I think Tesla is also anticipating using Optimus bots to manufacture Optimus bots. That would make them radically cheap, provided they bring most of the manufacturing in-house.

Of course that would be one aim. But more importantly, teaching it how to repair itself by cannablising parts from a broken unit!. That would be great fun to do the training!. Errr simulation I meant.
There should be a term for that sinking feeling of awkward dread as Scott gleefully walks us down the gangplank toward the awful pun/Dad joke that we all know is coming. I think his joy is inversely proportional to our inner pain 🤣🤣🤣
$1000 for an actuator at scale? That seems crazy high. Would like to hear from Tesla how much they expect the actuators to cost at scale.
At scale it could easily be $50 or less.

New drive train for $25000 car is $1000 including gear train and invertor.

I’m not alone … perhaps not all of us admit it …
No way it will cost this much in volume. These are prices if you were to order a few of these.
Part of the future plan is to introduce solid state actuators, rather than the current style. These have a much smaller design footprint with more force using less energy. Initial design will be for the bot, but later moved over to the Tesla range.
Given the rapid convergence with TeslaBot gen I, and II on the original artist's impression, I predict TeslaBot gen III will closely resemble the original mock up. Be very cool.

Good discussion. Optimus bots have the full two dimensional plane to navigate instead of well marked roads but since they are traversing so much slower I have to believe solving autonomy for the vehicles and solving autonomy for Optimus is happening rapidly/soon and both projects can help each other across the finish line towards the march of nines perfection. With no safety regulations to worry about there should be no barriers to adoption of Optimus across all segments of human society and our Tesla stock will reflect the value when the revenue numbers become undeniable and real and quite frankly “off the charts”! Optimus bots can help clean robotaxis for example and even plug them in for charging in the near term

Cost at scale will be around $5k plus $2k for software and Tesla will sell for $15k. Machines will build machines. Might drop to $10k
Down in the weeds, the interconnection of both signal and power using better than running wire per wire, will help a lot of on optimization like the Cybertruck Etherbus did, a 'robobus' is needed. The loop style networking of both power and signaling allows a lot of redundancies.
yes, the economics of a huge economic impact are not understandable today. We are not going resource unconstrained where 'money means nothing' economy.

I took a virus class at giving online at Columbia University and the class is 26 lecture classes. It was during the pandemic in 2020 and this class was so educational. I later learned how to make the reagent for the PCR TEST. Also real cool. Then the teacher explained about the different Covid virus and the spite protein that hooks to the ACE2 for virus to be absorbed by the human body.
