Linen and natural colors - it always elevates the look. Classic cuts, simple elegance. I wear a lot of linen shirt dresses, tailored shorts with linen shirts, silk palazzo trousers, leather sandals and mules. Flip flops are to be worn only on the beach or around the pool. No exceptions in my world about it. Good sun ware of course, subtle jewls. Less is more when it comes to clothing in my opinion. Love your videos! I have already adopted these principles for our hot California summers, which, fortunately are usually dry. Long linen pants/skirts/dresses and long-sleeved linen shirts in light colors actually keep one cooler in the sun than the micro-shorts and tube tops that most other American women wear abroad. Plus, I need to protect my skin, my father has to continually have cancers removed from his, I’m trying to prevent that. Straw hats are essential, too, and good sunscreen to protect skin, as are Polaroid sunglasses. Dark-tinted only sunglasses actually increase solar damage to the eyes by dilating the pupils. Polaroids and limiting sun exposure are the best way to prevent cataracts. Of the four people I know who had cataract surgery, three completely lost vision in that eye. With such a dismal failure rate, I’d rather prevent the need for that surgery

It gets very humid in the Midwest so linen, always linen. My family thinks I have an obsession with linen clothing, but there's nothing better in the summer. As I've gotten older, I wear shorts a lot less. I like dresses, skirts that hit the knees, and flowy linen pants.

I personally like to wear big straw hats. It protects me from the sun and looks chic. And when it comes to makeup: I wear a lightweight sunscreen that protects me from getting burnt. Nothing heavy though. Because I think there is nothing worse than a sticky feeling skin on a hot and humid summer day.

Dresses for humid Chicago in natural fibers are best. I agree with you about summer ready feet and hands, so very important. A tinted facial sunscreen and a red lip for me 😊

I follow most of the tips that you have mentioned. Lot more whites, cotton and linen. I love colourful light satin scarves over my head with sunglasses and flat sandals as accessories.. Definitely a lot more SPF and lot less or no foundation but i do love a little colour on my cheek and lips. Little hand woven bags are a must for me in summer & yes! Fresh melons especially cantaloupes and lots of water!! 🌞🍉🍈🤍💖 By the way, your lip colour looks amazing!!! lots of love 🤍

I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia and the heat in summer makes me ill. I usually can't wear anything that doesn't expose the upper chest/back and arm areas. I heat stroke and soak the clothes and my hair will look as though I just stepped out of the shower. Ciao Annalisa, I love this video so much! I will be visiting Italy this summer and I plan to pack lots of lightweight flowy dresses. I used to wear only tight clothes, but my style has changed a lot and I now appreciate a bold silhouette. I also love lipstick in the summer because of how easy it is to wipe off at the end of the day! (unlike mascara)

Since I am on the older side of mid- life now, in the summer I have taken to wearing beautiful wide brim hats and oversized glasses to protect my skin. They quickly give a very elegant look (but smooshing the hair, challenging upon hat removal lol!) Love & prayers bella xo!

I usually go with the natural fabric in my dresses when on Sicily. A straw hat, lipstick, sandals and a summer bag with plenty of water and healthy snacks, for those leisurely long walks. I adore wearing my natural pieces boho style jewelries. After dinner around 21:00, in full make up, heels, clutch, and ready to unwind with music and sip some cocktails in a local bar overlooking the Bay of Giardini Naxos ( from Taormina).❤️

I dress mainly in tops and palazzo pants or maxi dresses or maxi skirts. In summer I prefer them to be very flowy and natural materials. I had a burn on my leg as a child that developed into a leg ulcer with age and I prefer it covered. I still look summery though because I go with flowy and long. xxx great video. loved it xxx

Yes to all these tips. I live in hot North Carolina. I only wear cotton, linen and second hand silk. Lipstick is the only makeup plus SPF of course. Everything else would melt down my face.

Great video, you summarize everything I have experienced while spending my holidays in Italy throughout the 4 Dekaden. What I have noticed this year are the maxi skirts. I bought some and find them not only practical in the heat but also so stylish and feminine. I also love the was Italian women (and men too!) mix colours and patterns. However, not being Italian and living in the North of the Alps, I feel certain intensive colours do not match my skin tone, which is not as dark as the one of the average Italians. I also think that certain intensive colours look much better in the warm sunlight of the mediterranean regions than in the Northern European regions. Still, there is much we can adopt from Italian style! Last but not least: I love your laughing so much! Cordiali saluti d‘Italia!

Here in Texas its already over 100 degrees. I prefer cotton tiered skirts and loose cotton tunic blouses. I barely wear any makeup but lip color is a must!!
Also, hats are needed to keep my white hair from turning yellow. Sunnies hide the fact that I'm not wearing eye makeup. I never wear flip flops anymore.

Enjoy taking photos, I think you can always differentiate photographers from tourists… also based on the images and framing… versus the “selfie” 😂❤️ but whichever way you want to employ to capture your memories, they are yours, go for it ✨📷

I don’t think it’s an Italian thing. I think any culture has various skin types. Mine is really dry for example. Just work with a moisturizer that is best for your skin ❤️❤️

Hi Annalisa, My whoIe family and I are going to Rome and Spello next month, woo hoo! I get bored wearing the same colors so I definitely add color to make me happy. I usually pick two neutrals like white and flax and then a pop of color. I'm an American girl so I always bring a light jean jacket in white or faded blue and a pair of white jeans for night time. I'm the family makeup artist so I bring enough makeup (to choke a horse, lol) for the ladies. For day; tinted moisturizer and a neutral pink or nude lip. Night makeup will be glowy with glossy lips in melon or pinky red. One thing I love about the fashionable women of Italia is, they always match their bag with their shoes. I saw a woman get on her bicycle wearing a linen dress and a small yellow backpack with yellow suede flats. I immediately wanted to change. Love from NYC xoxog
Yes we generally do match! 😂 and also we ride bicycles in heels and dresses up. I miss that so much. One of my favorite summer looks as far as makeup is a good glowing tan with a red/orange lip and a light swipe of mascara! 🥰😘❤️ have fun in Italy. ✨

You can find it anywhere, I am always touching, feeling, crinkling and researching the fabric, I also look very closely to the garment stitching and cut… the overall craftsmanship is important.

I generally don’t look at brands perse, but definitely look at the fabric, craftsmanship and quality. I love perusing little unique boutiques and occasionally even thrift stores. It’s a mix and balance 😉💞✨
Great info! I am going to Italy the end of Summer first part of Sept. I am attending a wedding and holiday. In the states we have/had an old rule that I am not sure applies any longer here, but what about Italy? - 'do not wear white after Labor Day, and no linen'. I assume September will still be rather warm. What would you recommend? Thank you!
Rules = Break them! Wear what you want ! We wear white anytime even in winter, it’s all about which fabrics you choose. September will still be warm, also depends where you will be ❤️❤️🇮🇹

I am looking at a lot of linen pieces, but am having difficulty as a guest and the dress's available for an afternoon garden wedding. Too beachy, tropical or over the top fancy.

Anna whats about the colourfull dresses like floral? I have a lot. I like colours. Flowing dresses from confi material is very good idea. But I dont know how can I get them. In Hungary many made by something poliester and here the men prefer bodycon type. And even if I can find. If its flowy for me not the best cause not empashize my shape.

Is it my imagination or am I pazza but they seem “hot” to me…like behind the lens themselves. It feels like the area of my eyes and the very tops of my cheekbones are being baked…maybe the dark lens/dark color makes them feel hotter? 🤷🏼♀️

However, in my last trips to Italy in the past few years I have noted lots of women in the city with Birkenstock ...ne ho un paio anch' io, ma le uso solo per far giardinaggio perche' le trovo comode ma orrende. Che ne pensi di questo trend?

Every time I go to Italy in spring or summer, I always bring summer dresses or light wrap dresses. I remember first time I went...I brought jeans and leggings...big mistake! No one wore them ( except for tourists) because it was too hot! Rome esp is warm...so my suggestion is bring leggings for travel but not for sight seeing or hanging out.
