From Canned Beans To Charro Beans | No one Will Know The Difference ❤

- CHARRO BEANS is one dish I prepare often, they are very popular here in South Texas, we also love to barbecue and have family gatherings and Charro Beans are a must... Charro Beans from a can started when I was in a rush to come up with a side dish and I didn't have time to cook a fresh pot of beans, so I used canned and now it's the way to go for me especially if I'm in a rush. It takes a few minutes and a few ingredients to prepare these and no one will know the difference.
INGREDIENTS----------------
4 16oz Cans Pinto Beans (I used Bush's)
5 slices thin cut bacon (chopped)
1/3 med onion (chopped)
1 large Roma tomato (diced)
1 finely minced garlic clove
1 jalapeño (diced small) (optional)
Small bunch cilantro (chopped)
1 1/2 Tbsp Chicken bouillon tomato flavored (Knorr)
2 C. water

This was a popular dish for us kids growing up. With buttered homemade tortillas, Mom was able to feed her 11 children on a “dime”.

I love that you use Bush’s beans; they taste great with all the other ingredients. If I had to do that step from scratch, they wouldn’t get made.

Looking at this; I remember that about a year ago, I wanted to try to make my beans more flavorful . And I can't believe I accidentally made charro beans! The only difference was instead of the chicken tomato bullion; I used chicken bullion and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. I'll try your recipe tonight 🙂

I made the beans today just like you wrote it except that I was lucky to find a big 53 Oz can of Bush's pinto beans rather than four little ones.
I absolutely loved the way they turned out! I'm the one who has hard water and bad luck with beans. These are delicious and flavorful and remind me of my favorite charro beans out at a restaurant. I ate three big bowls of them today! I'm doing them this way from now on. Thanks. I do think that special tomato bouillon is the key.

I followed the recipe but with 2 exceptions, I didn't have jalapenos, so used serranos & i added 1/2 lb of diced up beef summer sausage. Served with sweet cornbread. My wife said it was the best thing I have made in awhile!

Rachel, I love your videos. Takes me back. For your recipe i used my own canned pinto beans. I don't add anything to them when i can them just for this reason. Don't want overwhelming salt flavor. Also in the morning i instatpot pinto beans. In a short time they are fresh cooked and so tender.

I use canned beans all the time. Very versatile. I have never had charro beans. Look delicious.
Made these yesterday but cut the recipe in half. I ordered the bouillon off Amazon. Made steak and chicken fajitas to go with and the usual condiments and sides. Your beans I could actually just eat by theirselves. Shared all with my more elderly then me neighbors. Will definitely make these again.

Omg...I made this but did not have some of the ingredients ...I had bacon fat added to pot no bacon, but I had beacon bits...then had a Italian tomatoe...added garlic added a cub of chicken bouillon ...I had some frozen jalapeños added then water, dumped 2 cans of pinto beans...omg so delisious..

Oh wow these beans are so yummy...I love bacon so I added exta, half of a ham stake diced and I also added hickory smoked black pepper that you can get on Amazon. I will be making these for the next potluck for sure and your right no salt needed. I put a little in a bowl topped it with a nice layer of mexican cheese blend and put more beans on top of that so good. Thank you so much Rachel 💓

I made these today. I started before checking my inventory, and only had three cans of pinto beans, so I grabbed a can of refrieds and dumped those in as the fourth can. Holy cow! These were delicious, and the refrieds made for a really creamy mixture! I’ll be making these often. So easy, and delicious!

Rachel, this was EXCELLENT! I followed the recipe exactly except I thought your version might be a little soupy for me. I drained the beans, but reserved the juice just in case. I liked the flavors and texture without the bean juice. The added water provided just enough sauce for me. Maybe mine isn’t as traditional, but the flavors you built were right on. Thank you!
