    Pro tip. All of this can be easily bullshitted in an interview. Research the company website. Mirror the interviewer and regurgitate their verbiage. Ask thoughtful questions. Close hard. Ask for job.

    My name is Ben and I would like to thank you for these informative videos. This is the second video I came across. I just graduated with a bachelors last year, and have been working as a trauma CT tech. My next position would be an interventional radiology tech. I was looking into medical sales in the future and am so glad I came across your videos. I’m going to dig deeper into your channel and program and move up the ranks. 👊🏼

    Really helpful video! Definitely in the same boat just graduated from the university of Oregon with a business admin degree this past june. Although it was hard work didn't put the same effort outside the classroom in terms of my career. My sister is in her final year of med school and I looked into that field and learned about medical sales rep. It's great to know that there are people who were just like me who are now successful and that just because I started on the wrong foot doesn't mean I have to be stuck in a terrible position! Thanks for the inspiration!

    What’s up, Kolby. I’ve been in surgical device sales for the past three years right out of college. What are your thoughts on striving and/or reaching positions of management within surgical sales? Would you consider becoming a regional manager, Director, etc., etc.? Being that I am young in such a tough career industry to crack and thriving, positions of management is something that has always intrigued me and I wanted to get your perspective. Thanks

    • @KolbyWoodMedicalSales
      @KolbyWoodMedicalSales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Pros and cons to management. Managing people can be very difficult and honestly, not fun at all at times. I'm sure at some point I'll try to become a manager, but I'm not in a rush to get there. As long as you still enjoy knocking on doors and putting in the day-to-day work, I wouldn't try to move up. Grass always seems greener.

    • @pjt3887
      @pjt3887 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sales reps always make more than manager's. That's usually why the tops sales person and the manger have friction. I've managed people it's a lot like being a mother. Hard work, long hours with very little recognition for all of your hard work to make your sales Representative or children successful. 😉😆

    Hey Kolby,
    I’ve been an ICU nurse for almost a year now. I’m going to school for my MBA soon. I have a hard time deciding whether i want to go into medical sales or go the administrative route in the hospital. I am passionate about medicine and I’ve always been curious about medical sales. I think it intimidates me that if I don’t perform the way I’m expected that my “career” will be in jeopardy. What’s your professional opinion on the job security in this career?

    • @MecConnect180
      @MecConnect180 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've got to follow your passion. You are getting an MBA. Medical sales can provide you an opportunity to use your nursing and your MBA. Kolby nails it. Do you have "the it factor"? In addition to knowing things (which as a nurse you do) and being impressive, the "It Factor" managers look for is that "burning desire" to succeed? Money isn't everything, and hopefully it's not your top priority, but if you are going into sales, it's got to be a major priority. Hiring managers are looking for that next Top 10 rep to improve their team. Who will walk on stage? Who wants to win an award trip? Medical sales is an awesome career; none better. Good luck.

    Hey Kolby I’m a current Junior at Michigan State from Metro Detroit studying physiology with a minor in leadership of organizations and I’m currently looking for an internship to improve the sales aspect of my skill set, but most positions I’ve seen are only looking for business students. Do you have any advice on how to find experience in sales without the “typical” major employers are looking for? Great and informative video! Thanks!

    • @KolbyWoodMedicalSales
      @KolbyWoodMedicalSales  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it's a volume issue. Need to connect with more employers about possible sales internships. You prob won't convince the ones who are already committed to only bringing on business students. Expand the number of companies and the number of industries until you find the companies who will take somebody that isn't a business major.

    Hi Kolby. Thanks for the video!! I have been very successful in education sales for the past 9 years. I am big into fitness and health, etc personally, but am not very seasoned in anatomy and physiology. I wanted to ask you, can medical equipment sales be done on the phone and computer, or is it mostly in person? Also, can it be done from home? Lastly, and I appreciate your feedback, are there resources you can recommend for seasoned sales people that aren’t an expert on the medical terminology necessary to be excellent in medical sales? Thanks!!
    Edit: I didn’t finish your video and I believe you have a program. I’ll look into this further. I just wanted to see if there were some free resources out there for basic understanding.

    • @KolbyWoodMedicalSales
      @KolbyWoodMedicalSales  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a senior in nursing school and will graduate with my BSN in a few months. I am preparing to work a sales/recruiting job this semester and have an abundance of medical knowledge, as well as clinical experience working in an ER. If you were in my shoes, would you go all-in on trying to break into med sales or would you work as a nurse for 1-2 years first to be able to really market yourself as a reliable expert in the medical field?

    • @KolbyWoodMedicalSales
      @KolbyWoodMedicalSales  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re sure you want to do med sales, I would recommend trying to get in now instead of sticking with nursing. Having nursing experience actually doesn’t have as much relevance to med sales and you may think.
      My guess is it would be harder to get into med sales after a couple years of nursing than it would right now.

      Kolby Wood No way!! That’s insane! In no way am I saying anything about you or reps personally but holy mother of god to be selling a drug or device that goes into the body and the only background one has in how it works is what is basically marketing material? This isn’t selling a car or a pair of jeans! What are these companies thinking?!

    IT Factor: young, attractive and talk a big game. Unfortunately it does not = results. The less “impressive” have skills that deliver results but they don’t blow hot air.

    LOL. $157grand IS a lot of money. I've been making a combined income of $60k with my husband and our family of 5 for 14 years (living in CA) and we live a good life. Don't know why you went on a weird tangent of the worth of money. Don't waste your time watching the last 15 minutes of this. Know things and Be Impressive.

      @@KolbyWoodMedicalSales great video man! I learned a lot about the “it factor” I was just like you in high school, was on the hockey team but didn’t have great grades. I just know that being street smart and getting Cs and Bs gets you places in life. My parents always say to me Cs get degrees and that’s absolutely true!
