Ti West somehow manages to come across as the chillest dude on the planet while simultaneously being one of the most inspiring directors working today. Really enjoyed this episode!
As a writer, this is very inspiring. To crank out a draft of a now critically acclaimed film in two weeks is spectacular. Writing is very hard, it takes a lot of effort and energy and to write the script in that time because he was just determined to manifest his vision is the stuff of legend. Thank you for having him on the show!
The Roost, House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, VHS, The Sacrament, X, Pearl and now Maxxxine Ti West was and still is one of the best horror film makers of all time! 😎👍
Loved the interview. James put into words my thoughts on Pearl/Howard being sympathetic characters so perfectly. Life is scary and you don’t want to miss out. That’s what TI West did so well and I appreciate it so much.
I've been big on Ti West since X and the attention to crafting these films with such character and like a pure vision of its time period and what he wants to get out of that time to tell a story. It was also cool rewatching the You're Next kill count and seeing him be in film for as long as he has and to see him finally get into the spotlight now. I want to follow his film career and see what he has next.
Great episode! I love that we've had more and more of Barbara staying for the whole interview. Of course, who's not going to want to stay out and talk to Ti West? 😂
I've been a champion for Ti since HOTD hit the festival circuit. To say I'm happy to see how far he's come would be an understatement. It's been like watching your team win the superbowl.
Ti is honestly so compelling and aspirational in the way he speaks that I can just feel the self doubt leaving my body, saying, "What are you going to do about it?", while shrugging. This was incredibly insightful and so far my favorite episode.
Great film! My intro to Ti was The House Of The Devil, but I loved The Innkeepers & The Sacrament too. I just got out of the cinema about an hour ago, just seeing Maxxxine. What a trilogy!
Excellent interview. I thoroughly enjoyed both X and Pearl. It is great hearing how he made Pearl during covid. I am patiently waiting to see Maxxxine.
Just got home from seeing it. If you are reading this, Mr. West, thank you so much for the effort you and everyone involved put into this trilogy. They were phenomenal and the story progression and conclusion, even when split up timeline wise, was phenomenal. I can't wait to see what your next projects are. That said, fuck you for those few frames 😂😂😂😂
Barbara at the beginning of an ep! Love it!! All of u are amazing, but its nice to see her hang out the whole time. Mr.West seems very laid back & easy to talk to. Yall looked like just a couple friends hanging out. Hes so talented. This was great!❤💞❤️
@@ScreamDreamsPod X was my favorite hands down, I actually watched Maxxxine in a movie theater in Russia dubbed in Russian, I was surprised it is legal. Today I am going to Longlegs ! It is translated as "Собиратель Душ" (literally - "The Soul Collector") here for some reason.
@@ScreamDreamsPodthank you! It was truly dark, so dark that I'm even unsure if I like this dark, I mean what's the entertainment value? It was underwhelming in terms of plot originality too. Solid flick in terms of quality, though.
Marilyn Chambers was probably closer to the era than Sasha Grey. Chambers branched out from hardcore and into horror movies in the late 70's-early 80's
I can't wait to see MaXXXine, I'm hoping to find time to see it in Theaters, I'm not sure why but both the closest Theaters to me haven't been playing many Horror movies this year, so far I've only been able to see Godzilla x Kong in Theaters which sucks I usually try to go to as many as I can The nearest one playing MaXXine is 40 minutes away so I'm hoping it won't be hard to find the time to go see it
I would love to see maxxxine in current day form, after all her success and she becomes “too old for Hollywood” would be unique to see what a24 Ti West and Mia Goth would do with that
This was a great listen, but I hate to report that MaXXXine was dogshit. You can tell that Ti West & Mia Goth are burned out from this trilogy (and being new parents probably didn’t help much either). Go see it, but don’t expect anything of quality.

Agreed
Agree. And in my opinion most great directors have that same quality.
Just came back from watching Maxxxine in the theater and it was so good! I’m only sad that the trilogy is now complete but what a ride it has been
Such good movies.
My mind is blown that I didn’t realize Ti was in You’re Next! Love this bit of trivia 👏🏻
hahaha! Right!? Fun.

Don't believe these 'written really quick' stories, they're all untrue unless a rough draft not a polished screenplay

@@ScreamDreamsPod Ti's always been brilliant at making magic from very little! That's what makes him untouchable in the horror genre! 😎☝️
I'm loving this rebrand and new format with Barbara taking the reigns. I love seeing all three of you together the whole show!

I've been a huge fan of his since House of the Devil.
He's come a long way! Cant wait for MaXXXine!!!
Same! You gotta checkout his early stuff too, he's had the same vision/style since the start.
Great episode!

AHHHH this has me so hyped for Maxxxine! Great interview!

Also, sadly, my theater does not have Maxxxine. I'm going to have to travel a few hours away but I'm gonna do it.
Thank you so much! And we totally agree!
Glad Ti has blown up but I wish some of his older projects got the same love. My favorite is THE INNKEEPERS
THE INNKEEPERS!!!

Today's the day!! Hope you love it! We did!
Great interview, I love how laid back Ti is. Can't wait to see Maxxxine!
Thank you and hope you love it as much as we did!
Hot take: aside from the melodrama masterpiece that is "Pearl", Ti's best film is slow-burning, bone-chilling "The Innkeepers".
THE INNKEEPERS!!

Loved watching this! Ti West is a freaking legend and this was very insightful. Thank you guys for all that you do, KEEP EM COMING ❤
Thank you!
Why he just Rob Zombie but 30 years younger. When spider one came up I was like wtf
I think he's actually like a decade younger or something like that.
I love love love this podcast literally the highlight of my week and so excited for maxxxine ❤🎉😊 I can’t wait you guys are the best
Yay! Thank you!
Love these interviews!! Ty seems like a great guy who isn’t fake and keeps it real. Keep it up guys!!
Thank you so much!! Glad you're enjoying it!
TI West is the absolute man
Correct.
Thank you, sir, for the three amazing movies! Keep up your great work! I am your fan from Voronezh, Russia.
Thank YOU for watching his movies and supporting cinema!!! Which movie was your favorite?

Saw MaXXXine tonight! HOLY SHIT what a movie! Great job to all involved!
Right!?
just got home from an early screening of maxxxine! happy to say he stuck the landing
Yes. Agreed.
Omg it's James from Dead Meat
Yes it is.
This is awesome another good podcast thanks anthony out
Love “The house of the Devil” so simple yet so affective.
Its perfect!
No spoiler i saw maxxxine and i hope people get it and appreciate what Ti has done. He really did so much for her as a character
Agreed!
Seeing where James is now from 2017 is crazy
Our boy's all grow'd up!
Much better thumbnail! 👍
Thank you!
I literally just got done watching MaXXXine and I’m treated to this! Ti West is a great director!
Excellent!
LET'S GOOOO 🖤🖤🖤🖤
YASSS!
His Innkeepers film is also a very good movie. Slow burn with good performances.
This!
I CANT WAIT TO SEE MAXXXINE!!
Imagine being so morally bankrupt, that you identify and empathize with a narcissistic, psychopathic murderer (Pearl).
Imagine...
here for James and Ti
They ROCK

Are these coming up on spotify soon?
Last episode up was the Christine Elise episode.
Yes - as we have been updating our show, the focus has been on TH-cam but the audio is coming ASAP!

I just watched the sacrament

Who? Crew guy? Pretty sure everyone wanted to be there and had fun.

Daryl?

Ti west should have let this movie cook a little longer. What a horrible 1 hour and 46 minutes
Oh, no! SOOOO disagree with you on this one... But appreciate you being here and sharing your thoughts. What don't you like and why?
