I just added a honey gourami to my tank. I have dwarf praecox rainbows, cory catfish and a stray orange platy who is a rescue fish.. The Orange Platy has some idea the honey gourami is his best friend now. It's pretty cute. He just follows her around at times, but never picks at her. I have a nice, peaceful community tank. It's really enjoyable! Thank you for this great video !
Great discussion. The Honey Gourami is hands down one of the most underrated fish in the hobby. Its a great fish, highly intelligent, and fun to watch! Especially, in the planted tank.
Based on species profiles I've seen on the internet, temperatures as warm as 78F (25.5 C) are higher than necessary unless you are breeding them. Looks like they can go as low as 71F (22C). That's good for me because I keep my aquarium that cool.
Nice discussion, I am researching honey gourami before getting one later today. I have been researching for a week or so, to see if they are a good fit in a neon tetra tank. Seems like everything would be just fine.
Thanks for the video! Is it okay to have these gouramis in a planted 47 gallon with a filter that cycles 5 times the amount of liters in the aquarium per hour? Thanks!
It would all depend on if there were enough still spots for them to be comfortable. If the flow is too high they will probably just hide all of the time, and that's no fun.
Are female honey gourami territorial? I am not sure if it’s even possible to source only female ones haha. Also, do you think they’d be safe with amano shrimp?
They can still be territorial with other gourami but are less likely to dominate a tank in the way the males can. Amano shrimp may be safe if they're big and fast enough.

I have 4 female honey gouramis and they are the most adorable little family. They live with 8 ember tetras and the tank is an oasis of friendliness.

One of my very favorite fish.

Most fish are so much more adaptable than we give them credit for. Do you see spawning behaviors at those temps?

As long as you've got good cover in there, it should be a great choice!

I've never seen someone not want to be on camera more than the guy on the right haha
