I've been cutting my own hair for almost a year now. And every time I do I go back to your original video before I do. You help give me courage and confidence that its a simple thing to do with great results! Thank you!
I have to say that I am impressed on how you managed to cut your hair so straight. I'm a hairstylist and I have seen so many people do so many mistakes.
I have never cut my own hair before but I used this method and it worked out perfectly! My hair now looks much healthier :) Thank you so much for uploading this video I'm so happy with the results.
***** it was amazing video! But can you show how to cut front hairs into bangs? I have round shaped face, so it will be helpful to hide the roundness. Please.
I have never cut my own hair before and I literally just tried this and I cut around an inch and a half off and my hair looks so good. That saved me $50AUD. Thank you Lilith for showing me this :-). And by the way my hair is ridiculously thick and naturally wavy and it worked for me :-).
I was literally just thinking about how badly I needed to trim my split ends. I tried this technique, having never cut my own ends before, and it turned out wonderful! Obviously not as perfect as if a stylist did it, but it did the job and saved me money to boot. Thank you!
this really works, i tried it and the results were awesome. First, i thought if it not worked but i secretly cut my hair in my room and now i don't need to spend my money in hair salons..... THANK U SOOOOO MUCH
Super practical video! I am absolutely satisfied with result. I cut wet hair, and all is excellent! Thank you SO MUCH for this brilliant super saver advice! Now, instead of spending money for someone just cut my hair in a straight line, I've done it myself. And I will use the money instead to go to salon and pay for a hair treatment,...so my hair es even more happier! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are the best!
I'm thinking about cutting my own hair, so I've been watching a few more videos on how to do it yourself, and I think I've figured out why your cut turned out to look like an upside down V. I think what you need to do is pull the first elastic down more. This way, the different strands of hair will be pretty much at the same level. When you have your ponytail a bit higher, like you show in the video, the middle strands will be shorter, because they go right through the center of the ponytail (shorter distance), whereas the outside strands need to wrap partially around your head, so they will be longer. Hope this helps anyone that tries it. Should save you a step :)
Serena Naeem, you can do it. The first time cut my hair, I put layers in it and it turned out great. My sister thought I went to the salon. Give it a try
Thank you so much, I cut my hair last week after watching your first video, the result was nice and I felt proud of myself.. I'd really like you to make a video about how to make layers because my hair is long and I'd like to add some texture to it. Thanks again
I was always wanting to find a simple guide to cutting blunt hair (even though it SEEMS easy I didn't want to make a mistake!) and I just did this and loveddd! Results were exactly how I wanted it- a simple, cute blunt cut! Thanks sooo much!
Thank you for sharing your techniques! I've trimmed my bangs between haircuts for years, but wanted to try it with the rest of my hair, too. Tried it for a second time today and it looks uneven in the back, but pretty even when I bring it to the front, which is an improvement over the last time. My hair is really thick, too, so I might need to do more layers in order for things to look better.
Thank you for making this video!! I've watched other videos on how to cut your own hair, but this one is by far the simplest video I've seen! I'm excited to try this now because I've been wanting to learn how to cut my own hair for some time now and of course it will require practice, but I can't wait to try it out!!
I have tried other techniques and always end up with an inverted V situation so thank you SO MUCH for including that second step to correct it! I followed your technique and my hair turned out GREAT and it looks and feels so much better!!!
I have just cut my own hair using this technic and my hair looks healthier and you wouldn't know I did it myself, I'm so happy with the results thank you
Such a smart way to cut your hair! When I have tried to it without the ponytail, just the layers, I never get it even. Since it was getting time to cut it I had to try it out right away and it went great! Would love to se a video for cutting layers!
Thank you SOOO much for this video Lilith! I've been thinking about both dying and cutting my own hair but I haven't had the guts to do it, that is, until now! I've cut my hair and dyed it numerous times but since my hair's soooo long right now I just don't want to mess up y'know? So, once again, thank you, merci, danke, tack, kiitos, gracias, спасибо!!!
Just did it! Very happy with the result. Be sure not to cut too much, it becomes short rapidly. A little bit difficult for thicker hair but really not impossible 😜. A big thank you ❤️
OMG thank you so much for posting this!! I just tried it out, and it worked really well. Actually I got quite brave and went and put a few layers through it using somewhat simular principles, and now honestly this is the best cut I've had in years. I don't think i'll ever be going back to the $100 hair dressers again!
So all the hair salons near me charge more than $25 just for a 1 and a 1/2 inch trim! i watched this a cut my hair myself! I'm the type of person that is so attached to my hair and it was hard for me to even get myself to do this but it was super easy and my results were perfect! Thank you so much!
I tried your method to cut my hair by myself and it worked really great! But I don't like the blunt cut as much as ... I don't know how to call it ... a more "feather-like" look. Can you show a method to cut hair like that? That would be so great! Love, how you explain things in your videos. It's so easy to understand.

Thank you for sharing this video :) I cut my hair tonight with this method from almost waist-long hair to my sholders. I had layers, but my hair is very thin, so when I combed through with my fingers it was the feeling that I don't have too much hair. But with this lenght I'm sooo happy. I miss the long hair, but it's nicer. Thank you very much
Thank you for this video. Many tutorials on youtube forget this last step. I had followed another one with the hair ties, but then found that I had this dip. The last step was missing. I just saved my hair from having to get it fixed at the hairdressers. Thank you so much!
Im always looking for ways to make my hair look thicker and this actually worked i just cut my hair yesterday using this technique skipped the part about doing it in layers but i worked anyways and looks perfect!!!! Im going to do this from now on and i am never going back to the salon the last time i did they gave me side bangs that i never asked for and were a pain to grow out!!! Thank so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic video, thank you so much for sharing with us! Just cut my hair today following every step and the result is amazing much better than the most of the haircuts I ever had!! I'm so happy!
I have really long hair, and I've been using your old video to trim it. I love the results, and get a lot of compliments on my hair. I'll definitely use this when I want to more heavily trim it. Please show how to do layers :)
Honestly I think this is a great tutorial. I went to get a trim from a hairstylist before but there was still about an inch of split ends left. I wouldn't blame her she was very busy and had many customers. So I'm hoping this works for my hair. Thanks for the tutorial!
omg. this was exactly what i needed. i just trimmed my hair per your instructions and the results are flawless! my thin hair looks much thicker now! :D Thank you, thank you!
This technique literally saved my hair..my ends were breaking off terribly and my hair was thinning out faster than it should have. After following this, I now have short, yet very cute hair:) I'm only 14, and after cutting a few inches and reducing heat, my hair finally looks a bit healthier & feels so much softer! So thank you so much for sharing with us :)
Thanks Lilith, this has encouraged me to try this method of cutting my own hair, like you I was worried about going to the hair stylist and getting too much cut off, this way I can judge for myself what needs taking off, and boy does it need a trim! lol, thanks again xx
I would love to see the "layers" video you mentioned. I have extremely thick, curly and unruly hair and would love to layer it. Thanks and love your videos!
This method seems so much easier!! I can't wait to try it this way. Been cutting my own hair for years and its grown longer than when the hairstylist chops a bunch off :(
Next time I need to cut my hair, I'm gonna straighten it and try this! I've had a few too many bad hair cuts, being able to do it myself would be awesome!!
OMG that is genius. I cut my own hair but I just do the sectioning part that you do second. That is so much better and it will allow me to get the U shape instead of a blunt cut. Thanks so much for uploading this video!
Brilliant! This is first time I dared to cut my own hair. There are so many videos on how to do this, but I get even more nervous when it involves too much messing about. But this video is very straight forward, clear and pretty basic which is ideal for me! I did cut a little less than Lilith did, but the result is very even and hair feel much healthier straight away! However I do have more of a gradual slide at the front(unlike Lilith's one length), so I improvised on that bit, but wasn't a rocket science. I just slide my fingers in diagonal way whilst cutting down the front section (which is sectioned from the crown to the ear). Ta very much!
I would love to see a video of feathering the ends, like you mentioned. I have really thick hair and straight cut ends look thicker than the rest of my hair. Love this video!
Thanks for the video! I used your technique to cut about 1/2 an inch off and it turned out great! I have the same length hair and just a little bit thicker but same texture. My hair looks super healthy now. Love your videos!! 👍✌️🌟
Whoa! Thanks so much for this video, you make it look so easy! My hair is super thick, so I would love to see your alternative cutting technique in a future video!
Amazing! Lilith I have the same type of hair as you do. I don't like cutting it because it grows sooooo slow, but I have seen a BIG difference in my hair since I started using Wen products.
Thank you so much for the tip! I have a very long hair and usually I cut it myself though I always have some parts which are messed up. I'm about to try your method with the edges of my hair, it looks excellent!
This is a really smart way of doing your ends alone! Although when she says to use more layers if you have thicker hair if you try this you MUST listen! I didn't, I did it with two and had an awkward look that I had to free hand and was really hard to fix. But other than that this works really well and is so simple.
I totally loved it. I would also love to see the other technique you mention for giving some shape to the ends feathering them and also for layers. Thank you :)
Please make a video about feathering and layers :) I love your videos, you make everything look so easy and you explain it really well. Keep up the good work! x
I have thin/fine hair but alot of it. Did this cut myself and turned out very well. All I'd say is ask someone if it's even all around. Also only cut little bits.
Thanks for making this video. When it comes to prioritizing things, somehow getting my hair cut always falls to the bottom of the list and my hair just ends up in a high bun to hide the ends. I'll definitely be trying this soon.
Lilith, since your previous video that I never back to cut my hair in saloon. My hair grow like I always wanted and now I'll try this new technique \o/. Thank you always for share your talent and tips! Xx from Brazil
I have done this for years on myself and my kids, (I have six) to save money and it works like a charm. Make sure you use professional scissors and start with only one inch sections.
Hi! I´ve been followed you for the last 3 years, I have made several hair stylings thanks to you. Could you please show me how to cut my hair in layers? and fringe as well? Thanks! Love your videos! :)
Thank you so much for this video! I had very long and pretty thick hair. I followed these steps and my hair looks better than ever! I'm very happy with my new hair! :-)
I would like to see other techniques too. I have very thick, very long hair & so far have only been brave enough to cut my bangs. Regular scissors have trouble cutting it too because it's so thick!
This video has been an absolute wallet-saver for me. Because I don't have much in my wallet! This video helped me cut my hair for the first time. Just finished doing it a second time a few months later, and the results have been amazing for both!

I have never cut my own hair before but I used this method and it worked out perfectly! My hair now looks much healthier :) Thank you so much for uploading this video I'm so happy with the results.
***** hi my name is emna
JmuirR
Your hair is not thin! It is beautiful. And your previous video about cutting hair inspired me to do it always by myself.
***** it was amazing video! But can you show how to cut front hairs into bangs? I have round shaped face, so it will be helpful to hide the roundness. Please.
?????? I never saw thinner hair at an adult person.
I JUST TRIMMED IT YESSS thank you my hair finally looks healthy!!!!

I just cut 1.5 inches off my hair using your method and it turned out GREAT! Thank you I just saved $50.
this really works, i tried it and the results were awesome. First, i thought if it not worked but i secretly cut my hair in my room and now i don't need to spend my money in hair salons..... THANK U SOOOOO MUCH

hahaha true same here!
Serena Naeem, you can do it. The first time cut my hair, I put layers in it and it turned out great. My sister thought I went to the salon. Give it a try
Cindy Taylor same! I didn't think I could do but I did it anyway!
Double Trouble and how did it turn out? I bet it looks good. Mine did. Just don't get carried away like I did. I kept wanting to cut my hair.
Cindy Taylor Yes it turned out very well 😊
Thank you so much, I cut my hair last week after watching your first video, the result was nice and I felt proud of myself.. I'd really like you to make a video about how to make layers because my hair is long and I'd like to add some texture to it. Thanks again

Perfect timing with this video Lilith, especially with school just around the corner in America
THANK YOU so much

Good video with such a technique! Keep up the good work!
Finally a useful video that really shows how to cut hair straight.
Yayyy...It works beautiful for me guys . I think i will never go to salon for this simple haircut. Thanks a lot for this video.

I have really thick and long hair (60 cm) and this method works magic on me. Thank you so much for sharing it!
Would you mind doing a video on how to cut layers? This technique worked wonderfully, thank you!
I would love to see a video of feathering the ends, like you mentioned. I have really thick hair and straight cut ends look thicker than the rest of my hair. Love this video!
this tutorial helps a lot. I've been thinking of ways to cut my hair to get rid of split ends. thank you so much for this tutorial :)
This is life changing! My hair is thick even when straightened and it looks so good after this method of trimming! Now I don't need the salon
Thanks for the video! I used your technique to cut about 1/2 an inch off and it turned out great! I have the same length hair and just a little bit thicker but same texture. My hair looks super healthy now. Love your videos!! 👍✌️🌟
Congrats on finally hitting 1M!!
Whoa! Thanks so much for this video, you make it look so easy! My hair is super thick, so I would love to see your alternative cutting technique in a future video!
I've used this technique the last 2 years, works great
Amazing! Lilith I have the same type of hair as you do. I don't like cutting it because it grows sooooo slow, but I have seen a BIG difference in my hair since I started using Wen products.
You hit a million. Congratulations!
I've been thinking of getting rid of my layers, but I'd love to see the layers video so I know how to maintain my current hairstyle!
Thank you so much for the tip! I have a very long hair and usually I cut it myself though I always have some parts which are messed up. I'm about to try your method with the edges of my hair, it looks excellent!

I just tried it, it turned out great! Thank you Lilith!
I would love a video on how to cut your own layers!
Your hair is gorgeous lillith! And congrats on one million subbies!
I appreciate this so much. I have used this technique several times. it is very easy to do. You are so pleasant. Thank you so much.
I totally loved it. I would also love to see the other technique you mention for giving some shape to the ends feathering them and also for layers. Thank you :)
Hi Lilith! Could you please please please make a video where you show us how to cut one's own hair in layers? Thank youuuu!
it's the first time I tried to cut my hair and it really really worked out! if I fail in life, I can become a hairdresser haha thanks for method :))
I would love it if you would show how to layer hair!!! You always look amazing!!!
Please make a video about feathering and layers :)
I love your videos, you make everything look so easy and you explain it really well. Keep up the good work! x
I have layered long hair so I'll love for you to make a video on how to cut it.
Congrats for 1 million subbies Lilith!
I have thin/fine hair but alot of it. Did this cut myself and turned out very well. All I'd say is ask someone if it's even all around. Also only cut little bits.
I've used your technique, so simple and easy! Thumbs up :-) Please do a tutorial for layers, I'd love it!
Theyre not spilt ends. They're divorced ends!
wow! ur hair is so sleek and straight! I lov ur hair! its so perf!!!
thats amazing! I will try cut 1" to see if I can, I have a very long hair and I hated going to hair salon.
You make it look so easy!😊 I would love a video on how to cut layers or maybe bangs! Thanks💜
I'd love to see how to feather your ends!
i use this technique since i first seen it..it's perfect for me! thank you Lilith!
I love your hair, cant believe you achieve so nice cut. Looks very professional !
I have done this for years on myself and my kids, (I have six) to save money and it works like a charm. Make sure you use professional scissors and start with only one inch sections.
Congrats for reaching 1 million subscribers!! :) Your deserved it! x
Hi! I´ve been followed you for the last 3 years, I have made several hair stylings thanks to you. Could you please show me how to cut my hair in layers? and fringe as well? Thanks! Love your videos! :)
Thank you so much for this useful tutorial, my hair is layered can you please do a tutorial oh how to cut layer, thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video! I had very long and pretty thick hair. I followed these steps and my hair looks better than ever! I'm very happy with my new hair! :-)
I am doing this TODAY! Thank you for this method!!
Just coming back to reference your video again. Been doing this technique since you uploaded this and haven't been to a hair salon since. :)
Can you please show the feathered ends / layers technique?
Thank you for the helpful video.
Hi Lilith, love this tutorial! Could you please make a tutorial on layering hair sometime in the future? Thanks so much!
