If this came out in the early or mid 2000s this exact version would've been huge. 95 just wasn't exactly time for this kind of sound. That's partly why Natalie's wonderful version became a big hit. It was pretty much a pure 90s mainstream sound.

Finding out Natalie's version is a cover to this is shocking yet totally makes sense. She bought her rights and used her talented voice (beauty too) to sell this song. Don't hate on her cause she is hot..MTV music video is to blame.
Imagine that hook verse was written back in 1977 it was in a notebook that was stolen guess she didn't know that. But Natalie did it right she sang the emotions in the poem. Oh well good for Them. The true message got out thats more important.

This was released a couple of years after the "original" recording which was by Lis Sorensen and in Danish. That one's probably closer to Imbruglias version even if if the title is changed to "burnt". I seem to recall that Ednaswap performed it live before the Sorensen version but never recorded it?

Poor marketing? Bad management? This original sounds better than the overly polished Imbruglia version and actually has a personality to it. The ironic thing is, they give this song to a cute little actress to sing, and she changes her physical appearance and style to be more like Anne's. I'll never understand the music business.
Just to let you guys know I just found out today that Natalie Imbruglia conned us all, and worst of all after finding out that her's was not the original version this one was, I then found out that Trine Rein's version was also released before Natalie's th-cam.com/video/GY6UEH0_pi8/w-d-xo.html. So Ms Imbruglia's version was the 3rd version that I know of and I now like the two previous version better than her's, So i'm sorry Natalie but you now have something else to be torn about.
