Same experience with them. They leave everything alone, but like to interact with eachother. Kept them with tiny chili rasbora, crystal and cherry shrimp, green neons, regular neons, ember tetra, celestial danios, Pygmy corys, sparkling gourami. They don’t care about anything else!
Great pick for beginners, I referred to your community 40g build and got myself some neon tetra, harlequinn rasboras (replaced them now with white cloud minnows), and yesterday 2 siamese algae eater. I was curious why my Honey Gourami doesn't have the same yellow radiance as yours in this video. my first guess would've been due to stress of being alone but now after reading up online i think mine is a female. Still skeptical since I dont see female being sold in the fish shop. I think covering the specie's breeding and its sex traits would make this video more awesome
Cheers mate :). Its a pain to find females in shops here in the UK, I would love 2-3 for my honey gourami only tank but I don't have the experience with them to be able to accurately point out male and females.
I want to get honey gouramis for my 20 gal but am not sure how many to get. I have a decent amount of plants and your experience with 2 males gives me confidence that it should be fine 👍
Yea I think it will be fine, I had one of these guys in with another male last year and they acted exactly the same too. Theres a few other people commented saying their honey gourami act the same as mine in their tanks too so I think they are just a peaceful little fish :)
i'm planning a 30g honey gourami community tank, has anyone had any experience keeping them with rams? i'd like to add a bolivian ram or two bc i hear they're less temperamental than german rams and will spend a lot of time along the bottom, so they may not cross paths too much. i love love love honeys and am so excited to start :) great video!
I always catch hundreds of dwarf gouramis whenever i go net fishing in Bangladesh, but I've never caught any honey gouramis at all. Never seen them at the wet markets aswell. Bangladesh is full of shallow fresh water pools, these fishs are abundant there
My friend is getting married in India next year and I'm actually thinking of going up to North East India and Bangladesh after the wedding to try see their native habitat :)
@@GlassBoxDiaries make sure you let the viewers know before you go, and if I'm in Bangladesh at the same time I'll take you some unbelievable spots where you could catch some fish
Do you know any of the names of their local habitat mate? I'm trying to do research into their water parameter ranges. I found some stuff for North East India saying that part of their habitat can get as low as 15C in Winter but looking for more sources before I try them in a room temperature tank that will dip to around 18C during the winter here.
I'm really not sure if i'm honest mate, the female blue will be a dwarf gourami and I've never kept them. People say the females are far less aggressive than the males but people say that about betta fish too and my female betta was crazy compared to my two males.
I tried with two true honey gourami in my two tanks and both completely bullied my beloved large mistery snails by constantly attacking the antennae. So much that I had to return them to the store.
Were they definatley honey gourami? I know Girl Talks Fish has a video up where she was missold a Gold Gourami as a Honey Gourami and didn't realize it until it got older as Golds can be aggressive.
My male hone gourami getting dark and not pleasing to watch, also some of them easy exposed getting dropsy/belly swollen bcs they are greedy eater also they poop alot just like mollies, lucky I quarantine honey gourami with barebottom tank so i decide to rehoming my last 2. Maybe honey gourami is not my fish type. I only keep pair blue polar, pair EBA, pair Red devil angelfish in my 100gallons and feel good I suggested this combination. I've tried discus too but meh they are too much spoilt
My favorite critter videos are honey gourami doing funny things with their "arms" & cleaner shrimp - all shrimp do this if you sit there & let them "clean" your hands, which is cute & fun if you love your shrimp.
@@GlassBoxDiaries fair enough, I’ve been to the north-east and I know how limited the stocking options are. Perhaps could you do a video on creating more biofilm for your shrimp using household items? I’ve seen some other TH-camrs try, but they seem to be using things I’m unable to get a hold of. Perhaps you could do a trip to Asda, Sainsbury’s or B&M and show us what products would work with the demonstration. Additionally, I’ll be really interested to see if you could go to a regular supermarket and create a viable fish/shrimp ecosystem just using things you can pull off the shelf.
Best fish profile video I’ve watched!
Cheers mate :)
They're like fish with hands
Yea they are funny little fish :)
Gouramis are cool fish that have fascinating behavior. Awesome video.
Cheers mate, yea I love gourami :)

Thanks for sharing your experiences mate, havent kept mine with some of those species so good to know they act the same :)
I like the them because how they escape through the plants as shown in the intro 😂❤ thats why i have them in lily pond
Yea they twist around and all sorts to get to food or hide >.

I love my three, very underrated, in my opinion. Great video 👍

Do you know if Honey Gouramis can get the Gourami Virus? I want one so bad but I've had Powder Blues die from the virus
I don't know to be honest mate, I've seen different theories about it but in all honesty, I don't think anyone in the hobby knows 100%.
I got female blue one for about year now and was thinking if adding male honey is a good idea? What’s your thoughts?

Would you be able to do a breeding video with Honey Gourami?
I dont have any females mate :( They are a pain to find in my area.
