This was a feast of educational commentary performed in such a humble manner. I’d say Karen was more of a genius if she had studied piano I’m sure she could be at her brother’s level if not more but her mother wouldn’t let her shine where her brother shined because she’s the scapegoat child and he was the golden child. Not just she’s a perfect pitch singer she’s a great drummer too and played guitar as well. The record label initially just wanted her to be a soloist but their narcissist mother didn’t approve of it as she was just a minor at that time. She only approved if her son would be given a deal too.
She was the caused why she developed anorexia. That’s the only thing she had a control in her life and she got carried away. Agnes thought her son was more or was loved by the people like Karen but no. When Karen died Richard career also died.

Good reaction and voice breakdown. Herb Alpert heard Karen's voice on a demo in 1969 and signed her brother, Richard, and her to A&M records. Karen received 3 or 4 Grammys in the 70s and sold over 80 million records by 1982. She was 1975 rock drummer of the year according to Playboy. Perhaps THE best female vocalist-ever, because she commands you to listen as she sings in perfect pitch TO you, not at you, with emotion and enunciation. No auto-tune or gimmicks. No professional voice or drum instruction. She was known by the studios as 'one take'. She rarely, if ever, recorded more than one take of any song. She was also the ONLY female harmony/background voice in all her songs. She was truly born with an incredible singing talent. Documentaries point out the accolades to her voice, such as, Paul McCartney said she had the most angelic voice after hearing her sing 'Ticket To Ride'. John Lennon ran into her at an LA restaurant and told her "you have a fabulous voice, luv". Supposedly Frank Sinatra stated that Karen was the only singer he'd pay to hear. I recommend songs such as, Yesterday Once More, Solitaire, This Masquerade, Need To Be In Love, Hurting Each Other, Only Yesterday, Close To You, I Can Dream Cant I (beautiful rendition to the 'big band sound'), Crescent Noon, Ordinary Fool, Rainy Days And Mondays, A Song For You, etc. KC never knew true love. One of her few friends included Dionne Warwick. 5'3" KC really lost weight, due to anorexia, in earnest beginning in 1975. She died in Feb 1983 at age 32 due to heart complications from anorexia

The Carpenters, officially known as Carpenters,[a] were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (1950-1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials.

So many more songs from the Carpenters for you to explore. I sincerely hope you do. There is a reason why so many in the music industry agree that Karen had the best voice of all time. She was a once in a generation (maybe several generations) talent. And gone far too soon. Her voice is like a warm hug that embraces the soul. May I suggest listening to their song Sing? Such a fun, lyrically uplifting song, not to mention the glorious instrumental accompaniment.

Karen has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Period. It's deeper than most female singers, yet still feminine. Exquisite. You did a very good impression of her. Impressive. Are you aware that Karen also plays the drums? She referred to herself as a drummer who also sings. That's a very modest thing to say, but not very accurate. She'd have to play like Neil Peart or John Bonham to be even close to being as good a drummer as she is a singer.
