Baz, don't let the internet TROLLS get to ya!! They are all seeing and NON knowing! Tony did a great thing by bringing this to you. Not sure, is a great clue that he wants to learn! And you teaching them is how everyone learns!
Great video as always Baz. Now from my own experience as a excavator Operator of 23 years, regarding the Dig dig lifting device. Unless the machine it's mounted to is fitted with of hose rupture/check valve on the bucket ram/cylinder then its not fit for purpose. Most machine manufacturers do not fit these safety valves to the bucket ram/cylinders, they only fit them to the boom and dipper hence why all crane/lifting operations with an excavator should only be done with the bucket ram fully extended so that if the hose bursts the loads can not suddenly drop. All excavator manuals will tell you that lifting with the bucket ram retracted is a big no no.
The first thing I noticed about the Sure Lift is that its pink!🙂 (I know why it does stand out) Tony did the right thing, you have nothing to be worried about Tony! Keep them coming - Drive safe
Anyone pointing a finger at a guy for not being shown something has never worked in maintenance. I found myself guilty of laying the fault on one of my guys, only to find out that I didn't train him on the task. I apologized to him and the guys in the shop. I had one of the senior rated guys re-train/ train the both of us together, and then had him walk me through the task until he felt comfortable. Lesson learned on my part. Baz is a top man for not blaming, and identifying a failure in the training process.
A central location for a rack of some sort with a bin for the chains would keep the lifting devices out of the muck and keep track of them. Outstanding device!!!
This fantastic video shows proper men doing proper jobs and hard work; well-done guys; I miss working on Lorries feel good, and my muscles ached when 20 years old; now just glad to potter about in the workshop.
That Sure Lift, such a good, simple idea. A great bit of kit. Some of the stunts and bad practices I've seen with lifting gear is frightening. Dragging chains through the dirt and across concrete destroys them very quickly. Soft strops chafing on rough, burred steel hitches etc can be destroyed in a second . Hopefully , any serious consequences can be avoided by the mandatory inspection of the piece of kit prior to use. LOLA is watching over us and for a very good reason.
I like the sure lift kit. I would recommend a clevis/ shackles with a welded nut or pinned nut . It would ensure that some numb nuts wouldn't take it off and used it on the JCB extended boom fork lift, leaving it in the muck.. Especially if you are going to send them out with hire equipment.
Baz, I know jack all about heavy hire etc. That Sure Lift looks a good bit of kit, I'm sure in a yard your size or a yard of any size really, you could have a designated storage area exclusively for those Sure Lifts and their relevant sizes so the operators know where to find one at a moments notice and where to replace it. You could also stamp a serial no into the side plates so you can record its use and when it needs testing. I can see there is a plate riveted on the side but would that survive heavy use? Like the nice bright colour which will be easy to spot. Give my regards to the Director for putting together some great video. Seems we all forget his input.🙃
Nice repair on the Crusher .Tony did the right thing. Really good repair on the dog bone 160.You absolutely right a good fab shop can save you a fortune. But sadly most don't want to invest in a decent workshop or welding equipment.
Baz top man old school man love every second of channels no messing around jobs done right allowing the man behind the scenes to continue keep the videos rolling mate 6:06:14
Another great vid chaps love this insite into all the different plant and fabrication work ❤that hitch for diggers great idea maybe make a small metal box for it to be kept in so chains don't get shit up when not in use
Hi Baz , team and the director ... Big hello and shout out to Tony 👋👋👋 Unfortunately with the positives and genuine people comes the hyper critical armchair geniuses 😂 Another classic mate repair mate ... That van is so well kitted out to be able to tackle most things. Really impressive 👏👏 The repair to the crusher door looks superb....you'd never know it was so badly damaged. Keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 be safe , be happy , G
I get what you’re saying about the sure lift, but you still have the same problem with the chains binding if you crowd the bucket ram closed all the way, you also run the risk of it ‘falling’ if the bucket ram doesn’t have check valves fitted, whereas on the hitch, if used correctly (bucket ram open all the way) that can’t happen
As a machine operator, the sure lift looks spot on, beats rooting around trying to find the chains and the visibility is great as oposed to the quick hitch eye.
Hey Baz i usually make my sockets a lot longer by cutting the "1/2" female drive off the back of the socket and weld a pipe that will fit over the threaded rod back onto the socket where i have cut the female off. Then just weld the female "1/2" drive on the back of the pipe giving you an extended socket. Saves the struggle with a ratshit spanner any day!
Baz top man old school man love every second of channels no messing around jobs done right allowing the man behind the scenes to continue keep the videos rolling mate
Gaz as the scots would say "many a mickle makes a muckle" every saving mounts up and will help when something can't be saved. But with you Gaz l don't know what can't be shaved!
Another enjoyable video Baz , what an invaluable tool that lifting hitch is should make the job run smoother. Another great fix on that crusher, yet again it highlights the abuse they take out on hire. But your idea of having them inspected before they leave site should make getting money for repairs easier. 👍👍
Another good one. The sling hitch u have shown there. Over with us in NI a lot of boys weld on 2meters of I section and it gives a lot more reach for using a digger to place roof trusses etc. one nice feather on it would be to have integrated storage on the hit hitch for the chains. U head cold flue has cleared up unlike mine
Excellent content Baz, the fabrication skills you and your guys have is impressive, even more remarkable the dedication to work from 6:00 each day and stay till jobs are completed. Really good job on the push link by Cal, getting the measurements and alignment spot on could not have been as easy as it appeared. Just disappointed to see the waste of money on electric trucks, we all know they are a government sponsored (tax fix) fad that will never work in the long run. Hope you have the freedom to give some honest reviews down the line when they get scrapped or catch fire. Can you give us a detailed run down of them, what's the claimed mileage, is there a heater in the cab for cold winter mornings? Directors work 👍
Great video and content. Good to see your being pro active and have a plan for checking the hired crushers. This will pay off big time for the group. 👍
Oi kidda ya got me hooked to these blogs got me even turning on me notifications 😂 I don't weld I don't fabricate I'm a mechanic but I sure enjoy watching the real day to day life of a fabricator and he's team showing warts n all keep the content coming kidda. Finally I’ve found a no bullshit channel and I discovered your channel by mistake and I’m glad I did great videos the knowledge is fantastic it’s helping me another heavy machinery mechanic and fabber with a few tricks I didn’t know and I come from a long line of mechanic fabbers and the directors on point with the filming the lads are a great bunch to have working for you hard working and no messing about looking forward to binging on the videos lol all the best lads god bless
Hello Lads ,best wishes from Orlando , Florida, have a great weekend.... we are trying to work a little this weekend.....but I always have time for my favorite WelderFabbers.....Paul
You should make videos of how jaw locks work, grease points and things to look out for and present them to whoever rents equipment. It would be easy to film while your repairing the machine.
Another great episode, guys. Can't wait for Saturdays to come round to see what you are up to this week. I can't believe the conditions the crushers come back off hire in. The operators must walk about with their eyes shut for them to get in such a bad state. I fully understand why it frustrates you, Baz. I would love to know roughly how much per annum the fab shop saves the company. You are well worth what you all get paid.👍
Like that Dig Dig, Be great for lifting sheet Plies and trench shoring. Going to look into them. Congratulations on the channel Baz and Director love the content
Great video! Trolls have all the right answers when they don’t have the tiger by the tail ! You can’t fault a person if they don’t know what to look for if they have never been shown, not trying to blame anyone. Tell Tony not to worry, we all have been new on the job before. Good find for Tony with the loose wedges on the jaw. Congratulations on the one year mark, looking forward to the coming year. Be Safe!

Bas, i have a question. Do these crushers ever get pressure washed while they are on site? I know its a muddy operation but the machine is complex and i cant help but think that a weekly pressure wash would do wonders to keeping the machine in operation longer. It would also give someone the chance to actually "see" any issues developing before a failure occurs. Just a thought. Thanks in advance!
Hey fellas, another great video, thanks. On those crushers it seems common that the tapers should be checked weekly but frequently aren't. Considering the damage, costs and PITA that failing to chek them causes I was wondering if you could have made a shroud tacked to the side and under the shroud a highly visible tag, very similar to wagon-wheel indicators, that drop below the shroud when the Jaw-nut loses torque and reveal something like "Loose DO NOT USE MACHINE" I think they would be cheap to make (laser cut) and easy to fit. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
Great video again Baz and director. Easy to point fingers at lads for improper maintenance on equipment but like baz said if Tony ain't been told how would he know they even existed. The same lad probably saved baz a lot more work if he had let that jaw go through the crusher. Love to see some of these who call out the apparent bad workers do a day in Tony's boots.
It would take my crew an hour to find all the chain, shackles, hooks and get it assembled. Probably the wrong size, and probably worn out. I think the lifting attachment is a fantastic idea.
A friend of mind was a fitter one time for caterpillar and when he gave it i ask him why ,he said everything is so fricking heavy 😂😂😂😂😂😂great work lads
good repair on the crusher especially straighten the bar link arm repair worked out well !!! unsure about lifting attachment ok for your use but not for hire, I think will get left in mud and if hirer stretches chains they would never tell you also chains are cheap to buy
To hell with the trolls Tony. A young man has to be taught to learn. It is 100% the companies responsibility to give full training. You can do 99 things right and some people will focus on the one thing that went wrong. Keep learning and working hard, not like the keyboard warriors 💪💪
Good morning . interesting video again. you are often at the breakers checking the wedge. It's not an idea. To cut your cap and add a piece of pipe, you don't have to turn everything by hand.
Another great video mate credit to you and director and been a great 7 months of videos 😀😀👌👌👌 and good to see not criticising people for not knowing and great to see waiting to educate them too stuff 👍👍👍
Great Chapter there Baz. I must say you have a good gang of Lads about you. 👍. When you was on about torque 👍this that F T as we call it ? I like the lifting hitch I think I may make one just for my use. Great channel keep it up 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good video thanks. Just got a question about that 160 push links. Have you checked the port relief valve pressures on the bucket circuit ? If they were stuck or set too high, they wouldn’t protect the ram or linkages. Not trying to be a smart arse, just an idea.
Glad you stuck up for your team member - You are one of the best. people I watch on here that will point and not let shit slide and will bring the keyboard warriors to task - I love your WF jackets they look awesome just about spent $300NZD on one haha
Good video Baz what some companies are doing around me in Somerset is when crushers go out on higher a man they send a man out with the crusher and he can monitor and if if anything goes wrong everyone knows where they stand it works well as slew drivers have one less thing to worry about and someone else can just focus on the crusher working it’s saves the company that higher then out good money
Hey Baz the new lifting block looks that part BUT lifting heavy loads against the hitch safety locking system in my eyes is a no go the small ram fails hitch opens that’s off the machine then it only has the safety flap stopping it from failing off 5 ton I’m sure will by pass that flap.
@@fendt5163 if the hook was on the bottom like most lifting blocks that go on excavators it wouldn’t be so bad it would be same down forces as a loaded bucket and the load would be distributed through the hitch but then it would get damage every time it was taken off the machine as the hook would be against the floor.
Lifting device looks good. But I wonder if operators will just go for the quicker version of get out of the cab to get a set of chains, rather than track across the site to get the attachment, then track back.
All good stuff young man. On the lifting front, when is an excavator suitable for use as a crane and are there any requirements such as a "crane function" that can be found on CAT excavators within their computerised menu?

Could you imagine if the business didn’t have their own fabrication team. The time and cost saved so far must be 👌🏼.

Yeah never lift with a curled in bucket cilinder when it doesn't have a hose rupture valve fitted.
As a machine operator, the sure lift looks spot on, beats rooting around trying to find the chains and the visibility is great as oposed to the quick hitch eye.
Baz the quick hitch adapter for lifting is great. A 1metre 5t single leg drop chain would be a great addition with this as well
another great saturday night viewing well done tony good to hear you looking after you boys baz

Hi Baz hope your well I think you could do video on how to operate a crusher properly and maintenance and checks could open a lot of people’s eyes
Try a thread file to repair the damaged thread, you can buy them both imperial and metric, very useful to add to your tool collection.
Another good one Baz and team
Awesome video thanks baz very much appreciated top job top team 🇬🇧👍

Good chronicle again and showing you have operators who look after kit, the dig dig attachment is so simple but very efficient and safe
@7.14 , I wouldn't wanna fall in there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😮
Enjoyed the video chaps.. excellent 👌
Nice fix on both jobs, liked the Dog Bone fix a lot.
Thanks 👍
Hey Baz Great work sir, may I ask why you weld the butter bars on the bottom of the teeth instead of the top?
Another good video , seen the flagship T-cab when I was coming home from North Wales on Thursday some truck

If you've got screener crushers out on long term hire do you not go round and do a 6 weekly service/basic pdi surely that would catch a lot of problems saving down time/revenue.
The lifting attachment very good idea great in pink.
We used that sort of thing on the rail years ago
A real ball ache coz we had to knock out front bucket pin to attach it for lifting
Keep up the great work
Great video Johnny , 😊 congratulations on your one year point , all the best baz
great video once again ,those crushers look high maintenance
they can when not looked after scot
well it's a good friday night / saterday morning we have a new WF video to watch
Thanks in advance!
they should get dug out if not washed weekly
Hey fellas, another great video, thanks. On those crushers it seems common that the tapers should be checked weekly but frequently aren't. Considering the damage, costs and PITA that failing to chek them causes I was wondering if you could have made a shroud tacked to the side and under the shroud a highly visible tag, very similar to wagon-wheel indicators, that drop below the shroud when the Jaw-nut loses torque and reveal something like "Loose DO NOT USE MACHINE" I think they would be cheap to make (laser cut) and easy to fit. Good video thanks. Just got a question about that 160 push links. Have you checked the port relief valve pressures on the bucket circuit ? If they were stuck or set too high, they wouldn’t protect the ram or linkages. Not trying to be a smart arse, just an idea.
The grinder blade Luke was using you get your money's worth I like it 😂 brilliant video again director

we do the same its up to whoever hires it
Good morning men 👍👍👍hope your both well bring on more 👍👍👍
When you heat the bar like that then let it cool does it not bend again with the temperature? Especially when you work in cold temperatures 🤷♂️
Hey Baz the new lifting block looks that part BUT lifting heavy loads against the hitch safety locking system in my eyes is a no go the small ram fails hitch opens that’s off the machine then it only has the safety flap stopping it from failing off 5 ton I’m sure will by pass that flap.
I was thinking the same, surely the quick hitch isn't designed to lift at that angle with all the weight on the locking mechanism?
@@fendt5163 if the hook was on the bottom like most lifting blocks that go on excavators it wouldn’t be so bad it would be same down forces as a loaded bucket and the load would be distributed through the hitch but then it would get damage every time it was taken off the machine as the hook would be against the floor.
its tested for 5 ton... I would only be using it for a couple at most on the small machine
Lifting device looks good. But I wonder if operators will just go for the quicker version of get out of the cab to get a set of chains, rather than track across the site to get the attachment, then track back.
Great episode baz ,the difference camera quality with that dji is amazing I might get one my self 😂😂
I love it still getting used to it
All good stuff young man. On the lifting front, when is an excavator suitable for use as a crane and are there any requirements such as a "crane function" that can be found on CAT excavators within their computerised menu?
