Picking Up Ol Blue

- After a month of missing my other right hand truck we got the call that it was ready for pickup. Hector at @rockabillychavez had got the paint done and got it over to @alcanoffroad2063 for leaf springs. Along with new leaf springs they worked with Stephen Watson at Offroad Design to get all new suspension brackets on. This eliminated all the weak links in the factory suspension on these old square body chevys. This was a very humbling experience for me. To have all these people and companies come together to help make this truck awesome was so cool and I want to thanks them all. We run all these same products on Trailmater so we know how good they are. The paint came out amazing and now we have a bunch more upgrades to get this truck back up working. As pretty as it is it is still a work truck and will definitely be back to help recover people in and around the Moab area. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Im going to remember this project for the rest of my life and I will forever be thankful to Rory for the recognition to our channel. Thank you Rory for taking a chance on me and our little garage. So many cameras and so many emotions going through me that day I couldn't hardly talk or find the right words to say.

Everyone involved in this build went above and beyond. The paint job, stenciling, hand painting...gave it an authentic 1970/80's look! Can't wait to see the custom suspension in action on the trails of Moab.

They are not actually a lift company but a spring manufacturer.One of the best springs you can biy and have custom built for your truck.
I was thinking, "It's not neon green", but also thinking, "On this truck, that deeper green is perfect". Ol' Blue is looking sharp.

Yeah, Any time I got a new work truck or paint I was always careful until it got that first scratch or dent. After that, it didn't matter anymore, just give her hell.
It’s weird seeing it with a lift 🤔 but it looks awesome. Really looking forward to see all the upgrades you have planned for it 😎 i know of crossover steering, hydro assist?, rocksliders, exhaust (headers?) anti wrap bar? Power upgrades? 😏 hope to see some more shop work 🤩

When I got my springs done at alcan They didn't grease any of the bushings and the squeaking was unbearable. I had to disassemble the whole suspension later and grease everything (it was all bone dry) also one of the shock bolts wasn't even finger tight. I'm sure they took care of Rory because of his notoriety but I wouldn't recommend them for the average guy.

Beautiful truck! The lift will obviously change the CG of it, but Rory, Sean and Mike will learn quickly its new suspension roll rate. Once again beautiful truck. I would love to have the resources to set up something like this.

Wish I could afford a set of Alcan springs for my square body. I had to go with the next best thing a set of SkyJacker springs that are at least still made in America for the front of my square body crew cab. I kept the stock 1-ton springs in the rear, but added ORD shackle flips in the rear since I do not do any heavy towing with my crew cab. I have a lot of Steve's stuff up front on my square body cross over steering, medium duty steering link, spring shackles, and a DIY4X front leaf spring hanger. Also got a set of Bilstien 1500 series shocks all the way around from Steve.
Big smile on my face through the entire video. Great job to all the hard workers that put in so many hours to make it happen.
But lets fix that exhaust leak...

Wow! The 2023 Hess truck looks bad ass this season with all that old-school pinstriping. I'm definitely adding that to my Christmas wish list right underneath asking for Mike to do a Fire Marshall Bill impression. All joking aside, the truck does look amazing, and if anyone can make a nice-looking truck last in Moab, it's Rory🇺🇲

Hello Rory , Mike and Shawn! That is a big change!
The Howlin' Wolf Garage's guys did a great job with all the Paint and Suspension Upgrades. Now to take some care of it when you do crazy recoveries. Yes, it is going to get some scrapes here and there and hopefully these guys can give it a touch up from time to time! Hopefully this job brings some new clientele to these two shops to encourage them to keep doing great jobs for their clients. Thanks for sharingthe reunion with Old Blue.

Get those reflectors installed on the rear fiberglass fenders and it will be complete . Looks great !!!

Rory is all about the task and proper completion of that task. Now he can do it with a BIG smile! We will all cringe when the first scratch shows up. The big "M" on the door should have been in your trademark lime green. My OCD says "Get those lenses on the rear fenders replaced" Sorry, just had to say that. Beautiful job though.

Love it well done all, good paint job also, but my OCD & ADD kicked in as you have some of the dually fender marker lights missing. just needs to be used and not abused straight away.

Your truck is gorgeous, but your friends are beautiful! You need to get that fantastic decal man to make you a set of your phone numbers for the front fenders. I think that would really balance it out and finish it off. Old school script!

Everything on this truck turned out so good. I was fooled a little by the lettering, thinking it was hand painted but instead some really good decal work. Howlin' Wolf, Alcan Spring, Off Road Designs and all the other folks involved all deserve a tip of the cap for how good this truck turned out.
Looks like it ended up on 4" of lift? It sits perfect, and I hope it functions as good as it looks.
