The second season is when this show really picks up with an overarching and more serious story so just know it gets better, though I still enjoy the first season, especially the last 2 episodes
I still like the fact that (Spoilers for S1) The bottomless pit comes back in Dreamscapers. Everyone thought that its the standard episode with the short stories in it.
Apparently some of the weirder lines that Wax Larry King had (like "llamas are nature's greatest warriors") were included soley because the crew wanted to see if he would actually voice them. Another proof that Alex Hirsch is just a massive troll.
This episode is worth revisiting after the end of the series. There's a gag about Stan that stops being funny and starts being tragic when you have all the mysteries answered. This story is surprisingly deep.
@@csanadcsepregi spoilers... I'm referring to Stan seeming self-absorbed and ridiculous for getting so attached to and speaking so highly of a wax-figure of himself. He even holds a funeral and seriously grieves the "death" of this inanimate object, but it's only in retrospect that you realize it's because it reminds him of Ford, and this is the closest he thinks he can get to saying goodbye to his brother.
So basically a lot of the earlier episodes in season one feel pretty episodic, but as it goes on, as he said, it and gets more serialized! But the great part about gravity falls is that in each episode there’s always something there that connects to a bigger plot, so after you know more about the show you can actually go back to episodes like the one you just watched and find things through them that are like Easter eggs or things that can only be explained by plot you learn later! Also as you mentioned at the end, a lot of these episodes serve to simply build up the atmosphere and introduce you slowly to the supporting cast.
See what I love about Gravity Falls is that it seems to strike a good balance between the character development, relationships, background characters, worldbuilding and supernatural elements/mysteries.
This episode takes on a whole new meaning once you’ve halfway thru season 2. I hope you can keep this episode in mind for when that time comes. The worldbuilding with the characters and the fact things are different based on a rewatch makes me consider this one of season 1’s best episodes. Also, Larry King.
This episode has a way stronger serialized aspect to it than you would expect, but it isn’t something you get into till way later. In retrospect this is one of the strongest episodes so I am looking forward to you guys being in on the appreciation.
OMG I cant wait till they get to THAT episode. The one that hooks you. The one that makes you realize they have an endgame planned. Ya know what I mean.
This is legitimately one of the best episodes in the series, at least in season one. It's pretty average when you just watch it in season 1 but after you finish the series and go back to it it's so much better and it shows exactly how much thought the creators put into the show.
They probably minimized the wax figures cause they had a huge expensive cast list. Cause yeah that was Coolio XD (and Larry, and John Oliver) Here's hoping you don't get many spoilers! I think it's more fun to go into shows with minimal expectations. If you're waiting with baited breath nothing will be better than your expectations, and also instead of just enjoying the journey the surprises aren't AS surprising when you're waiting for them to appear. I'm glad to see you guys enjoying it and I can't wait to see what you think as you go!
@@HJ-xw9yw man i hate it too it was going so well until I got on yt and saw a few frames although I'm glad it wasn't anything really massive just .....well nothing not trying to spoil even an inch of info
DuckTales meets Goosebumps! The perfect blend of adventure and horror, in cartoon form! Season One is mostly awesome standalone episodes but Season Two... you just wait! So epic!!
Sure in the beginning of this show, it is plain but later on it ACTUALLY will blow your minds off. At first I had the same thoughts like yall but after finishing this show I was amazed
Because the series does ratchet up stakes later, these fun episodes are part of character development and showing what those stakes actually are. It lets you grow familiar to these characters and learn to appreciate them. The pacing is amazing in this show.
Going forward each episode gets better and better. I can’t wait till you guys get to The Inconveniencing, Double Dipper, Fight Fighters & Summerween just to name a few.
I think filler is important if it's fleshing out side characters that will be seen again. Like Steven Universe, it's important that we see the people of the town the heroes live in, so we care along with the characters when things happen to it.
So, my family loves this show. We found that at the end of the opening credit scene, there is a whisper, and it's also in reverse, and if you reverse it back the right way, It gives you a cipher, then at the very end of the ending credits, there are lists of numbers, and you use the right cipher from the beginning of the show, and it has secret codes to crack. This show has tons of things like that.
This episode hits differently once you finish the show and you revisit it. A lot of the early episodes are episodic as people say, but there is always hints to the greater story in the background or a reference to it. Rewatching it, you look at these earlier episodes and see the references to the overarching story line and see how tightly knit the story really is.
Guys just wanted to say that people like y’all are the ones that make TH-cam the best platform ever you are both so good on what you doing keep it up 👍🏼
Omg you guys never watched this before I’m just now seeing this on your channel this show literally made my Childhood And yes this show gets dark in the later in the season
Trust me after a few episodes things get dark with either character development or just new supernatural monsters, ghosts, demons 👁 only gravity fall fans will understand the eye 😏
15:00 Zombies Ate My Neighbors is the game you were thinking of PS Have you been paying attention to the bottom of the screen at the very end of the credits of each episode?
A lot of background characters are recurring and you should try to pay attention to them for spoiler related reasons that I’m not going to specify. A non spoiler example would be that the miner who couldn’t get into the Skull Fracture bar was also at the wax museum unveiling, as was Mcguckets son.
i vote for a cameo reaction next episode in which we get to see all your cardboard cutouts particularly your cardboard cutout of aaron from blind wave which you definitely 100% have
Zombies ate my neighbors... such a 90s game, part goofy, part cool dude wearing 3d glasses to look radical... fighting zombies with super soakers and whatnot

See what I love about Gravity Falls is that it seems to strike a good balance between the character development, relationships, background characters, worldbuilding and supernatural elements/mysteries.
And creepy as all hell
It does become more serialized, but this season sets up a LOT of breadcrumbs. Also there is a game like that, Zombies Ate My Neighbors for SNES
I would have love to see Greg and john’s reaction to the part of the “yeah-yuh” on the keyboard by soos.
