I've been a Chiropractor for 23 years and I started fasting 30 years ago when I was in the Peace corps. Have been suggesting fasting for years but never had this level of understanding. Thanks Doctor Mindy! Super helpful for our patients. Many are really benefitting.

I have struggled with adrenal fatigue since I was a teenager, supplements helping, increasing salt helped, but nothing fixed the problem. I looked into intermittent fasting after my third child left me with weight that wasn’t going away. I almost didn’t do it because of everyone saying how those with adrenal fatigue, and those with low blood pressure should not. I decided to try, and if I noticed ill effects I would stop immediately. I am so pleased to say that I feel better than I have in my life. Honestly, I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so mentally clear, and energetic, and HAPPY!!! The weight loss hasn’t started yet, but it has only been a couple weeks doing my 16 hour a day fast, and honestly, even if I were to stay overweight, it would be worth feeling this way!

@@anneross1859 I didn’t lose weight with the intermittent fasting, but I did start to lose weight doing it once a month three day fast on water only. And then I had another baby and I have yet to get back on the bandwagon 🙃. I have quit sugar and alcohol five days a week. And that is as far as I have gone since the baby, but it has helped immensely.

Was born with symptoms of stage 3 adrenal fatigue, have never functioned, was mainly bedridden so no school, work, education or class have I been able to enter for a longer time. At 30 I was on disability for the extreme tiredness. At 35 they found I had graves. Now at 43 Im in a real bad place where nothing makes me better. Ony thing that ever helped and actually made me 100% symptom free, was supplements for adrenal fatigue; Ashwaghanda and Cortrex. I'm still on it but its not helping anymore though, think I'm completely stressed out. I was one of thos who didnt believe in natural medicine but wow..It really does work.

I just wanted to share how fasting and a low carb diet has improved my health . I started Atkins in January 2020. Then started eating a ketogenic diet in February. And, then I started fasting in April, I think. The first thing I noticed was the weight loss. Then my blood pressure started going down and I was able to stop taking medication. Next, my blood sugar started coming down. I was not on any medication for that, but I was headed in that direction. But, not anymore. And, just recently within the last week I’ve noticed that I sleep through the night without having to get up and go to the bathroom 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night. Who knew fasting could improve incontinence!?

It seems I have adrenal fatigue among others because since I'm fasting my Garmin watch shows me how my stress level and heart rate drop the longer I fast, to the point where I am far more relaxed awake than I ever was when I am asleep. It's difficult to put into words how this information is helping me.

On Keto with intermittent and longer term fasting (from Nov 1, 2018) I had ALL of those symptoms of adrenal fatigue. I started Carnivore on Aug 1, 2020 and a bunch of issues have stopped. But I still feel that I need more adrenal healing. I have been doing everything you mentioned. I’ve been checking my blood glucose regularly and I’ve been between 87-102...on Carnivore! And OMAD! I have had zero cravings and don’t cheat. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I figure there is probably a tiny tweak that I’m missing. All good information here, except that I’m already doing it all! Now what? (Be patient and consistent? I think nearly 2 years is patient and consistent.)

OMG! I had all the signs of adrenal fatigue. I kept fasting and kept keto-ing for almost 2 yrs. At first it seemed good. I finally just hit a wall. I barely got out of bed. My hair'd mostly fallen out, my arms n' legs were empty and shriveled...where had my muscles gone? Guess I never really keto-adapted. I'm 68, My skin was so dry and crepey. This: after a life time of studying nutrition and striving for good health. So, what hap'n? I noticed a thumbnail of Dr Berry...Why was he posting such an old pic? LOL I clicked on it and he was talking about carnivore. Weird. We'd all been eating 10 cups of veggies a day, right? But, damn, he looked good! I'd stopped following a while back cuz he looked like a heavy drinker...the sagging skin. Not MY health goal! Now, here he was, looking 20 yrs younger. I decided to give carnivore a 1-2 day trial. After only 1 day, I woke up in the morning feeling so awake and refreshed. Where was my brain fog? My resistance to moving a muscle? Hey...My BACK PAIN? My neck pain and daily headache? My mouth didn't even feel dry. I got out of bed in one fluid movement..wait...my injured knee...it feels fine! Now, I'm on day 12 of the avo-vore diet. I eat all I want, I don't fast...I just eat. Feels like vacation every meal...butter, eggs, meat, bacon, salmon, avocados, cream in my coffee! I was always fasting...never early morning cream. My friends say my face is looking smoother, I can even see a dif! In about 10 days, I'll add in some berries. I'll add back foods one at a time. See how well they serve me/ which ones give me inflammation. Never going back to chronic back pain! Those foods, I'll skip.

Didnt make it & Didnt take into account my main issue is my adrenals) I did do 36 hours the week before because on weight loss journey as well and even though I was exhausted I didn’t experience anxiety.
Dr Mindy, I did read your book
And thought I was doing it correctly but came to the realization my adrenals are the main issue because of all my symptoms.
Im following your adrenal fatigue protocol and will then slowly start incorporating more time. I want to feel normal and wish for sharp mental health till Im really really old🩷 wish me luck.

I had pfeifer and toxoplasmosis about 10 years ago, which eventually healed after 6 months (slowing down daily routine). If you have AF, it feels and is much worse. Slowing down is not enough. Does the hormetic affect also apply to a person with one adrenal? Anything I should be careful of? I am 2 months post op adrenalectomy due to a pheochromocytoma and I'm trying to get my health back. I am 43 and have not been able to lose any weight due to excessive amounts of cortisol and adrenaline (due to tumor) and have been trying to IF and keto but have been just tired and craving sugar since my surgery! Im also trying to heal nodules on my thyroid and am on information overload. I so want my health back!

    • @selenahayes7244
      @selenahayes7244 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

God love your heart. I feel so bad for you because I can only imagine how bad you feel. I have/had a burned out thyroid and adrenals and I know how exaustingly tired I was all the time, still struggle with the weight. I went from 110 pounds to 160 in 4 months. Havent been able to lose any weight but have at least managed to stabalize and not gain any more in the past year. I also feel your pain on the information overload....and as you keep going there are going to be times where you feel like you have to live so restricted but in the end every time I cave and eat wrong I regret it because I soon feel bad again all over again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND looking up a woman named Dr. Izabella Wentz. She is a pharmacist who helped heal herself of thyroid and adrenal problems and teaches others how to do the same. It has taken me a year of working out kinks but I finally feel a lot closer to my old self before everything went haywire. For me I had to pretty much give up gluten all together...I avoid it like black death now lol. If I eat a regular sandwhich on regular bread I am in the bed needing a nap an hour later, my energy crashes bad. I also do the intermittent fasting most days, but I was never really a breakfast eater anyway so I just increased my water intake around lunch to help me hold out til dinner and it wasnt that bad. I do take a lot of supplements however, some of which I have weaned off of over time and others I still continue and may for another year. Selenium helps the thyroid, N-ACETYL-CYSTEINE has been a game changer for me in getting rid of brain fog, all the B vitamins for energy (I take a B complex but I also take some of the B vitamins seperately as well, like extra B12, benfotiamine, and L-Methylfolate...although that last one is different for everyone and may make you feel like a million bucks with energy galore or could make you feel worse within a month, depending on a specific gene mutation you may or may not have). I also took Liver detox supplements, learned to cook in glass, cast iron, or stainless steel...no aluminum, no aluminum foil, no aluminum in deodorants, etc..... It can be a lot esp if you try to tackle all at once so start slow and be patient with yourself (which I know is extremely hard to do when you just feel like crap and want your health back like NOW). Toxic overload didnt happen overnight and healing wont be overnight but you can feel a crap ton better than you do now. You will have to be your own best friend and researcher because most of the stuff that will actually make a difference in how you will feel will not come from a pharmacy or doctor. I cannot stress how great Izabella Wentz is, even just subscribing to her free emails you will learn a lot over time. Best of luck, wishes, and my heart and prayers go out to you!!!!

Selena Hayes thank you! I’ll take a look at her! This has been a long health journey for me also. The tumor was a surprise but I am sure now it’s just going to take lots of time of internal healing, like you said. My husband reminded me that I lived with it causing havoc for almost 3 years so it is going to take just as long to level out. I have been pretty good at staying keto for the last 3 years But I just realized they put me on antibiotics before my surgery (and didn’t tell me!) and so I understand now why I was crazy sugar so badly! I do know that gluten is horrible for me and I am going to cut it out now for good. I actually do a lot of the same supps and we have cut toxins including aluminum over 13 years ago.

7: 06 Caffeine is a neurotoxin. Putting it in the front end of your digestive system is bad enough but putting it up the other end is just batcrap crazy.
Totally on board with fasting, I do OMAD daily, but coffee up the rear, no way is that healthy.

    • @robinbeers6689

@Anita Martini It makes a terrific garden pesticide. Lethal to slugs and snails.
      www.the-scientist.com/research-round-up/coffee-kills-53119
But seriously: this article shows that caffeine is a drug.
      www.alternatives-for-alcoholism.com/caffeine-addiction.html
I have epilepsy and I have researched this regarding seizures extensively :
      seizures.dolyan.com/caffeine-and-grand-mal-seizures/
Caffeine will make me have a seizure. It doesn't do that to everybody but that doesn't mean it is good for anybody. It just means that some brains have a higher "seizure threshold' than others.
Coffee enemas may be the chic thing to do according to Gweneth Paltrow but ask an ER doc, they will tell you to not be foolish.
      www.menshealth.com/health/a19546526/gwyneth-paltrow-coffee-enemas-dangerous/

    • @robinbeers6689
      @robinbeers6689 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Anita Martini In perfectly healthy people caffeine may not cause any damage. I drank coffee for years before I started having seizures. It is a neurotoxin. The fact that a small amount won't hurt you doesn't make it a good thing.
Coffee is also a diuretic and can lead to electrolyte imbalances, leading to muscle cramps, headaches, etc. It's also highly addictive. That's called a drug. If you don't mind being a junkie, be my guest.
Sure you can find a study (probably funded by Maxwell House) that says caffeine is beneficial. And I really don't care about healthy people having a morning cup of joe. But when you start putting it in at the other end, it is impossible to tell how much you are or aren't getting. Different people's guts are damaged to different degrees in different ways and so absorb chemicals such as caffeine differently. This is dangerous. You can get WAY more caffeine as an enema than you would get drinking the same amounted and people often use way more than a pot of coffee.
It's not meant to go in that way and it serves no purpose. People report feeling awesome. Of course they do. They are freaking high.
Coffee is big business and they have a whole "research" section to the marketing association.

I’m a newbie to this channel and know a bit about fasting to reset the body. I have had a lot of health issues I didn’t realize were from rheumatic fever, leg and body pain, strep throat, penicillin for 20 years, etc.
I did have a teaching career and raised two children, but insanely, got breast implants 17 years ago, and my body became wracked with pain and autoimmune illnesses and other infections, including mold toxicity. I had to retire from my teaching career and go on disability, then learned about breast implant illness. I was furious at the medical system for all the lies and cover ups. I had to have 3 major surgeries because of failing organs, and had to get well enough to have the implants removed by a specialist. That was 2 1/2 years ago, and now I’m on an antifungal diet, moved to a cleaner environment, and have clean water.
However, it seems I had a setback this past spring when I was exposed to molds and toxins volunteering at a community garden.
I’ve been sick for the most part for 4 months. I don’t sleep, have very little energy, and I’m at a loss.
I read anything I can in getting well with functional medicine, and my thyroid and hormones are imbalanced. They just put me on a pill for that, I see a pain doctor for my back which is disgusting and has a birth defect, and two specialty chiropractors.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will this help me? I do skip breakfast and usually only eat one meal a day, but I’m probably deficient in something.
    Thank you for any help!
You’re very good at explaining this, but I’m unsure of a lot of things.

Hi Kathryn, so sorry to read about your situation. Gently easing into intermittent fasting is not a bad idea. And perhaps also adding a ketogenic diet to it may help give it the extra boost to your health.
It looks to me that your endocrine system has been damaged. Have you seen an endocrinologist or a orthomoleculair therapist? Make sure whomever you're seeing works in a holistic manner, everything is connected (not just every organ, but also the mental, physical, emotional, energetic & spiritual body). Hope you'll feel whole soon!

Sand Tx I was seeing a naturopath until I found a doctor around me that specializes in molds and holistic therapies, but she’s hard to get into, and doesn’t take insurance. That’s really not the issue, but she gave me a pretty clean bill of health with a list of autoimmune issues in my body, having conquered the mold situation, and testing me for parasites. I had no hormones, and I’m not sure what is going on.
I DO know that everything is connected, and I think I felt better seeing the naturopath who did hair mineral samples and gave me a ton of supplements I had to take.
I am thinking of seeing a doctor here who is also a functional medicine practitioner. I saw him for a while, and had a TON of food allergies. But, after my disgusting-looking capsules and implants came out, a lot of my symptoms went away.
I’m still following Doug Kauffman’s antifungal diet, and taking supplements and vitamins (holistic), and doing the best I can, but I just feel like I kind of have the flu all the time again. It’s so disheartening. I have lost so much including a lot of money, friends, relationships, etc. I’m going to try to find an endocrinologist, but they are rare. I don’t know what the other doctor you mentioned is.
Maybe I should go to an integrative medicine doctor, or back to a naturopath.
Thank you for your response and good advice! 🙏💕💫

@@Tinyteacher1111 it seems to me you have been doing a lot of work, finding the right therapist, diet, etc and just doing the best you can. I know it takes a lot of energy to get to the place you want to be at. And unfortunately most doctors don't work in a holistic way and don't go and find the root cause, they just give you medication (suppressing the symptoms). Your body seems to be overloaded with toxins and need time to heal from it, pharmaceutical medication is not going to help (in the long run, just more toxins in the body). It may also help to rid all other toxins from food (including sugar, gmo food/drinks, alcohol, coffee, chemicals), pharma drugs, chemicals in beauty products, bpa in plastic, etc. I have been doing this as much as I can. It is crazy how we have been overloaded our system with toxins, most hidden in products we consume and use daily, and also chemtrails and if you live in a big city it is even worse.
I don't know what a anti-fungal diet looks like, but was wondering if you had your gut completely checked next to the parasites? Because if you have other gut issues (like sibo, leaky gut, etc) this can cause serious health problems as well and need to be addressed first before anything else can work, which also can take weeks or months, maybe even years (not sure).
I have been trying to heal from severe adrenal fatigue for more than 3 years and childhood trauma (which had come to the surface due the AF) which also caused a lot of physical ailments (psychosomatic) for more than 20 years without any luck or progress. It was very time consuming, costly, frustrating, stressful and disheartening not to get the right help from doctors, therapists, etc. or get any better. It wasn't until I started going to ayahuasca and psilocybin ceremonies that things shifted for me on more levels than just physically. I am starting to heal for the first time in my life, and I'm healing in a holistic way. I feel more aligned with my true self and wish the same for everyone. I knew that the body has it's own intelligence and is able to heal any ailment (I've experienced it myself), but it is our mind that is in the way of its healing abilities. It may not be for everybody though, but if you have the courage to explore and if you don't have any contra-indications it may be for you as well. P.s. an orthomoleculair therapist (an alternative profession in the Netherlands) is someone that is specialized in molecular structures but is not a endocrinologist, may be the same as a naturopath, not sure though. If you have never started to practise meditation I would highly recommend it next to journaling. It gives me so much insights and it connects me.

Sand Tx Thank you so much again for your thoughtfulness!
I have done EVERYTHING you mentioned. I healed my leaky gut, h-pylori, mold, had my tonsils removed which were infected for a long time, have been seeing a holistic dentist, had two abscessed teeth removed (which I didn’t even know were abscessed), have extremely clean products including makeup, which I very rarely wear. I take epsom salt baths, use ACV, cleaning products, colloidal silver, hydrogen peroxide, and I make a lot of my own products with with essential oils and organic and clean products and water.
I have gone to therapy, and done everything I can.
However, last night I put a blackout sheet on my window, because the neighbors across the street have lights on their garage that shine in my windows, and I slept until 4 from about 8! Yippee! I feel so much better!
I wish I could try some of the stuff you mentioned, but I don’t know where I could do that. I live in Michigan, and although good doctors are around, most of them don’t connect the dots.
They don’t ask about your diet, your past history, etc. EXCEPT for the one that’s hard to get into and is very expensive, but I may go back to her.
      Are you in another country?
I actually found some women around here who have had a toxin overload and are getting rid of it. I’m going to have a chat with them. It really helps to know I’m not a freak, and there are other people out there who are in the same situation!
Thank you, again! Much love and light to you! 💕💫🙏

@@Tinyteacher1111 hi Kathryn, not sure if there are any trustworthy ayahuasca or psilocybin facilitators in or near Michigan. I myself live in the Netherlands and have it done only here. But it is not an easy route, you have to feel the calling or the urge. And it is important to do your homework, find out as much as you can about it, if it is for you, if you are physically/mentally up to do this, etc. Because you have to be (chemically) clean, participate with the right pure intention otherwise it could harm you. You may find out things about yourself, about life you don't want to know or are not ready for, or when you let go you may find answers to questions you didn't even know you had, it can heal in so many ways. It did for me, but I'm not quite there yet. I know that there are psilocybin researches for depression. You may want to look into that. Because with all you have been through I wouldn't find it strange if you feel depressed now and then. I recently found out that I did and I was able to cry away a lot of repressed emotions.
But what I also want to mention is that, apart from the physical ailments you are focusing your healing journey on, are you also focusing on the mental, emotional (energetic and spiritual)? For instance past (repressed) traumas. Also, any ailments in the body means your energy flow (in the chakras) is blocked, which can cause a domino effect of ailments. Massages, dry needling, acupuncture, acupressure, yoga, qigong, warm baths, sauna, deep breathing etc are great examples to help with releasing tension and the energy flow. Trauma Release Excercises (TRE), Trauma Experiencing (a somatic trauma therapy by Peter Levine) and holotropic breathing can help release stored trauma in the physical body. And plant medicines (entheogenes) such as ayahuasca, psilocybin, kambo, san pedro etc can also heal the physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual body. Always remember that you are your best healer, and that healing starts from within, you just need to let go of the egoic mind. The body knows exactly what to do and what it needs, it has it's own intelligence. Try to listen to it and if that's too hard right now, try to feel which therapy is working (even its a little) and which therapist you feel comfortable and save with. If you feel any doubt or resistance, respect that feeling and try to figure out if it's the doctor/physician/therapist or treatment/therapy or if you are simply just not ready at that moment. I am starting (trying out) somatic trauma therapy for the first time next week. I have contacted a few therapists and made appointments with two. I have let them know about it. I want to be honest about it and I want to explore and experience what works best for me and who feels savest from the beginning in stead of staying somewhere just because I have started treatment. I hope this helps you in any way. Thank you for sharing your story and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Sending you much love and light and know that you are already whole. ❤

Toxin reset please . I am a type 2 diabetic, after an episode of almost 650 sugar high I landed in hospital and was put into long and short insulin, and was low in potassium. After 3 months my Ac1 went from 12 to 7 and now I use 10 long acting insulin am and 10 pm. But since that episode a year ago I been feeling very fatigued, my middle back hearts and I lost a lot of muscle. I am starting keto and intermittent fasting and I am intrested in your approach, hope to here from you soon.
