Plot twist, Ciskhan created this build in 2001 and resigned to prove that works even today
😂😂😂 great comment we were all thinking it 😉

LOLLL
These old build order games are really fun to watch. It'd be cool of you played with one versus another professional player who also was forced to use an old build order.
That would be fun. I reeeeally love these weird matches with special rules and this is a good one!
I kinda prefer using them against modern meta to show how outdated they are but this would be fun too haha
Yes. And on legacy Arabia 😈
"Your villager distribution should be 3 on deer, 3 on gold, 9 on wood, and 6 idle villagers under your TC." 2001 was crazy.
let him cook, let him cook
He definitely meant ‘at this point your boat will run out so you’ll have 6 idle vills, here’s what to do with them’ not ‘leave 6 at your tc for no reason
Is the boat the secret to the extra wood? 😂@@bostonspartan4194
yeah but it is funnier to pretend that past gamers were dumb@@bostonspartan4194
@@bostonspartan4194 yea I can't believe the fkn morons in this thread that actually believed the objective is idle vils.
It doesn't matter if your parents are proud of you or not, FIND YOUR DEER HERD!!!
Re milling the deer vs pushing: The lag in 2001 was between 1/2 second to 2 seconds, giving pushing a 50/50 chance of success at best. Meanwhile, no shift cueing and losing food when switching to different food source meant the player could not devote attention to pushing. The only reliable way of taking deer was milling or walking.
I'm sure that the food degradation was also less / zero if I remember correctly?
@@why_wait Nope, rot rates have remained unchanged since AoK.
Age of Empires historian 👁️👁️
Did you really played with 500-2000 ping back then?
Yes, we did
@@rkeykey
It was my clan guy DaRq_Raven that came up with this strat. This was called the "Mongol Power Flush." It's supposed to be done with Mongols (hunting bonus has been nerfed since) and you can easily build 3 archery ranges at start of Feudal and can get a blacksmith up quickly thereafter and get fletching. It was sick back in those days.
Hera factor, they feel so scared that they resign quickly.
In the older versions, the boars tended to be found much further away from the TC, on top of that, the boar had to be shot 2 times before they started chasing, there was a higher risk of losing the vil without loom to the chasing boar, so researching loom was almost a must at that time.
And 400 ping
You would also frequently get boars spawning behind a forest or whatever on top of the distance
Exactly the game is dumbed down now .. maps didn't even use to have 4 sheep visible at start .. you had to find your first 4 sheep and if went wrong way U lost few seconds at least .. people in this thread are so dumb.
And sometimes the vill would stop for no reason and fight the boar. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Way ahead of its time, just by being *a* build order. And not complete trash at that. Considering how little info was available on the internal numbers of the game (a.k.a. the total lack of SotL videos), I'm actually impressed.
back in the day we had our own sotl on each clan doing tests and tons of calculations, more like we had no youtube back then
@@ahuzel I can confirm, I was the sotl in my clans
We who are as old as DauT know that its impossible to lure deer and rare to discover the deer that quickly all the time (shift clicking to scout). Hera doesn't know how hard we had it .1111
Hera, may I request you play the 2000 version of aoe2 vs daut or someone else, play at the furthest server possible and maybe make it worse (to simulate the lag), follow old build orders and be on voice chat so you can suffer together.
that is an amazing idea
and to "luar" the boar you need 2 hits, and again here he only hit them once.
We NEED this!
Play an IP game against a guy on another continent with both of you using 56k modems as it was intended.
"Our lives are pitiful, that guy's a genius, this build somehow worked"🤣🤣🤣
Hera, try the 25 pop feudal with wheelbarrow off the bat. Double range skrims. This was the hottest meta of 2000/2001.
Bonus points for doing it with 5 forward vills.
coz it was impossible to effectively micro scouts back then and skirm/spear was hard to counter
Dude was following a _2000_ archer rush build order, he knew he had no chance
Videos like these bring a smile to my face! I find it so hard to learn and perfect the modern build orders, but I don’t really need to. I can just revert back to playing the build order I learned as a teenager over 20 years ago.
I wonder if the guy who made this BO was watching this. It would be so cool if he replied here
He resigned because he thought "Hera is attacking me with archers in Feudal, I'm dead, gg".
Ciskhan is known for feeling despair against stronger opponents, like he doesn't have a chance to win. He resigns instantly when he meets Sitaux sometimes.
This brings me back to the past. Cant wait untill you will try it on an actual 2001 windows 98pc
How would he make a video on such a potato pc tho 😂
@@why_wait you can export the recorded game to a pc that can edit it
@@rentabledwarf578 but part of the video would be the crap screen, mouse and keyboard set up
@@why_waitNah just use a capture card on another pc with a vga splitter on the 98 machine - 1 cable to monitor, the other to capture card.
@@why_wait mouse and keyboard? man you dont need shinny lights on your gear for you to play good.
Top tier content. So glad you went maximum efficiency and weren't pitiful.
I still remember my 28 pop 17mins faster castle into knights build from 20 years ago. Feudal rush was kinda a taboo back than. Good old ignorant days
you reactions to the mess ups to the build order mid game are amazing lmao
Actually it's more annoying that he doesn't even get them right before trying it online. Practice vs ai to at least know the order b4 doing it wrong.
This was so fun to watch lol, like and subscribed
I'm loving these Off Meta Monday selections of opd build orders. It's Dank!
I remember doing this build order probably when it was originally published xD - great video!
man these videos doing old b.o are SOOO FUNNNN to watch
the video is already worth watching bc of your reactions to the build 11 crazy strat! maybe we will see it in hc5 -.^
:D :D :D this was so hilarous, it's all about the laughter after all :) I actually remember I had a britons 3 forward range all-in-archer build in the early 2000s but I lost it :(( but it worked wonders!
had to laugh out loud, that was hilarious :D ty
Great idea for content! Thanks
Amazing vid lol. Love this write up
Okay, I've played this game for a long time, and I've seen it go through a lot of changes that have made the best build orders prioritize different things, and lots of different strategies come and go in viability...
.... But I can never remember a time playing this game when having a significant portion to majority of your villagers not doing anything was considered a positive.
Are you really this stupid. All it means is about exactly when U click up the boar runs out . The 6 on boar go 3 to gold 3 to forward build .. Hera should practice vs ai first so he can actually do the build properly. In 2000 U couldnt push boar and resource collection is not exactly the same as now. For reasons of lag and having to manual drop off.
Are U brain-dead it doesn't say that anywhere Hera is just being a clown .. the 6 bils on boar just become idle as U click up and U send 3 to gold and 3 forward. People are so fkn dumb
@@roblapouple7552
Yup, I always tried to keep my villagers doing something. I really iz this Stoopid.
@@PeterFendrich obviously since U is stooipid enough to believe Hera's lies and think that was the objective. Pathetic
This brings back memories. I had a build like this written down next to my keyboard. Might even have been this exact one.
I remember learning some of these. I know you're using some of them in HC5. Good luck!
Really enjoying these old build order videos!
2001 was COOKING
Loving this series... and I had that build order when I played on the MSN Zone.
this was actually a really fun one, cool to see it
Damn, I love the language of this build text, so nasty and bold🤣
I love how the opponnent just doing basically the same build, but was way faster. Thats shows how much faster in general the dark age become.
Unlucky that his mom went in his room and he had to eat dinner.
he had the same goal, a proxy. it looks like the red guy got only 19 and no loom, thats how he got to feudal faster
What's the modname of that mainmenu you're using? Awesome video btw the clunckiness reminded me of the old days haha
I love to see more games with this build 😄
It could be cool to see you try the old build then do a follow up with some hera secret sauce where you keep the concept but optimise a little (like pushing deer instead of mill etc)
really enjoy your videos. do you have one on best multiplay civs? I enjoy Aztecs but I feel like they only excel in a 1v1 match.
2001, playing in the Zone, the lag for most players was such that you could not rely on any micromanagement. This is probably why there was no deer luring, and loom before boars.
Also, you should be playing in 640×480 resolution with a small 4:3 monitor, 15 FPS, and a rolling ball mouse.
Damn, I had those Build Orders printed out too. For AoE2 and WC3/TfT
Best vid!
I love how he gets archer rushed while doing an archer rush.
Hera, you have to realize back when the game was released, I would say the majority of the gamer base was under 18, with some in their 20s. "In this pitiful life" would definitely be something I would have written as a 10 year old. 11
We also all had freedom of speech because our reach was limited and not monetary. Hera couldn't write stuff like that in their build orders now because that would land him on the front page of Kotaku and doxing.
Such an agressive build order, we need a longer fight with this
The poor guy recognized your build order and it triggered PTSD of all the ass whoopings he used to receive in 2001 and that's why he resigned.
"If i took Mongols I'd have the 6 idle vils for longer and it would be more optimized" HAHAHAHA! This was so great!
You brought me the nostalgia
MILL THE DEER! MILL THE DEER!!!
I've been using the idle vills strat since ever
omg.. I think I read this exact article when I was a kid
OP strat, I thought the all in double range was crazy, this is next LEVER! Personally was concerned with the uptime initially as scout rushes are the meta nowadays. How would you deal with it if it were scouts?
I’ve actually been using this build order for some time. The only difference is I start getting gold after I click up to head to fuedal. Then when fuedal age hits it’s time!
2:00 Back in 2001, pushing the deer would have been nearly impossible because of the slow internet speeds and high latency at the time hence the mill.
That was fun to watch
that was a hard time back then
hera got a mongols build but played huns, complained about not having 6 idles vills by the end of dark age but didn't notice he only made 20 vills and not 21 vills, lmao u gonna have to re-do this one
Yes very detailed instructions and Hera couldn't even follow them should have actually practiced it may have got it right ..
Ha Haaa :-D Very funny moments whole video ...😄 Super twist, -what what, he did the same thing as me ?! 🤣
“If I had mongols I would have had the 6 idle vils for longer and it would have been more optimized” 😂😂😂
Yes he could of sent them forward sooner and to gold sooner so yes archers sooner and more gold. Whats so funny about that ... Are you Reeeetarded
Can't wait to see this build in RedBull Wololo
That dark age gold play was before its time, obviously.
PITFUL LIVES!!!!
SHAMFUL DISPRAY!!
What fascinates me is that this build obviously isn't competetive today for numerous reasons (some technical, some skill iterative), but you gotta respect the tightness of the build order. It would definitely have wrecked house back in the day when people were slower. Like, I'm not a good player and just this build order having archers arrive on me that fast is a huge problem. Shows how much players have improved since them.
Lol the fact that he almost did the Same 😂😂. gg.
Would be awesome if you manage to find these guys that build the order and play them 😆
Remember we played with lag, no shift queue, losing villager resources and so on, so it makes sense
It would be interesting to see how many civs and against how many opponents this would actually work
Bro you are so good that people just don't want to play with you anymore they just resign
Congratz for HC5, keep the grind be the legend of that legendary game =)
Well played Mr. Vasco de Gama
old off meta build orders are basically a guide to MBL
next lvl build order
😂😂😂😂 omg the 6 idle
It says Mongols power flush yet Hera plays it with Huns like a madman :D
Ooh no I've used some of these old strategies! Over the past 20 years haha
Imagine in the opponent scouted Hera early and noticed no lumber camp and a bunch of villagers on straggler trees!!
"You won't have enough for 3 ranges, but you will... build 2 ranges."
Didn't follow the build properly and still won.
Spreadsheet from 2001, the wizard would have loved it :D
More of these 😂😂
You actually went up to Feudal one villager short. It was supposed to be 22 pop up.
I played in 2001, the reason you didn't have enough food was because in the AOC the minute in the age was longer, they changed the speed in the DE
That's because everything is faster (1.7x speed)...
How fun would it be to see Vasco de Hera pull out this strat with Mongols in the Semifinals and/or Finals of Hidden Cup V?
I guess the third archery range could be at home to get skirmishers for defense?
I'm not sure that collecting the enemy's berries was part of the plan.
This build is fine. All you need to do now is i stead of 22 pop up go 20 up .. push deer and still put 3 on deer 2 less on wood because saved on mill .. 3 forward builders so 3 ranges up faster and get them in his eco quickly imagine aztec or brit going be a lot archers very quickly that u can possibly have enough that he cant get many skirm scout in defence .. also not like the build was designed to he used by pros anyway .. for a 1200 that executed this build perfectly it could well win game quick defensive tower that could cover gold and wood could be optimal
Mr FixItOnline sat on his desk, his fingers hovered over his keyboard for a second, he debated his best course of action and he chose violence 111
PS: 13:40 the guy has to be a paid actor :P
Michael Bonello posted that thing. He is Maltese. Like me :D
Mr. Fixit taught me how to play!
So will the next build order you release tell us what we need to do to avoid having pitiful lives?
They have books for learning games 😮
This is for the Japanese, 50 wood mills! EASY.
Also Hera, sometimes the villes in lumber lines bump & by sometimes I mean a grain of sand under always - so some straggler tree gens with 1 or even 2 trees within 1 tile of the T.C. are fantastic to use!
12:45 - why are you towering that wood, you have straggler trees still. :=
He had no wood for farms at the moment & you just took him off of berries I wonder?
Would be fun if you could play the AOK trial map that was on zone lol
Milling deer is still the better strategy for low APM/ELO players (like me). Pushing takes practice and there are more important skills than take higher priority when you're new and still learning everything.
Run it back with the right civ
He saw a three forward range opening as opposed to his two range opening and called it gg. 😂
Deer were much harder to push back in the day
My life feels less pitiful now that I found my deer herd.
Poor Ciskhan, it happens to him again
maybe 2001 pathfinding was terrible for woodcutters so they use stragglers as bumping free zone?
It is VERY optimized thinking that the straggler trees, which are perfectly next to your TC and specifically placed there by the devs as your first wood income are useless and shouldn't be chopped.
