I have loved trains my whole life, part in that being because I grew up next to tracks for most of my childhood, used to watch them all the time. Back then I never thought there was such a group as railfans, but clearly there are lots of people who love to watch them, trains are an interesting form of transportation and many never see them day to day.
Myself Included! I also Love Trains. Your Videos Help me be a Better Modeler. This Same CSX Line runs by Me, into Tampa, Fl. to the Container Ships. Here, CSX is Crossing the Flint Subdivision(CN) From Toronto to Chicago and Now to New Orleans. I found that out online. I also enjoy learning how Trains and other Transportation supply the World with Goods. Toronto, On. is Growing. And, The Flint Sub. Is One of the Busiest Freight Corridors Used by Many Railroads. I never knew that until I researched it. I think they pay rent on Trackage Used.
@Jimmy146 I do recall seeing maps of Flint in each line had a branch that passed by the GM Plant IIRC, this junction is the crossing of the only two main lines left in Flint, just to the north about half a mile is North Kearsley where the old GTW (now CN) branch crossed the CSX Main. The interlocking is still there as well as the signals but the diamonds are gone, CSX uses this to access the CN Flint Sub for their local to Port Huron.
@JeffN727 I believe the street we were on was Court St. Although I am not exactly sure because I wnet with a friend who knows the area a little better than me. I do recall hearing on the scanner about a grain movement on SBS that was gonna be handed off immediatly to CSX and that would have been right after the CSX in this video going south. HESR had brought back some grain cars from Auburn in the morning which would have been interchanged to SBS in Saginaw.
@JeffN727 I got the view with a 5X optical zoom if that helps. Where we parked was in front of the School Building or something one another, but with it being Sunday and summer I don't think there would be any worries about anybody bothering us. Most people probably wouldn't care, my rule in train watching is be obvious to drivers or others nearby and try not to look suspicious.
It's not. The second main in CSX has been cut back and while the diamonds are still in place, most of the track has been taken up. CSX traffic is light (no more than 2-3 regularly scheduled trains); CN is busier but its 15 or so trains are spread so thinly throughout the day. It's rewarding to be present whenever a train does appear but don't expect a plethora of activity here.

Great! WOW! I bet in a day This Double Diamond is Quite busy, 24hrs a day!

CSX only runs trains on Selected days. CN has 15-20 trains a day and Amtrak has 2.
How many trains come across this diamond per day?
rough count would be 20-25 a day.
Okay.
Okay.
THIS.
