot like a male khajiit from Elder scrolls😂
I swear every time I hear him talk, a clear picture of Puss in Boots appears in my mind.
Still romanced him tho
Puss in Boots.
So I kinda skipped through the vid to avoid spoilers but did he really doesn’t even have a kiss scene? Except for the one when they're gettin it on.
Yep, he has an almost kiss scene that's pretty nice but that's it.
Thank you for your work, it will help me choose who to romance
thank you so much! these vids really helped to choose my romance :)
It's pretty sweet romance. I think it's my favorite. It could be better if Rook had less cringy dialog...
The cringe dialogue with Rook is in all the romances I hate it 😭
@@TheFoxHound626 Yeah... I know 😅 Such a shame!
Everything is cringe with rook 😅
@@theesper7404 I need to come back to my sarcastic Hawke or replay Cullen romance 😅😅😅 Rook is a king of cringe 😅
David Gaider said he didn't like writing romances either but he did great with Morrigan, Cassandra and people are not complaining about Alistair and Dorian as well.
i have a question, the whole romance for him ingame only spans for 18 minutes? if so... damn, i feel so robbed.
Gosh, this are just moments when you flirt with him. But there is also a mission when you recruit him, his big quest line, banter and so on...
@@blue_rookbruh, da2 was short and the romances were miles ahead. Stop being delulu
Lucanis may be the best thing to come out of Veilguard. Like, at least he's genuinely hot.
Absolutely not. He's one of the most disappointing if you've played it.
What romance? I was so pissed, I just got one scene at the end
I really like this romance actually, the last couple of scenes are very romantic. Thanks for sharing with us ❤
omg he so cute i cant.. D;
Spite third wheeling for the date is sending me
Just a tip: play the same faction as your romance.
@ I hope it’s a bug! My game seemed to throw them together no matter what and I felt like a third wheel lol.
@@ashleadavis5008 maybe then don't take them together 😂
@@blue_rook its not a bug. they end up together if you dont romance either of them.
OK, that's actually better than I expected based on the lukewarm descriptions, but maybe that's cause both of them have very nice voices. Maybe I'll even try out his romance on the next playthrough.
He's no Zevran, that's for damn sure.
Zevran the ultimate sex god cannot be compared to an npc Crow.
He sounds like Antonio Banderas
It is a rather short romance, as I played the game I began wondering if he was some sort of Ace representation since he didn't so much as touch Rook practically the whole game. But they are still my head cannon romance. "My heart beats for you". I still felt the angst/love was on HawkexFenris levels and that's my benchmark.
I am romancing Emmrich and he has this Ace vibes. So sweet and gentle and I cannot picture him and my Rook in bed, to be honest. And it's okay.
I haven't finished the game yet so I haven't seen the final romance scene.
He. Is. Cute. I. Can't. Even. AUGH!
**shoves his face into a sink with very cold water**
Bblblblblblblb!
Beautiful storyline
People complain too much... The story is great so far. The romance is slow burn and looks more organic, no thirsty companions wanting you instantly just because you're the player character. Also, the dynamic between the companions and their little scenes and dialogues among themselves is great, very immersive.
This is the better written romance, hardly any cringey lines. Still had weird moments of delivery and some lines don’t flow well but this is way better.
If you think _this_ is good, it pales in comparison to Emmrich's romance.
@ I do really like Emmrich, I think he has one of the better writing but to me compared to Lucanis, there was way more weird dialogue and flowing problems. Unfortunately, romantically, Emmrich is the better one but it suffers from writing which is a shame
((Also, hi fellow Astarion simp, i am still stuck in my BG3 era as well lmao))
ahhh Thank You! Thank You!
Didn’t think I would have a dragon age love I would love as much as Fenris fro DA2 but I’m pretty sure Lucanis is tied. God just love them both so much
Fun fact, Treviso is a city in Italy !
Thanks for the upload! You rock!
The dialogue about the desert is so fucking weird. That is not natural, or deep, or clever, at all. It feels like an SNL skit.
I miss my man Dorian
Gale in BDG 3 and Lucanis are my favorite both man are sweet and romantic lover
The romance writing and just companion writing in general is abysmal in this game
Seeing people mald is so funny 😂
Thank you
😂 really trying to make the desert scene seem like it’s more of a big deal . I wish there was more Spite involved in the romance tbh but my god, it felt like we chased Lucanis until it was hard to get rid off rather than hard to get
I got tired of being teased and gave in to see these clips and now… I AM SO MAD THAT IVE WASTED MY MONEYYYYYYY UGH
❤❤❤ My favourite character ❤❤❤
Okay. Lucanis and Emmerich MAY be wnough to make me wanna buy this game. MAYBE.
So Lucianus is just Zevran + Anders?
Both of those romances and characters were more interesting and had better writing.
You are insulting Anders. He is a controversial character but very complex and deep.
Would love the sliders for your Rook, I'd romance him
You Rook is EPIC!
This just makes me miss Zevran all the more :(
Thank u for your work! Now I know who I will romance 🤭
why was the scene at the end of the date 12:30 so awkward, oh gods
plus, it takes so long to get to the first kiss??
Wtf is even going on
Oh, and of course not knowing what the heck happened to Neve/Bellara.
They thought it was a good idea to shack? Okay
Do you know if you will decide to not aid Traviso you can still romance Lucanis? I know that building relationship with him will be harder but I found information that you will be not able to get any romance options with him after this devision.
nah if you don't save Treviso you're completely locked out of his romance
one of the things i dont like about this game is how quick the romances move and how short this game really is.
When is triggered the scene of his commitment on minute 11? I finish the last quest and is veil hero but still dont have it
didnt they say there will be nudity?
404 Not Found (in love scenes)
The worst thing about this game was that BG3 came out first
Can we romance more than one companion in the same playthrough?
Nope, you can flirt and express romantic interest in multiple companions. But at some point you have to commit to one romance
Alright then, now that I’ve seen all the romances my personal ranking as of now would be:
1. Bellara
2. Neve
3. Emmrich
4. Davrin
5. Lucanis
6. Harding
7. Taash
I didn’t watch the entire videos to avoid spoilers but yea I had a feeling Emmerich was the better male option. Just wish he wasn’t so old
Nice list 😊
My ranking:
1. Lucanis (I sucker for his accent 😅)
2. Bellara
3. Emmrich
4. Neve
5. Davrin
6. Harding (it's a shame)
7. Taash
And is it just me or there is always something interrupting first kiss... It's annoying 😐
My ranking:
1. Emmrich
2. Taash
3. Neve
4. Lucanis
5. Harding
6. Davrin
7. Bellara
@@Xxsorafan he's not that old he's like 50 sjvlnslkfvm
It was good, but didn't feel super romantic? There's some sweet moments in there but I feel like there's not a lot to make his romance path distinctive from his non romance path
7.5/10
I think us gays deserve better... 🥲
They took the accent way too far and just turned it into a Hollywood cliché Spanish accent.
I literally thought I missed something...guess not =_=
what is going on with the lip sync? it's so bad...
I've never been more dissapointed in a game's romances in my entire life, but Lucianis' romance was so empty
Why are these romances all so dull 😭😭😭😭😭
Why did you skip the entire Inner Demons romance dialogue? That was actually genuinely heartfelt and powerful
(that being said, I agree with the other commenters here that this romance could be done SO much better)
That was fast...
I've never skimmed through romance dialogue so much before lol...how is it SO boring 😪
All romances are dull . So sad
Canot compare to Dorian relationship at all
Wow that was cringey 😬
Well I was warned this was bad, but this is worse than I imagined. Just seems so bland.
@backseatguides How?! Just how did you make all these videos, including best and worst endings, when the game has only been out for 5 minutes? 😂
@@RandomWandrer if you play on easy and skip dialogues, you can breeze through the game pretty fast
yall aren’t real lovers idc slow burns are great 🫶
What slow burn? There is literally no flame. 💀
well what makes a slow burn worth is it typically tons of pining, flirtation, and tension leading up to a big payoff. that is not what happened here lmao
I will take these characters and make them my own. By now I already have claimed the dragon age games, it's characters and content as property of the people and I will try writing with what I have and , idk make it my own. Because these tomances were DISAPPOINTING like gmdvjfkx 🥲😭
