As a former "Sheriff Search and Rescue First Responder", my friends were amazed at how many hours I spent each month training either in the field or in the classroom. As an older guy that can swim I’d never ever ever think I could swim in these conditions even with a life jacket. I’ve been in the California surf when I was younger and more foolish and that undertow will wreck you. I can’t imagine fighting the wind, outgoing tide and or incoming. People underestimate their strength and stamina and underestimate how much water weighs when waves start smacking you. Props to all involved and I’m glad you guys are the to film it for us landlubbers to be mindful when visiting ocean vistas.

It only takes seconds for a death on the water to occur. Wear your life jackets. I have no idea why so many people in Florida just don't wear them. We have so many CO2 options available these days that make the life jacket a small footprint. You don't even know it's on.

It really depends when I was a teen I remember something like this happening cause I was being A dumbass with a couple of friends and I ended up thinking “don’t panic breath and swim” when I need air I would just try jumping up and taking a breath and just trying to swim got pretty far before I got help. You just have to have your mind straight. The water won’t hurt you but toss you around. I would stay floating for a while too just to be relax while being tossed around it’s scary af but just know that you will be okay as long as there ain’t no shark around 😂

@@trenholmer1 The money that's spent on these rescues comes from a budget approved by The People. And the people staffing the rescue craft WANT to be out there. It's not like it's a burden for them. So I'm not sure what you're driving at.

That took along time to find a person even in that small area. They are lucky. This week in Japan 26 people (only found 11 so far) lost their lives when a tour boat sank.

But those who go out fishing like that have experience and training to be underway in such conditions. These people who go out with their PWCs and such are basically unskilled landlubbers.

Not only are the rescue skills perishable after not doing them for a while, there's a lot of "Improvise.Adapt.Overcome." to the job
