The song was originally released in 1988 on their self titled album. Then a new arrangement was released for Thrall: Demonsweatlive in 1993, with a remix in 1994.

@@nanaking9560 Bonus Easter egg: if you bought the CD for Thrall: Demonsweatlive, Mother '93 was actually track 93 on the cd. They tacked 86 ghost tracks after the "end" of the album which was also Mother.
He's got an incredible voice, definitely. Another song that shows his talent is *Let It Be Captured* from their 1994 album, it's slower but much more emotional.

I believe this song was inspired by Tipper Gore and the PMRC, and the attempts at music censorship that was going on at the time. Dee Snyder and Frank Zappa, among others testified before Congress back then. This song was allegedly Glen’s response to all that...
That was more in the mid 80's when the whole PMRC bs came about. I was in the 8th grade and a bunch of us teenagers protested during that. The way they kept attacking Rob of Judas Priest with the supposed reverse playing of the album to get subliminal messages and Ozzy's Suicide Solution song plus many many more. Dee Snider, Tom Petty and many more took it to court and finally won, but we ended up with those lovely parental advisory labels on our favorite albums that contain explicit content. Luckily for me my parents didn't care about that bs lol they protested in the 60's with the bs goin in then 🤘🏻

My blood pressure always raises when I listen to Danzig, like at the end of this song, I am ready to punch a hole through God and my heart is beating out of my chest. Only Danzig does this to me. I listen to metal from a broad spectrum and still nothing gets me going like Glenn.

my favorite singer of all time. Original frontman for the misfits 77 to 83 then had a band named samhain which are awesome. Check out misfits live 83 show..very good classic punk show

Danzig is the founder of today's Horrorpunk. So many brilliant bands that have sprung up in this genre over the years. You should listen to a few of them. For example The Crimson Ghosts - don't follow or nearly free, Bloodsucking Zombies from outer space - Vienna calling or Radio active, The Other - We're all dead or a party at Crystal lake, Nim Vind - 21 century or E. S. P., Blitzkid - She Dominates or Love like blood, Jamey Rottencorpse and the rising dead..... And so on. 🤘🎃🤘

I remember seeing him play down at st. Andrews in Detroit when this album came out on his first solo tour. I think it was fall of 88 maybe 1989. Then after the show and I got home this video was on TV such a weird coincidence

There are two different videos for the song...MTV didn't like this version because of the ending...so I think in the early 90s maybe, they reissued the song and made a "live" video version that was played a lot on MTV. Maybe that's why it didn't look familiar, but sounded familiar!?

I remember watching "Headbanger's Ball" back in the 80s with my mom. They were interviewing Glenn Danzig, and my mom was saying how clean and intelligent he seemed. Then, after the interview, they usually play the band's latest video. The next video was Danzig's "Twist Of Cain"...the video starts off with the band logo. My mom asked "What the HELL/ is THAT?", and I replied matter of factly "Oh, that's just a demon skull..."
Fun facts: Glenn Danzig is 65 years old, he'sfrom NJ, and he used to be the lead singer for the Misfits. He's really short, but he was all jacked up and covwred with muscles. I used to call him the "Oompa Loompa of Metal"

Danzig was EXTREMELY insecure about his height. He had stage rules for his band such as, you werent allowed to stand next to him so that people couldn't gauge his height with other members (and believe me, hes had some very big and tall musicians, Doyle for one, is at least 6'3" or maybe even 6'4" and his brother Jerry is like 6'1"). In some live footage with Doyle playing with Glenn you'll notice is Doyle gets to close he does this thing where he sort of bends over to make himself shorter. Glenn also obviously used steroids back in the day right after leaving the misfits. Look at him in 1983 and then in 1988 and hes definitely got the "roid jaw" going on. He's a weird dude and definitely a total a-hole. You should watch him getting knocked out backstage at a show. Dude thought he was hard and was all puffy chested and pushed a guy who then proceeded to come back and give him the "two hits": i HIT you, you HIT the floor.

Almost 40 years ago when i was around 10 years old i had no problem buying cigarettes, i didnt get them for myself though luckily (i never smoked), there really werent any rules back then regarding that here in Sweden, now the age limit is 18 for cigarettes which is good, dont know if there is any limit on matches/lighters though.

Glen was highly influenced by Elvis and he was the original singer of the horror punk band The Misfits which a lot of their songs were based on 50’s and 60’s horror movies

Great Classic (sad to say that word!)! I have sadly only seen Danzig live 2x, should have been 3... I was a bad boy and screwed myself out of a Metallica/ Danzig/ Suicidal Tenancies show at the old Pine Knob back in, I believe, 1996! Glenn is a big fan of Elvis BTW! Old interview out there of him talking about his influences, Elvis was absolutely brought up! Baby girls, I am so glad that you are looking into music that is before your time! Glenn Danzig is one of only a handful of artists who don't exactly fit into any one genre of music. His styles of music are as far ranging from punk rock in the late '70's and early '80's with such classics as "She" and "London Dungeon", to blues with "I'm the One", electronic/industrial with awesome songs like "Five Finger Crawl" and "Sacrifice", hard rock/metal hits including "Mother" and "Lefthand Black", even ballads such as "Sistinas" and "Girl", and some of my favorites like "Ashes", "Pull the Sun", and "Cold Eternal" etc... just to name a few. He has a fairly decent vocal range that he makes masterful use of in such a way as to draw you into the music to feel the emotion and power of his songs.
He has been a major musical influence to countless music stars and celebrities over the decades, and after experiencing Danzig in all his glory, it's easy to understand why. This is why he has been a major influence and inspiration to me for the majority of my life.
