I just made this recipe, and these are the meatiest, most delicious Charro Beans I've ever enjoyed. I was targeting the Goode Company BBQ (Houston) Jalapeno Pinto Beans side dish as I sought recipes on the web... but Kent's Charro's are even meatier and even better. Pinto's have a naturally nice "meaty" flavor differentiating them from other beans, which I'm partial towards. I was a little skeptical of the hotdogs, but after making a batch with good dogs, I'm digging them... good Andouille would work also. The 4 meats (thick cut bacon, ham steak, chorizo, hotdogs) mixed together really is very interesting and hearty, and makes these beans a meal all unto themselves. Kudos, Kent! This recipe is a big winner. Glad you got help with Tachycardia, sir!
I'm glad that you had the procedure for the atrial fibrillation and that your on the way to better heart health. Great video on your beans. My wife likes my frijoles ranchera. Those beans with a big old hunk of bacon cornbread to soak up the bean "gravy" is one of my favorite comfort meals in camp or at home. God bless you both and the "testers".
Do you traditionally put a beer in these beans while cooking? One Mexican restaurant I like says they use beer in theirs, but I've never seen beer in a recipe. Thanks!

A quick way that I learned to get rid of rocks and grit from your beans…panning for gold. Instead of sifting all those beans off the kitchen counter, get you some form of pan (even a gold pan if you have one) swirl those beans around in the pan (like panning for gold), and all of those heavier rocks and sand with go to the bottom of the pan, keep working it into one focal point in the pan while letting the actual beans spill over into another container, and by the end you will have washed those beans, and all the rocks and grit will be in the bottom corner of that pan. I don’t worry about picking out those half bean…they are beans, too. Just watch you a video on panning for gold, and you can clean and de-rock your beans in about 30 seconds…instead of several minutes of sorting through beans on the counter.
Those beans sure do look mighty delicious Kent! More importantly though... wishing you the best on your recovery my friend! Good to see you dancing around there cowboy :)
Glad to see you up and cooking, I was 3 months off work after heart surgery. I had a heart murmur for 43 years. They done took my heart out and changed a valve on it, they did. This episodes recipe looks better than any pot of beans I've seen, bless you and Shan and the four amigos.
Wow, just from the ingredients, this must be bombay! Thanks, Kent !!! My family has an incredible home made chorizo recipe, that with your recipe is going to be heaven.
I’m from Monterrey Mexico almost 53 years old and I love cooking, charro beans is one of my specialty and I’m gonna give you my recipe and try it, you will see the difference. Fry the bacon in a pot the way don’t get to fried just medium then add the onion, then about 4 Serrano peppers cutter in rounds that way whoever doesn’t like pepper is easy takeout of their bowl and then add the tomato, let them cook for around 5 minutes and then add the special ingredient half beer and let hem boil another 5 minutes. In a different pot boil pork toes in small pieces and pork skin in squares, let them boil in slow fire for about 2 at 2:30 hours until they are really soft. Once you have your beans already cooked add the salsa and the pork skin and toes without the water of the toes or you can add just a little bit because there’s a lot of fat on it, let them boil for around 20 minutes and add salt, once they are ready turn it off and add good portion of cilantro in 3 or 4 inch size pieces and throw it in the pot, cover with the lid and let them rest for another 20 minutes and then my friend you gonna eat the BEST CHARRO BEANS in your life. 👍🏼
My son (in his 20s) and I have both had ablations a few years ago. Takes time to recover, but worth the procedure. God bless. Good health to you and yours!

Mr. Kent so sorry to learn about your health problems. My mother was having similar problems but we’re blessed to have a great doctor who is as brilliant as he is kind. She had a pacemaker put in a couple months ago and she is having another minor procedure tomorrow and I know she will be fine. I will pray for your speedy recovery and continued health. We all love your program so much! God bless you and Shannon and the doggie crew my friend.
We used to get jumping beans all the time, when I was a kid... They were a type of bean that a certain moth liked and would lay its eggs in, when the larvae was mature and trying to fight its way out, it would jump around. If you held it in your hand, you could feel a pretty strong thump as it would try to "jump." I've not seen them in forever, I'm sure they made some crazy laws about abusing moth larvae (or bringing in foreign bugs) but these weren't the moths that eat your cotton/wool, just little bugs that went about their business. 😉
GOD BLESS ALL. All the best to you Kent and Shannon. Prayers to you both. US NAVY 73-77 And my brother, David Hood US Navy 1962-1970 RIP miss you brother.
Hey, Cowboy! I’m extremely glad to know you are on the mend! Attaboy! I just picked up the necessary items for these beans. I’m going to use the Anasazi beans you used in another video awhile back. They sure do look tasty! Be well, sir. John & Bear Hi again, Kent. Well, here’s how it went: I picked up a bag of chicharrones the other day, but as is pretty likely to happen around the ranch here, my grandsons showed up and made them disappear. Figures. Turns out that Bear is kind of a fan, too.🙄 So I made the beans anyway, and good Lord they are GREAT. That combo of ancho and guajillo are perfect. Given the unpredictability of jalapeños, I oven roasted a habanero (seeded) and threw that in, too. Wow. Thanks a big bunch for this recipe. Carry, on, you great folks! 👍👍👍
Love Kens recipes, but being a kosher “cowboy”, I substitute all pork ingredients with a “clean” substitute ie Beef chicken, turkey, fish, deer ,etc. The best ingredient that he puts in to every recipe is his humility and love ♥️.

So glad you're OK! You look good!!! An American treasure you are! Bless your heart. LITERALLY!

My son (in his 20s) and I have both had ablations a few years ago. Takes time to recover, but worth the procedure.

great bean dish. as someone that lives down on the border i eat this with family and friends. thank you for being part of are family.
Yes this is how we do it in Mexico 🇲🇽🤘🏼 Frijoles charros 🤠

GOD BLESS ALL. All the best to you Kent and Shannon. Prayers to you both. US NAVY 73-77 And my brother, David Hood US Navy 1962-1970 RIP miss you brother.
Hey, Cowboy! I’m extremely glad to know you are on the mend! Attaboy! I just picked up the necessary items for these beans. I’m going to use the Anasazi beans you used in another video awhile back. They sure do look tasty! Be well, sir. John & Bear
Hi again, Kent. 👍👍👍
Hope you enjoy
Love Kens recipes, but being a kosher “cowboy”, I substitute all pork ingredients with a “clean” substitute ie Beef chicken, turkey, fish, deer ,etc. The best ingredient that he puts in to every recipe is his humility and love ♥️.
