Seeing that young girl run the Boston Whaler is the best thing I will see today. That a skill and memories that will never be replaced. So awesome..and she did great!
Very nice. But, is she alowed? because, here in Angola, police is always looking for this kind of issues. If you dont have a permission you are in trouble.
Thank you so much for these videos. Me and my dad used to sit there and watch boats come through there for hours. When I was a kid. He's been gone 18 years and this makes me feel like he's right here. 🙏❤️
Man, i love these videos. With this one, i was able to share a 70 year old memory with my wife of my parents taking myself and my 3 sisters down to the Manasquan Inlet/beach and then my father taking me with him to fish off the jetty, perhaps those same rocks. In later years i'd park on the Point Pleasant side of the Inlet and watch the submarine races with a g/f. Ahh, such great memories.
Loved the young captain at 2:35.....her parents in front of boat showing a lot of trust. I like that. Granted, a rather calm day, but what a fantastic learning experience for her.
A parent, assuming both are fully competent and licensed, should have been right by her (as in next to her, thank you) just in case...... Just in case. Things can sometimes happen........ HP would not be pleased with this.
Here in Europe, it’s pretty common for children to be sea scouts. It’s a motorboat, not the hardest thing in the world. Also you’re all acting like this is her first time. The fact her parents are so relaxed is proof enough that she’s done this many times before.
Thanks! Reminded me of my early years, back in the 70’s & 80’s, making this run with my Dad so many times… Those following seas could get “sporty” if you didn’t know what you were doing. Miss you Dad!
Happy New Year to all: Terrific video guys with superb editing. IMHO the little girl 👧 piloting the BOSTON WHAILER, like a pro with her parents together ❤ in the bow is the best snap of the year. Excellent job guys, TMP from N.J.
Loved this video! Waiting for Part II. We spent three weekends in Point Pleasant Beach late last summer and stood by the Manasquan inlet many times and admired all the boats coming and going.
@@jcmarineservicesofswfl5606 I’m sure you do to fix all those boats beat up by those Florida boaters. I could make a living off the fenders flying off the boats coming out of Haulover.
That’s cause I grew up boating the manasquan and old Barney. I laugh at the morons in Florida. Especially when they brag they came out of haul over in 6 footers and it’s a. 2 foot chop 😂.
Yea it was looking sketchy and then he started to pull in front of the wave like he was correcting the error, then he cut the throttles and answered the question we were all wondering about his level of experience.
Yep he’s riding in down the front of the wave(bad idea) and then throttles down so it catches him. Suddenly the wave is moving water forward as fast as his rudder is moving, so it stops working. So he loses control and swings side on to it. It could have rolled his boat over if the wave was bigger.
Seeing those boats in big seas reminded me of a cartoon I saw years ago in the 'Yachting Magazine'. A couple on the 'high side' of the cockpit on a sailboat with the wind howling, waves breaking, and spray flying. The wife is hanging on for dear life, when the husband yells to her..."honey, if you don't look like you're enjoying it, they may never ask us out again!"
I used to fish there…I remember a few years back a scallop boat had run into the wall on the side that the Coast Guard Station is on. Spent lots of time there.
Used to run Manasquan and Shark River Inlet, very dangerous inlets if you notice these folks aren't afraid of hitting the throttle, if you don't you'll wind up on the rocks. Lots of exciting memories back then.
I have to say the seamanship of the captains up here in my neck of the woods is so far superior to those knuckleheads in Florida it’s disturbing. Love watching the Manasquan inlet!!
Funny I'm from Florida and I was thinking God what a p**** inlet, I wish all those people from New York and New Jersey didn't move down here thinking our inlets are as easy as there's were.🤕
At 2:40 in this video we see one wise, smart, experienced skipper entering the inlet safely and smoothly with no pounding and bouncing by simply getting his boat speed down to the same speed the waves are moving at and he very safely and very smoothly is riding a wave in as a surfer does.
3:48 that's hurricane weather right there!! They're lucky they made it back before the storm!! 😬 I was on a jet ski with a friend in this type of weather going home to moon river, Savannah, Burnside Island. The sky opened up and the rain felt like glass shards! We were stupid kids, and this was WAY before cell phones with weather and internet so we had a 45 minute trip in that... we got lucky. I'll never forget the color of that sky, though!!
I can remember as a kid sitting having dinner at the Lobster Shanty watching the drama as they searched for a diver who had been hit. Sadly he didn’t survive.
I have run this in a 40’ sailboat a couple of times. Once at night. It is one of the reasons I now own a cruising trawler capable of running from NY to Cape May in one shot. Haulover has nothing on Manasquan.
Agreed on the Haulover thing. They've got nothing on this inlet. (And we didn't have to listen to that broncos guru guy the whole time--a little goes a long way).
Totally agree. I grew up in Point Pleasant. For years my dad was lifeguard captain for Jenkinson's, right there at the Inlet. The big difference between here and Haulover is the obvious amount of caution shown by the captains, as well as a much more modest fleet. Manasquan Inlet is very, very unforgiving. My dad has told of numerous people that have drowned just falling off the jetty and not being able to climb back out before getting beaten up on the rock faces. Great quality video. Glad I found it, and can "go home" for just a little while.
Absolutely agree! Any inlet that is assigned a Motor Life Boat station makes Haulover look tame! There's a reason why you never see big SF yachts on those channels - they'd ruin their "rough inlet" claim! That big Bayliss would blow through Haulover without batting an eyelash.
That old classic Boston Whaler with blue deck (Montauk or Nausea - not sure which) has always been my favorite fiberglass boat. But I wouldn't be taking it through Barnegat inlet, let alone the Manasquan.
I work at a boat shop in Western Australia and we see heaps of those come thru for servicing. They drink like an Irish priest and smoke like Cheech n Chong but can't be killed
@@MoonFace411 I had a pair of carbureted Johnson 150s until recently mine never smoked that much because I kept the VRO system serviced but they certainly liked to drink and they sure did put some torque out, I still see others on the back of boats every time I go out
Learned to handle a boat out that inlet from the age of 7 by 9 me and my buddys ran it without our parents , came back to race it in the 90’s. Now living in Florida I laugh at the morons who can write a check but can’t run a 39’ contender out haul over with a 2’ foot chop. ( later seen on social media bragging how they hammered through 6’ seas ). Keep up the great content !
when riding a big wave in,,, Never let the wave catch up to you from behind. it can flip your boat.. and shout out to the little girl captaining that vessel in the beginning of this vid.. she does a better job then most of the adults

Indeed. Memories of my youth.
Nice boat videos! I'm watching in 2022...
Mystery boat at 6:17 is a great example on how not to navigate a following sea especially when coming into an inlet.
Either let the swell run underneath you and then follow it in or keep ahead of the swell until it dissipates in side the inlet
Yea it was looking sketchy and then he started to pull in front of the wave like he was correcting the error, then he cut the throttles and answered the question we were all wondering about his level of experience.
Yup. Ride the back of the swell, never the front.
Yep he’s riding in down the front of the wave(bad idea) and then throttles down so it catches him. Suddenly the wave is moving water forward as fast as his rudder is moving, so it stops working. So he loses control and swings side on to it. It could have rolled his boat over if the wave was bigger.
