Timekeeper was always the first attraction me and my mom did when we'd get to Magic Kingdom. Between Williams performance, the music, and the optimistic message, it's a show that never gets old and is truly a treasure
I think what I miss about this the most is the feeling of an optimistic future mixed in with the entertainment, something that has been slowly vanishing in the World, along with Horizons.
The TimeKeeper was the best innovative rides ever built in the Magic Kingdom by far honestly. I loved this ride with all my heart and Robin Williams protrayed The TimeKeeper very well in this ride. RIP to a legend.
This and the Carousel of Progress were by far my favorite rides at the Magic Kingdom. Horizons was my favorite at EPCOT followed by the Jeremy Iron version of Spaceship Earth.
I love how there are certain alternate lines for Nineye (Rhea Perlman). I wonder if she re-recorded the lines or recorded them all at the same time and they just chose which ones to swap out at some point. I wish I could have seen this in person. I hated discovering this on Magical Mouse Radio all these years later when it's no longer in MK. RIP Robin Williams (USA Timekeeper) and Michel Piccoli (Jules Verne). Thank you for this video.
Thank you for this wonderful memory! I was only ten, but was absolutely fascinated with this as well as "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" which is sadly gone. I read they were having trouble keeping the submarine belts intact. Thank you so much again and it's a great tribute to Mr. Robin Williams and I wish it was still there if just for his memory. "DO IT. You've been waiting outside. You've been in line for awhile. JUST DO IT! Thank you."That was priceless!
I always made sure to do this every time we went, this was one of my favorite attractions and still is. I miss this ride and Robin Williams.. Someone should turn this concept into a movie too. would be great.
Beautiful tribute! Seeing the current year in front of the time keeper (12:45, ect.) gives the viewer an idea of how much work you put into the video, you must have gone through many many source videos.
The Timekeeper was another of my all-time favourite. I loved Cranium Command and Body Wars, All the Imagination Ride, the Universe of Energy, Spaceship Earth, Horizons, but I hated The Land-it was sooo boring, but if I go back, I would love to see SOARIN' that should be wonderful. I also loved Muppet 3-D at Disney's Hollywood Theme Park. I will always remember Robin Williams...R.I.P. my friend, my timekeeper.
Thank you Martin for the timekeeper tribute video I am going to miss this show I saw it a cobble of times this is a lot better than the show that replaced the timekeeper I also liked how Robin Williams did the voice of the timekeeper I will miss this show and I miss Robin Williams I hope that Robin is looking down and watching people who enjoyed this show and him in movies.
I always felt they gave up on the Circle-Vision idea too quickly. The innovative 3-D that they introduced at Epcot eventually found its way to the local multiplexes, but where can you see a Circle-Vision film these days other than a Disney theme park? With Timekeeper, they had the beginnings of a good idea, but didn't go far enough with it. Rather than a travelogue, imagine a 20-minute elaborate sci-fi/fantasy adventure...they got George Lucas and Coppola to helm "Captain EO",which upped the ante considerably from "Magic Journeys".Now imagine what some creative heavy-hitter could do with this format!
Now this attraction I didn't go on, but after watching this, I totally wish I have! The Timekeeper is a robotic romp throughout and 9-Eye is one spunky machine. Robin Williams was completely hilarious with his improvisations and wacky voices. Not to mention that it shows how much fun Jules Verne is having discovering the wonders of new technologies in the future. Add an amazing Circle-Vision 360 screen and you've got a Disney Park classic.
I wasn't even aware that Walt Disney World existed by the time this closed, but I wish I had. I would love to have seen it in person. I can see why they closed it, because by today's standards it would be incredibly outdated. But I love the concept and narration. I think with a little invigoration from technology in the movie industry today, I think a ride like this could be brought back. Or at least, another version of it.
Great video, it brings back memories! Do you happen to know where I could find the separate music tracks in good quality? I'm trying to make a tribute album to the ride, but there's very few tracks I could actually find
To be honest all of these old rides feel so much more genuine. Like they don't treat the rider like a 5 year old. It's nuanced but still understandable for kids. It transports you into a place long forgotten. All the current rides at Tomorrow Land feel so disjointed. Sad.
Imagine if came back with a new character like a descendant of timekeeper and nine eye is the same but it’s in a new theatre in Disneyland (Replace Launch Bay) called the Tomorrowland Science Film Expo
Do you know if the composer for this attraction had connections to Delta Dreamflight or "Take Flight!" ? I have noticed so many musical similarities between the two.
Not going to lie, The timekeeper scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid, it wasn't the monster in the closet but the Timekeeper. Researching it now I can see why, the mix between the robin Williams face and a robot is just weird.
did... did they use the same animatronic for the guy from the preshow of the stitch attraction? The one that says he oiled himself and explains the level two and three monsters? The torso looks similar.
Nope. Sargeant C4703BK2704-90210 was built from S.i.R., an animatronic which performed in the exact same location when that attraction was Alien Encounter. They do look like similar figures, though.
Um The Time Keeper got replaced my Monsters Inc not Buzz Lightyear. Buzz Lightyear replaced Take Flight that onmi mover dark ride. Wait are you talking about the Orlando VERSION or Tokyo VERSION?

A wonderful perception....still true (but still sad) today. I miss Horizons, too. :(

Robin Williams was perfect for this. God I wish I was able to experience this in person.

I swear for preserving every nuance of these attractions so effectively, you sir are a hero.

Revisiting the attraction made me feel like I've gone back in time through Doc Brown's time machine.
Disney needs to reboot The Timekeeper.

The first ever Disney ride I went on. You can say, this started my Disney parks addition.
I visited Disney Paris not too long ago and the façade from this is still there. Such a shame it got replaced.
Thank you for another great video!
R.I.P Robin williams
It's a shame Disney will never create attractions like this again.
Martin you are a god, thank you!
22:47 this is easily my favorite line in the whole show
Martin, please do Great Movie Ride next, please? BTW great vid once again!
I almost forgot about this ride! Disney should open a park, called retro and it would have all the retired rides.
once a ride is gone, its gone forever.
Sadly, this is true. With Captain EO being the exception which proves the rule.
dan, you miss this?
Dan Warren and Soarin over California and Hyperspace Mountain
That would be amazing.
I went on that attraction in 1995 when I was Florida for a family reunion at the age of 9 even have a picture
