    Thanks for sharing my man. Med device sales, or sales in general, has this weird energy about it where everyone claims to be in the top 1% of achievers. Fact- less than half of sales people reach their yearly goal. There’s plenty of nuance when it comes to how much you’re going to make with a company. So many different niches in med device and different types of companies/management. I’ve been in the game for 4 years and it is extremely challenging.

    I’ve worked in medical sales for over eight years now and I’ve never made less than $100,000 in my first years. I never worked a sales associate role either. I started in DME, and slow transitioned to Surgical over a 3 year time frame. I’ve only ever worked for a smaller companies niche markets.

      Thats awesome. I try to tell people that reach out to not just go for the top 10 companies. That if you take your chance at a smaller organization you may reap better rewards. Getting some initial training at a top 10 org is nice and pads the resume, but results speak louder. Thanks for the comment!

Through your experiences what companies would you suggest I be on the look out for when entering a sales associate position. I am looking for decent solid pay but am more focused on what companies offer the best growth (Southern California). Any insight would be greatly appreciated. So happy I found your channel and subscribed - it has really allowed me to set myself up appropriately for this new journey.

      Hi Aren, thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate you. IMO I think getting on Intuitives radar or other similar robotics companies would be huge if you’re just getting in. Intuitive does a really good job of only promoting from within (for the most part). So they really set you up on a path for growth and the pay is far better than most other associate opportunities. Network with those reps and see if they know of an associate opening. Outside of OR capital companies like Siemens and GE are good options as well.

      Keep in mind these roles vary drastically in pay based on many factors.
      Stryker is highly known for seeing who can suffer through the first 2 years of their career with them. If you make it to the other end you get paid big bucks. Most don’t make it.
      If you go into regular Pharma sales (not med device), you’ll start at a higher salary + quarterly bonus.

      Hey Dylan, I hope the interview goes well for you. Spencer is spot on with his comment. You’re current income is at the peak of most entry level associate roles. You’re looking at potentially closer to 70-85 OTE in the role. This is essentially the decision point for your career switch into med device. Can you accept the pay cut and grind for a couple of years before getting into a better income bracket. Speaking with tech recruiters the sweet spot is 3-5yrs of experience and then you’re in the $200K+ range. Most device ops won’t have you there in that time frame.

    I went through four interviews with Stryker for the position to go to an internal candidate. I also had to give a very involved presentation that I worked on for four days. One of the interviewers also asked me to send her other Projects from my current job. The recruiter asked me if I was interested in other positions and she would push my resume to the interview process again. Looking back it wasn't meant to be, Stryker doesn't seem to have much respect for their employees.

    I’m going on my 2nd year as a nurse. I have connections at my hospital and other medical companies as well since I have been in healthcare for a while. I also have lot of clinical knowledge. Given my health at experience, do you think I have a chance at getting into medical sales?

    • @enriquepadilla9543
      @enriquepadilla9543 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! However you will need someone at a company pull you in and recommend you to get an interview, once you’re in you need to highlight the skills you have that would make you excel at sales. The clinical aspect is very helpful but not the most important, however when choosing between two qualified candidates and one has clinical experience that will give you the advantage. Additionally you may also have better luck in clinical support sales roles, you won’t be responsible for securing the business but you will be a great asset to implement the equipment and help train end users on a medical product. Additionally nurses with sales skills can be really good because they can relate to the end user really well and build champions and momentum within a customer organization to drive the sale forward.

    • @PierrePacini
      @PierrePacini  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate you and the comment. You definitely have the opportunity to get in. If you wanted to get a RN clinical role I think you need just a bit more experience, but you’re definitely thinking about things right. If you want the easiest transition I’d look into clinical specialist roles and see what their minimum experience requirements are and work on achieving those. You don’t need to have all of them. Just be prepared for the interview and sell yourself.

      Being good at small talk is definitely a positive and the more you put yourself in those situations the better you’ll get at it. When you get in you can just focus more on learning about the procedures etc to get them talking about what they are doing. Show that you’re interested in more than just your product getting used.
