- This is an alternative Pokemon speedrun, where I catch and use Vulpix (and only Vulpix, not it's evolution) to beat the entire game. For more information, I highly recommend reading the FAQ.

I originally routed this for a bounty last month where the aim was to beat the game in under 4:30 with the lowest BST Pokemon possible. I only had 1 day to do attempts so couldn't quite bring Vulpix under the bar in one day, but came home and with a few more attempts, but a nice run in that crushed it.
This was really fun to route, and had to come up with some creative ideas that will set a future blueprint for other not so good Alt Mains in the future (like how to beat Red).
This run had some incredibly good moments, and some incredibly bad ones. With a Pokemon this weak, you're always gonna have some terrible fights, because there's so much more variance with the battles. Definitely happy enough with this to move on, given my goal was sub 4:30

Oh yay! I love these Alt runs! Ninetails is one of my favorite Pokemon and my favorite shiny, so I’ve always had a soft spot for it and Vulpix.

@@pulluponkhaleeq A bounty is a speedrunning goal that has a monetary incentive for reaching it. The goal for this specific bounty was "use the weakest Pokémon (BST-wise) as an Alt Main that finishes under 4:30:00."
1st place was a Gastly run with 310 BST (4:23:25), though had Werster been able to complete this run before the deadline, this would've been first place at 299 BST. Instead, he was forced to settle with his Butterfree run at 385 BST (4:16:21) in second place.

I think alt runs like this are pretty unexplored, whether its a specific pokemon like this or banning important stuff like quilava or raikou

2:06:25 sunkern is such a bad pokemon. Pretty much everything outspeeds it & it has abyssmal stat gains. Sunflora is still pretty slow, but has great sp. attack.
Sunkern has one use in this game though which is that it’s GOATED at pokeathalon xD
