    This is one of THE BEST bikes to learn on. Not too much power, super simple, and most of it can be thrown away stock. Great video

      This was my first bike (2003 model) I completely agree, one of the best first bikes ever. Not too small, but not big. Nimble, low to the ground and easy to maneuver. And it sips on gas too. Great little bike! Just a pain to get the carb off! I've since upgraded to the VTX1800C. 😁

    Thank you for this video breakdown of how to remove the carburetor... I had my 2007 VT600CD sitting in the garage for 3 years without any fuel stabilizer. Last week tried to get it started and only ran on choke, died as soon as i gave it gas or pushed the choke in.... Your video was very helpful and probably the only one out there that shows the all the steps...
    One think I did differently was to remove the tank altogether. The 2 claps you have to loosen at the connection with the intake (at the back of the carb) are just a nightmare to unscrew. Also, one mistake I made and panicked after i put it back together, and it wouldn't start, was that i accidentally unscrewed the idle screw too much and that's what was causing it not to idle.
    But the job took me about 5 hours in total, considering this was my first time rebuilding a carb, I was very happy. Thanks for your help!

    I bought a 2003 VLX 600 in 2008. I removed the vacuum operated fuel valve and also bypassed the coolant lines that flowed through the intake manifold. I also removed the whole air intake filter system and replaced it with a pod filter. To also get improved performance, I got an extension for a stepped drill bit and ran it up through the mufflers and drilled the two end caps in each muffler out to 3/4". Last year, I removed the mechanical speedometer along with the lights in it and all three of the lights in the top fork mount. I made my own mounts and swapped out the stock tank for one off a 750 Aero and a tank mounted speedometer that I was able wire all the lights into the wiring on my bike. I now have an extra gallon of gasoline and can travel much longer than I could before. One other thing I have to say, is my Honda VLX 600 is probably the best bike I ever owned. I did make a video of what it looks like now.

      You change it to gravity fed fuel? I need your help with something if you can help me. I’m seeing that fuel piece for the first time because of purchasing an 07 engine. Was only trying to replace my 05 engine because I was told they were the same engine. I bought a brand new carb for the 05 a month ago will it fit the 07? I didn’t even realize there were more than one type of single carb. Also my 05 cylinder heads didn’t have reed valves(little rectangular pieces with hoses coming out, one on each head)..the 07 engine has them..idk where the hoses go..or if my carb would fit😕

    Would it matter if I blocked off the coolant hoses instead? I live on a Mediterranean island so the climate is pretty mild all year round. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean blocking off the coolant hoses so there is no transfer into the radiator? I would advise against that. I live in Hawaii where the temperatures are moderate also, but the temperatures inside the engine are very hot. I would expect it to gradually overheat even if the climate is pretty mild, and even if there is a constant air flow over the engine

    At 8:36 when you talk about the vacuum line . That was a recall from honda . Its called the VFP vacuum . It is the main reason the bike won't start . The VFP gets stuck ans it won't let fuel get to the carb . You have to bypass the VFP and plug where the line goes into the rear cylinder . Here is a video that shows the VFP .th-cam.com/video/glAgAl-xt-c/w-d-xo.html and here is a link to the screw you need to plug the cyclinder hole . shoptjbc.com/collections/vt600-parts-collection/products/afp-vacuum-port-plug?_pos=3&_sid=633df4322&_ss=r Here is a video of removing the AFP and plugging the hole th-cam.com/video/S0fYNWPkwp0/w-d-xo.html
