Basically flying at night to hone the skills. I did not do a grid search pattern was just working an area of our woods.
Also running a JZ T30 search light.

I’ve been eyeing the MP3T for a while & just (today) pulled the trigger on it after seeing your videos. If you don’t mind, I have a couple questions, 1. What add-on spotlight did you go with? And 2. Have you added any anti-collision lights/strobes yet, (if so what did you choose)?
I have the P3P, MP1, FlameWheels Hex & quad, and “had” the Inspire-1 w/Z3 until just crashing it last week for 1st time trying to drop through tree cover as hawks were chasing me. Barely tapped a couple leaves and wrapped up the prop. Damage was minor but too hard to find parts for the old girl.
The MP3T will be my 1st drone with built-in thermal and will come in useful for identifying over-heating LE’s / amps on aerial lines etc.

Regarding the strobes... your new bird has a strobe built into the top. I use it 100% of the time as birds don't like it either!

I did not realize this! So for clarity and piece of mind, are the built-in strobes compliant with FCC nighttime regulations?
Having the part 107 puts us in a new category of knowing vs. claiming ignorance as so many claim, so I’m doing as much due diligence as I can to stay proactive/prepared, as it will be delivered mid-week!
There is quite a bit that’s very similar to my others regarding primary app format, etc., however, there’s so much new tech that I’m not yet familiar with, since most everything I have is a bit “dated”…

Yes the strobe is compliant. You will want to program a hot key on your controller to turn it on and off. It actually hurts your eyes when you land without shutting it off! Where are you located?
@@W0GEN I’m a close neighbor in Indiana (an hour east of Indy), out in the corn, haha. We’re pretty rural with 5-acres, (half trees half lawn/dirt etc.). Cow pastures & corn/soy bean fields separate most neighbors.
I got interested in the SAR side of UAV in spring 2017, when a crop duster went down nearby and local FD was having a hard time investigating due to much of the wreckage in nearby small Forrest areas. For “fun”, I pulled out my drone to look around, and shortly thereafter I was approached by a leo asking to observe, followed by a small group of fire & police personnel asking if I’d look at X then X, etc. I didn’t have part 107, (I recall it being a very new law), so I was very clear (and nervous) with them, as I wasn’t sure of all the laws regarding this yet. Obviously they were not concerned and pretty much in the dark about all of it as well. Felt good being able to help, and they’ve all since gotten drone fleets of their own (not to say it related to this).
Your videos are a wonderful learning experience for flying my new Mavic 3T (which I just destroyed in a crash). I’m getting ready to watch your video showing flight data on the recording which I have struggled to figure out. Your graphics in this video said a custom color palette could be set. My biggest problem locating wildlife has been the severe clutter from too much heat signature. Please tell me how to limit the thermal range to have wildlife stand out better.

I'm about to pull the trigger. There is a spotlight that follows where the camera is pointing?!!!1??
The light follows the gimbal up and down, not side to side, to turn to the side you normally turn the drone to the side.

Can a proficient pilot with a thermal cam drone make a living doing SAR (BLM, Police, etc.)?
I would think it would depend on where you live. Here in the Midwest I would say no. Usually fill in type work

It is an add on.
How to record an image from the controller so that you can see the settings etc.?
There is a acreen record function that is on the controller. I will try and put together a video to show the process I use.

Black, hot and white hot not the “same thing,” they are the exact opposite.
You didn't hear what the observer said fully he said they are the same images but just reversed.
C mode is your friend. =]
@@W0GEN no. The majority of the times I crashed or almost crashed was in a tight spot and I didn't switch from N to C mode.
Anytime im in a tight spot i switch to C. Much more precise control in C mode.
