Yay so glad to see female rook romance!! But like the other person said yeah the romances in this game seem to lack the depth and uniqueness of the other games smh
Aww, that makes me sad; I'm gonna try the other ones, too but I'm not as excited now. Missed opportunity cause I really like most of the companions plus I expect the best from Bioware
@@Beccasgames Aww you're sweet for saying that, but to be honest I was already a bit let down by this romance and how Lucanis's storyline played out. I'm still gonna test and publish at least a few other romances, but I think we'll probably agree in the end
i think the romances are really lackluster in this game, like you get 1 or 2 scenes alltogether and that's it even no romance in the epilogue. The romance in DAI was much much better.
Bioware will never top the masterpiece they made with shepherd and liara in mass effect that was perfect the character chemistry the history between the two even the actual love scenes for liara had more work put Into them because they knew they would be the favourites.
100% agreed, but that is why I try to not compare other romances to that one. Liara and Shepard stretches 3 games and was clearly intended to be the canon romance, so obviously the quality is going to be insurmountable for other romances to compare.
Ohhh Femshep/Liara remains my favorite video game romance of all time, just the build up from puppy love to death breaking them apart and then getting back together despite being different people years later. We will probably never get a romance built up in three different games ever again
I mean you comparing a 3 games spanning romance to a single game one. Let's compare mass effect 1 only romance where the final scene is the same between the three possible options just a body and dialogue swap, and it also has the same thing with thinly veiled flirts that she brushes off until the point of no return where the romance actually happens. Now isn't this the same timeline people are complaining about in Veilguard? It's just a lot more obvious because me1 is a 25 hours game while veilguard is a 60 hour game with a very long third act.
Thank you for recoding and uploading with fem!Rook!! I haven't finished the game yet so I didn't finish the video haha. But I'm loving the romance so far and cannot get enough of their voices, I think they have great chemistry and I'm enjoying a lot how Neve changes to be more open, less deadpan. Think the voice actor did a great job. Loved the wisps scene, and the rock hunting had me smiling so much. Can't wait to see more. Thank you!
You need bellara to get captured to get the full romance scene if neve is taken you only get the first half. Thematically I think the love interest should be the one captured which makes the reunion much more emotional and cinematic plus fits with the storyline pretty well.
I romanced Neve my 1st play through at first I thought Neve was like morrigan personality wise so I was a little disappointed when she turned out to be really nice lol but I enjoyed it just wish we had more scenes with her romantically it didn't feel fulfilling :(
I really like Neve as a character but I was a bit disappointed by the flirts and her responses. There's also a bit too much repetition in some of the scenes. I'm worried about the other romances now lol
I just saw the clip of the romance with that Taash lady. The part where she growls and talks about "tasting the neck by the collarbone"....hahahaha it was horrific
I'm not buying the romance, sadly. The dialogue just isn't selling to me that they have chemistry. Even at here 51:24 after everything they went through, she said Rooke coming back was a "lost cause" at first. Like Neve, give back the love for once.
@@themessenger1871 Are you a man by any chance? Because being this emotionally oblivious is CRIMINAL XD By being a "lost cause" Neve 100% meant that team spent days/weeks (however long it was) to search for Rook in the fade and bring them back, but even despite it looking like a "lost cause" and not beaing able to do so, or seeming it will not be done and Rook is lost forever - she could not keep herself from waiting for Rook, and hoping Rook will come back to her - just as Rook promised.
I came here bc I was hoping the “non hardened” version of her romance will be better but not really. I finished her quests and got “hero” status and it still feels like they’re not dating?? They never really talk about their feelings for each other, which wouldn’t be an issue if the VAs have good chemistry but they don’t. I really want to like her romance because it sounds perfect on paper but I’m left wanting.
I know what you mean, if someone asked me what type of character I'd wanna romance before the game was out, Neve would be top of my list. Btw, I didn't know you could still romance her if she was hardened, you can't romance a hardened Lucanis. I wonder why they did that.
@@SlothMammothidk, but I was hoping a hardened Neve would give some conflict between Rook and her and make a better story, I’m disappointed that they barely addressed the issue. I’ve heard Lucanis and Neve get together if not romanced, and is actually better than what they each have with Rook lol. Think I might try Bellara next instead
Thanks for the Neve romance, I didn't like the game but decided to check romances. And suddenly Neve's one isn't bad. She's a good character, but I think that this story is unsuitable for her. (although this story itself is a Frankenstein stitched together from different pieces...) Her character would fit a game like Dragon Age 2, where the story focuses on minor personal problems, but there's uncontrollable catastrophe coming. Hypothetically, she could have investigated things in Kirkwall, and, as she's stated as a patriot, gotten involved in the conflict between Meredith, Orsino and Eltina, and the Qunari invasion. And this vibe of a noir detective seems perfect for a dark and gloomy place like Kirkwall. Also Nev would have an interesting dynamic with Isabela and Aveline as something in between. She is a serious person but not a paladin. She has a dry humor and is not a fan of promiscuity. And cares for people. A good character in a bad game. Such a shame.
Yeah the story was originally supposed to be similar to da2 - smaller scope, smaller , more personal stakes, with a close-knit team working on heists/cases together. I think Neve was probably conceived then and she'd fit there better, you're right. In Veilguard, she gives us some contacts for other companions and that's it basically. I wouldn't agree that it's a bad game, I've enjoyed big chunks of it personally, esp near the end, but I agree that the interactions between the companions felt off. A lot of it was sanitized and simplified. I wish I could see Neve butt heads with some of our previous companions, too. The only conflict in this game I saw was between her and Emmrich and they solve it in the next banter lol. And she still makes sure to mention that she likes Manfred while they're beefing
There is chemistry between them, but a lot of lost potential as well. I felt that I had the least interaction with her, and she was the only character I actually cared about and wanted to interact with. I would like to get to know her better, but as I said, a lost potential on so many levels. I tried flirting with Harding, and based on these two experiences, I can say that the flirting most of the time doesn't sound like flirting. I was annoyed that some of the heart options were just friendly options and had to avoid them not giving a wrong impression. Overall, I think that the voice actress did a great job, and personally I find her way better with female Rook. That is another thing I'm disappointed with - a lack of different sexual orientations. It's not realistic, and it is one of the reasons why it isn't deep enough.
This was the first one I played so far; I really took my time with my first playthrough cause Dragon Age is my favourite series. I'm gonna do most of the others soon and post them here, and I'll come back to respond :)
Omg... im really trying to love Neve but god her line delivery is god awful.. especially the way she says "i love you" at the end.. holy f*ck thats bad...
Just finished this game as well, but romanced Bellara. I can say, the romance is better with Never and that’s not saying much. As a long time DA fan, I just expected more… better, if I’m being honest. The game play itself was good, story was interesting but the writing…. Cringe. To be fair though, I don’t think the game is as bad as a lot of people are saying, however it’s hard to call this anywhere near a masterpiece. And the fact that I beat it in 63 hours of gameplay with all characters at max level was disappointing. How do they go from an open world mammoth like DAI to this?
The game doesn't need to be open world to be great. Mass effect 2 wasn't open and yet is a masterpiece. But too much open stuff is bad. I love DAI but the power system and grinding in that game took it down for me..
@ I guess that’s the beauty of it all, everyone have different preferences. I thoroughly love exploring open worlds and the hidden puzzles with epic hidden treasures was always a bonus for me! I’m someone who’d rather spend over 100 hours on a game, I guess I’m more into Skyrim type gameplay than just forced into a certain tunnel. It felt much more DA2 which was my least favourite (albeit still a decent game, and I loved the writing in that one).
I mean inquisition got hammered by criticisms on how it was more of an mmo with such big open worlds with nothing but fetch quests and material gathering to the point the "leave the hinterlands" meme was a thing for while. It's pretty obvious they took inspiration from mass effect with a more linear story based levels but spruced it up with the big open cities and arlathan that open up as you progress the story and the companion quests also open new areas, wich imo for me is a lot more interesting than the big maps of inquisition that had nothing but herbs and mediocre loot. Loot that was completely pointless in inquisition even since the best stuff was crafted too.
@@pinnacleevolution1634 it’s too bad DAI got critiqued for something that I personally thought made the game more immersive and fun! I haven’t played any of the mass effect games but I’m sure you’re right as it is the same studio producing both. It’s always tricky trying to make everyone happy, cause it’ll never really happen.
Good characters, interesting situations but bad writing. Many scenes when the chemistry feels in the air but the dialogues are very poor, feels like something missing, even childish. What a waste!, so sad.
