      Not really. ‘Raw’ mango is a term that’s usually used for the green mango that is used for pickles, chutneys and curries. When you say ‘unripe’ mango- it mostly refers to the sweet mangoes you normally eat, but that are not yet fit for consumption. The usage may differ from place to place but from what I’ve heard in India, this is how it normally is

      @@backupwhatsup the usage of "raw" In this sentence is wrong. eating an uncooked fully ripe mangoes is also termed eating "raw mangoes". the mangoes you use for cooking are unripe mangoes. mangoes that are yellow but not ready to consume are partially ripe mangoes. the yellow/orange flesh juicy mangoes are fully ripe mangoes. Raw means uncooked

    Drumsticks are a 'superfood' rich in iron and a lot of vitamins. Look it up, they're recognised as a superfood just like quinoa and eggs. They're called Moringa in English I believe. It is an anglicised version of the Tamil name murungakkai. In India it is common to cook them in dal or sambar. The mango is unripe, that's why it is green and the insides are white. They're sour and add a lot of flavour to savoury dishes. Looking at the shape it looks like banganapalli mangoes.

    • @sudhirkhamari
      @sudhirkhamari 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Moringa is adapted name in english, the root does come from *Sanskrit* (Not Tamil) word "MorunGli". Called by multiple name in multiple indian language, but all sounds like "Murung + some phonics sound".

      @kunalandevakirubai8136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@sudhirkhamari Hello u got it wrong .. it's Tamil word per etymology .. Murugugakai is morphology if the word Muruku (twisted) + Kai (unripe fruit/veg) - which clearly shows it's derived off Tamil. Origin off words is determined when the word is broken down to the last bit that gives meaning.
      Just as Diwavalli in Hindi but not breaking it is just Diwali (bankrupt) + Ali (person) but in Tamil it's Deebavalizh morphed to Deepavalli
      On breaking it in Tamil it's Deebam or deepa (Light/Flame) + Valzhi (path) meaning By Path/way of Light which in other words is Righteous Path as Light or Flame is associated as Truth or Right .

      @Sriram Rajagopalan The mango is a variety called Totapuri and looks like a parrot's beak in shape. Even when fully ripe, it has a slightly sour taste. In this case it is raw. It is also eaten raw, with some salt and chilli powder.
      Also, apart from the moringa vegetable, the leaves of the tree are also consumed. They are very rich in iron. The water in which the leaves are boiled has enough iron to substitute the iron supplements given to pregnant women. I have seen this at first hand.

    Vermicelli ( what you felt was thinner than angel hair pasta LOL) is used for deserts primarily.
    Sago is Tapioca - so they made a kheer/ payasam combining sago with vermicelli - I hope that helps.

    The drumstick is the bunch of a foot and half long pods standing in the right corner when all vegies were sorted in the beginning.
    Also, in Indian culinary, the orca must be cooked without making it slimy. One easy way to do it is completely avoiding water until it's cooked, and adding something acidic. You can use raw mangos, kokum or tamarind for this purpose.

    Raw mango gives the sour taste, so these are used in the cooking to give the taste and to make you eat more....
    Drumsticks are like some kind of vegetable when it is cooked inside it becomes soft and juicy where you can chew the juicy drumsticks and throw the pulp....these are commonly used when cooking sambar, rasam and some special dishes....

    Guys, drumsticks and raw mangoes can be bought in an Indian grocery store. Not sure where you guys live. Hunt an Indian grocery store, you should be able to find everything. Drumsticks and drumstick leaves are called Moringa and can also be found in a Chinese store, just the leaves. Moringa leaves are the most nutritious green leaf in the world. Look it up.

    Those mangoes are unripe mangoes
    Sour and sometimes a combination of sour and sweet to taste
    Generally used for pickles, sambar, murabba etc..

  • @gowthamns8228

    Yeah they added everything in one shot, we used to make sambar with only a few vegetables and named it differently. That's why Indians have more vegetables compared to non-veg sections. On top of that, a lot of veg menus are available in India. Here we don't see panner, mushroom, cauliflower, etc, etc, etc............

    Sambar is very versatile... It's a spicy lentil stew full of goodness. You can eat it with rice and papad or as the dp for idlis and dosas. It's savoury vegetarian comfort food, ideal for vegans (if you don't use ghee). You get some good sambar masalas which will give you an authentic taste.

    Drumsticks are known as Moringa in the west. Its considered as superfoods in west now. In west you have moringa leaves from the tree but the veggie of the moringa tree is the moringa sticks. In India its called Murangika and is predominantly found everywhere in south. Until recently it was a poor man's veggie but with the labeling of it as superfoods in the west its gone up in value in the nutritional charts.
