Don't forget .I hope you researched every pattern you copied and used as not to do cultural appropriation.
How did you post this comment 6 days ago if it came out 9 hours ago?!
Absolutely blown away by the result Pete, thanks for choosing my chapter this month! Can't wait to see it in person. So impressed how you got all the details in even down to the tattoos!
Edit: I only realised after I watched this the first time that their amber eyes totally match the amber wind of magic in warhammer fantasy, a happy accident!
That’s a cool chapter idea man. Congrats seeing it built and painted! 🎉🎉
Dude this is a sick idea!
I love your idea of space wolves successor chapters not keeping the wolf theme but taking inspiration from large predators from their homeworld. Leads to a chapter with similar mentality but different thematics. Also hope that the wood elf stag steeds are large enough to make your version of tunderwolf cavalry. Very cool.
@@stefschouwenaars9562 I’ve been looking at them and I think they might just be a bit too spindly in the legs, thinking I might try converting the Ogor mournfangs and making them a bit taller+sculpting a new head. I think Primaris marines would need the Stag equivalent of a draught horse to carry them!
They look great man. I did the same with my own chapter but went chimeric with Wolves and Salamanders. The green just pops along with that brass. The druid look is a nice touch
I was puzzled by these marines being described as "Khorneish" 'til I realised it was "Cornish".
I love how the bears' chins line up with the vents on top of the backpack; almost like they were made to go there. That's quality bits-spotting.
so satisfying
Babe wake up Pete the wargamer just posted
Edit; this is inspiring me to practice kitbashing and make my custom chapter really POP
i love his videos. His voice his skill such good videos
This isn’t Eric’s hobby workshop
I love these so much Pete, As a Welshman, I always wanted to make a very Celtic Chapter but never good at Kitbashing.
This has honestly made me want to try kitbashing to make this.
Sweet more fan made chapters being made in miniture form
That votann bear back piece really fits the nature vibe of this chapter. Love it
This is beautiful.
I love nature themes.
The Dwarfen shield as a buckler is a very nice choice.
I wonder if this could be done with an Autumnal theme?
An autumn theme would look beautiful.
You could probably switch out the greens for warm colors tbh
NGL: using Dark Angels to make Space Wolves is beautifully ironic.
This is my favorite kitbash you’ve done so far. Absolutely stunning!
This could be be a cool way to reference the old rivalry and love between the Wolf and the Lion... Maybe the Warden's hang out in Lion's teleport dimension as protectors keeping the demons of chaos out of it while they maintain the forests and druidic skills without drawing the eyes of chaos. ;)
The more medival a space marine is the better, so this is incredible
Im always done for some kitbashing. Just wish you went with more xeno ones
Amazing kitbash, and beautiful paintjob! I'm a massive fan of Celtic stuff like this, so this is right up my alley! I also cant believe I'd never seen or thought of a light green space marine, it looks so good!
I wanted to make a light green space marine army for a while for a group of snake themed salamander succesors.
The initial green gradient is absolutely stunning.
Honestly I think I would look really cool as a slightly darker tone on a nurgle space marine
"they're a space wolf successor"
whips out dark angels
It would be sick to make a Chapter Master of this Homebrew inspired by Cú Chulainn or Flann Sinna or Something else like that
Lugh or the morrigan too.
I wonder if the Red Branch would be Loyalist or Heretic? Cúchulainn's riastrad (Warp Spasm) sounds pretty Chaotic to me.
Really cool design. I’ve just started up 40k after a 20 year hiatus. Bringing back my custom chapter me and my old man made two decades ago. The Imperial Tigers. And yes. Every single model is tiger striped and yes, it is a pain in the ass to do.
Awesome concept! Green is such an underused amour colour for marines! I do think more texture and detail would add more to the piece, maybe some transfers and battle damage? Or even a tartan pattern on the cloth!
I just LOVE this green armor! Normally I’m not a big fan of those bright colors but on this model it looks so fabulous!
I appreciate how you talk through your painting process, it definitely helps me understand technique and terminology.
I like to think that one of the lost primarch had this theme and that's why you see some ultramarine successors with hints of celtic/druidic touches to them
Absolutely hands down the best kitbash and theme execution I've seen on any war model. Great job Mr. Wargamer!
well now you HAVE to give him a squad to lead.
Please more of this chapter!
This is so cool. I'd 100% start playing this faction
This is honestly ironic this appeared in my feed as I'm currently on vacation in Scotland
As both a Space Marine collector (Dark Angels) and someone with Celt ancestry, I loved this.
Hey Pete,
I know you're probably a very busy guy, buuuuuuuuut imma need you to make this an entire army, to film it, and to present us all with it because this is genuinely one of the coolest kitbashes and color schemes I have seen in a LONG time! 💚
Sincerely,
TattooedTabletop
Amazing stuff! Every time I think Pete has made the ultimate conversion another one comes out
Fantastic video Pete! I love the colours so much, and the design is spot on, it all looks entirely natural together and like a real chapter! :)
The jump from Goblinoid Green to the Talisman Green was much more vibrant than I normally do, It came out so well that I'd like to try larger jumps as well ^^
I always thoroughly enjoy your kitbash videos
Great conversion and an excellent paintjob, especially on that green! Loving the use of a buckler rather than a huge shield
So wicked looking. The green rocks and works super well. Love the models, love the conversions and the painting.
As a welshman, I have never clicked on a video so fast before!!
That celtic music quietly playing is such a vibe. Amazing model and video.
this is a great idea for a full scale army
Holy...this is amazing!
The details, the lore and the tasteful use of real life culture blends soo well together
The custom SM chapter kitbashing is always awesome af
Man, that paint job is just super crisp! Nice work sir.
Xmas themed druidic viking space kinght... Man i love spave wolves successor chapters
What an awesome kitbash for a custom chapter! I love the Dwarven/Votann bits that you went with, it all fit perfectly.
I just picked up the old Dark Angels Veteran kit and have been wanting to do a celtic theme, this is perfect!
Looks awesome Pete. Colors pop. The robes are a nice touch. The pack decoration are sweet.
You know what would be cool? Dornian Heresy Blood Angels in the 41st millennium to go with your Sanguinius. Sanguinius could be a proxy for Mortarion.
Kitbashing a Space Wolves Successor with Dark Angels? Oh the irony
Red and green is an underrated colour combo.
would love to maybe see a homunculi Giger-inspired chaos marine chapter ngl. don't know how it'd fit into lore - maybe Slaneshy Nurgle?
At the most basic level, this is a game that is supposed to be fun. A custom army like this is a fantastic idea. This army looks great. Well done. Also. I think I have to start painting parts seperately. This seems to make painting easier. I am using this technique in the future for sure. I have regretted putting a model completey together before painting.
I have loved all of your kitbashing. Seriously it encouraged me to delve into kitbashing my kill teams it’s not as easy as you make it look 😂
Celts were known for their colorful clothes and jewels, the end result is wonderful!
The last two home brew chapters you created lately are absolutely phenomenal!!
For me it makes these Primaris guys less dull!!
From Ireland here and I find this excellent and very pleasing🇮🇪🇮🇪
This is a mind blowing kitbash!!!
There's no way you just casually threw in ironbreaker parts... such a rare mini... very cool addition
I love how the shield is kinda small, like a targe.
Warhammer 40k is so expensive in where i come from but this doesn't stop me from enjoying it. I grabbed my pen, pencil & eraser & started to draw my favorite faction, which is adepta sororitas battle sisters. I had completed 4 of 5 women squad but i at loss for what 5th member should be.
I have a sharpshooter, rear guard security, a canoness/squad leader & a heavy bolter squad support gunner for laying down suppression fire.
Cornwall you say 'lets remove the sword on the chest'.... And replace it with a pasty
Incredible kitbash and paint work as always! I'd like to particularly draw attention to your skill as a videographer and editor, though. The little overlay with the paint name, range, and colour bar is really great, as is your shot selection and excellent commentary step by step.
The use of dwarf/votann parts here in combination with the very woodsy aesthetic and colours is great, gives the whole mini a vibe of something GW could have made in a very mild AU, making it seem like a homebrew chapter that belongs alongside the official ones.
A think I need to see you making a whole kill team of these guys.
Just imagine the different germanic inspired look of different classes.
I'd really love to see you kit bash a lore accurate tyberos the red wake. That character really needs your level of kit bashing
Thanks for the panic this morning Pete :) Your pixilated thumbnail for this video, made me think my old eyes had suddenly gotten much worse overnight, and I was sitting down to the workbench to paint.
Awesome concept and brilliant execution
Pete, this might be your best paint job to date. Absolutely stunning result!
Absolutely spectacular results. WOW!
I'd love to see a native inspired marine with a bow
That'd be cool
Emperors spears are the cannon version of the celts /Warhammer Albion in 40k, unfortunately they don't look very celtic. I feel like this is how they should've looked, but since they are really big about their home world of Nemeton I guess it works. This is a cool kitbash. I've been wanting to make celt /War hammer Albion inspired space Marines for a while now.
*Warhammer*
This was exactly my thinking when I was brainstorming these guys, like how are GW gonna do a Celtic chapter but give them a trident as an emblem and put them on an ocean planet?! Seems like a missed opportunity to do an Atlantean themed chapter tbh
It's a bit of a stretch, but I like to think the reason they're so Atlantian like is due to Conan the Barbarian. See, Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian, originally created Kull Exile of Atlantis. The Atlantians would go on to become the ancestors of the Cimmerians which is what Conan is. Robert E. Howard then intended, in lore, for the Cimmerians to then become the ancestors of the Celts that inhabit the British isles. The Bretons and the Gaels (granted, the Gaels were the Celts in Ireland but still). In the prologue of the book Kull Exile of Atlantis, it talks about this intention for a brief moment.
I'm a total normie when it comes to Warhammer 40K, but after watching hours and hours of Luetin09's lore videos, I have really developed a love for this universe.
I'm not a particular space marine fan but I always enjoy you making them into something much more interesting than the stock models.
My lore brain does thoroughly enjoy you making a Spacewolf successor based on a Dark Angels model.
These look awesome! Do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into customizing or kitbashing minis?
Such a clean paint job !!
Also good color for Salamanders.
From I know of the Celts, they loved to fight naked and covered in chalk to bring fear to their enemies.
Not sure if that would translate to Space Marines.
It was called woad
The Gauls didn't really fight naked from what we know of primary source. There is one primary source that ever talks of nakedness. It's Julius Caesar, during his conquest of the lands of the Aquitani tribe, that remarks that their chief was bare-chested... because the Romans executed a surprise attack on the man's camp and he didn't have time to get his clothes.
The two other sources most cited are Diodorus and Polybius. They give second-hand accounts well after (we're talking centuries) a specific battle where supposedly one tribe (of the three present), whose fighting force was comprised of unlanded noblemen, fought in the nude due to terrain conditions (apparently it was utilitarian, the ground was covered in thorny bushes, which would have been a hindrance with clothes catching into it).
Romans (and Greeks) saw competitive nudity and semi-nudity as ok, because it exalts the body, but they consider martial nudity as a sign of barbarity, the reckless abandon of the body, rather than it's exaltation. Depicting the Gauls as fearless nude dudes is a way to describe them as "noble savages". Defeating a furious and strong foe hypes up their own army, but they still underline the enemy's inferiority by denying them the notion of civilization. Looking at art of the time (statues, frescoes, etc), the Gauls didn't depict their warriors in the nude, but in actual armor. Even early chainmail, which is a Gaulish invention later adopted by the Romans. You'd think a culture that depicts their men in magnificent war attire and made strides in the perfecting of armor technology (even their helmets were praised by Roman generals of the time) is not exactly prone to actually fight nude.
At the end of the day, we don't know 100%. It is possible SOME Gauls fought naked, from specific tribes, in a form of ritualistic display. But it's very unlikely, and if it existed, fell out of style before Caesar's time at the very least.
Regarding chalk, it depends on the tribes. While it's probable some made designs that looked good to them (we've liked our warriors to have style since time immemorial), chalk on battlefields is a very common occurrence almost everywhere. Fighting is physical. It makes you sweat. Chalk on your hands stops your hands from slipping on your weapon. A brow covered in chalk will absorb some sweat instead of letting it run into your eyes.
I do wish he included some woad details on the helmetless head because this felt very 'Dark Angels successor' instead of Space Wolves, especially given the base set.
@@WeHaveBurgersAtHome it would be insanely hard, I thibk, but a woad like transfer as a tattoo on the side of the shaved head would have been awesome. That said, I did like the blue streaks.
I just kinda kept thinking "not enough Druid." But that's my personal taste. I always want all my minis to look like Named Characters, which would be exhausting for army painting.
@@SeanBoyce-gp I actually am glad he didn't super druid them up because druid space marines is a weird direction imo. I do wish there was more played up zany celtic stuff considering the chapter they are successors of is zany space vikings.
Awesome work!
funnily enough this made me want to start a Sylvaneth army
I'm not going to, but an interesting observation.
Nice to see some brown worked in , a Color you don’t see much on Marines superb
Really wanna see more on the raptor army you're making.
Glorious work, well done Pete.
Such an Awesome kit!😊
An absolutely gorgeous job.
Stolen Votann crests spotted, that's a grudgin'
Seriously that looks sick
There's been some good ideas there, can't wait to see more of those. And amber eyes is a nice touch, fitting for russ' lineage(or yellow, as he's sometimes shown to gave).
Does anyone know if all the primarchs have a fixed/confirmed hair/eye color(some are missing that bit of info to my knowledge)?
Friggin' epic, dude. You're super talented
Always need more DABs.
First of all, this looks simply amazing!
I'm just a little confused by the colour. I thought druids wore white?
I could kick myself for not thinking of a druid inspired chapter myself! By now, I came up with ideas for probably at least a dozen different chapters!
I have one based on the more mythological Knight/Hero archetype, stronly influenced by Arthurian Legend; one maritime based chapter, specialized on deployments on ocean worlds, Operations on ships or under water, inspired by turtles; the Heralds of the Emperor chapter, which specializes in supporting other imperial forces, bolstering morale and usage of sonic weaponry (rumoured to be an Emperors Children successor, so basically something akin to loyalist noise marines), inspired by Metal Bands, especially Sabaton; a less codex compliant Iron Hands successor (with possibly a large quantity of psykers), inspired by Bionicle; just to name the ones I can remember at the moment.
But a Celtic/Druid based chapter never even crossed my mind...
I was about to go to bed at midnight but then I saw this
Beautiful piece of art ☺☺
That green pops. Great stuff.
Outstanding work as usual, Pete!!!
Could be cool if you did a battle sister kit bash
This is beautiful I want a full army
Ouh! Marvelous painting!
Wish I could get my chapter featured, because painting them is absolute suffering, and I’d love to see what techniques would make it easier
Now make a Scottish Astartes chapter, complete with bagpipes and kilts.
Do a slavic inspired one! Add elements of slavic paganism maybe winged hussars or cossacks
i would love to see an aztec one
Welp, there goes my idea of submitting a green colored space marine chapter that is celtic inspired 😂 its never as good the second time around
Hope to make my custom chapter pop as much as this one one day
Emperor spears already did the Celtic theme. Cool mini tho
Emperor’s spears are Q celtic, these are more P.Celtic ;)
Nice work
hmm this is great, and brings me to the idea, have you ever considered a Lord of the Rings inspired kitbash? like i mean this could easily be turned to a space marine Rohirrim for example, could be a great thing to see more ;)
I spent most of 2023 making my own Celtic inspired chapter called the Emerald Knights. But mine are an offshoot of the Black Templars whose dark secret was having to use Iron Warriors geneseed to avoid becoming extinct. I love the druidic direction you've gone with for your chapter. It's the road I didn't take but briefly considered. Excellent work.
