I’ve been thinking about you two recently because I know neither of you wanted to leave Vietnam. I finally had a moment to watch this video and I think you both handled a tough, emotional, and long travel itinerary bravely. Especially Thanh. Vietnamese is closer to Thai than to Korean. Both Vietnamese and Thai are tonal languages and share some similarities. Korean is an agglutinative language, which means that words gets parts attached to create different meanings. Culturally, all three are quite different, I'd say.

Looked a really long journey for you both glad you got sorted and into your apartment. I'd never get the allowance right in my case I'd have great difficulty parting with stuff and leaving it behind my heart went out to Thanh it must be hard for him leaving it all behind. Thank you, Julie! ❤ Yes, I also think it isn't easy for Thanh. Also, unlike me, he didn't do anything similar yet (I left Germany before, and also left/switched social circles multiple times). So far, he seems happy and sees many of the good sides, and I hope that continues.

My wife felt the same way and i think sometimes still does eti🫂 its hard for real being apart from all you know and she felt like she was taking me from them. Not going to lie it's sometimes still hard for me but at the end of the day It was the best decision for us for me to be here in this new place with her🥰 so much beauty and adventures in this country for me, it's amazing and I wouldn't change it still😊 haha my language isn't great in german so I haven't made any new friends here really but hopefully one day I can actually hold more conversations easier in german to make friends 🫠🤣🤙🏽 and thanh will get used to that window opening eventually too👀🤣🤙🏽 it took me a bit to figure it out too🤣🤣
Sorry for the late reply! Yep, I think it's actually quite a tough step... and I sometimes feel quite bad that we had to do this. On the other hand, I see that Thanh is slowly discovering things... about this country, but also about himself, and I think that's something really great!
Don't worry about your German, Thanh is also just slowly progressing, but it's working. We still have to make some new friends soon, I think. Both of us....

Thank you so much, Richard! ❤ The flight was about 11 hours pure flying time, with lots of time before and after. Including the stay in Frankfurt, our entire journey took probably something like 50 hours (that is, until we reach our new apartment). We're now living in North Germany, close to Hamburg.

Bei uns ist es mittlerweile über 20 Jahre her. Ja es ist wirklich schade, dass Vietnam die Ehe bzw. Lebenspartnerschaft nicht anerkennt für eine Aufenthaltserlaubnis. Ich bin gerne in Vietnam. Wir versuchen die Winterzeit dort zu verbringen und Rest dann wieder in Deutschland. Bin aber auch zuversichtlich, dass sich zukünftig die Gesetze an die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung anpassen werden. Euch Beiden einen schönen Start in Deutschland.
Wow, 20 Jahre ist schon echt lang. Ja, es ist auf eine Art sehr schade. Wir entdecken allerdings auch ein paar Vorteile am Leben in DE. Hin und wieder müssen wir aber auch zurück nach Vietnam, allein schon wegen Thanhs Familie. Vielen lieben Dank! ❤️
