80% silver! Silver is about $44:00 an ounce! 😍
I bought myself a graded one and couldnt be happier
My daughter found 6 in 1 roll from the bank. I'm still in shock.
What a roll. 👌🏻
I have a number of them that haven't seen the light of day since 1966
I was lucky few years ago when someone was selling 1966 rounds for $10 a piece so I snapped up 30 of them in top condition and several had double bars.
That’s great going.
I have found only one in a roll about 18 months ago so it is possible.
Good luck 👍.
only once i had one found in change but gee i have bought heaps of round fifties over the years
👍🏼
Got a 1966 in my change 4 days ago 😊
That’s awesome.
i got one just recently in my change
That’s awesome ✅
I read that the reason why they changed the (round 1966) 50 cent coin was because it was confused for the 20 cent coins and also because of its silver content worth more than face value!
I was there at the time and had an interest. No way were they confused with the 20 cent or two shilling (florin) coin. Though, there may have been some minor rumblings.
It was the silver content that drove the withdrawal from circulation. As to why the shape was changed, I have no idea.
They changed it because it was worth more than face value due to its silver content and inflation during that time.
If it wasn’t mistaken for the 20 cent coin, why didn’t they leave the shape round?
I suppose the round 50c were still in circulation and had the silver content in them.
I don't know,@@ChristopherJonasz. The sizes of the two coins were/are vastly different. Yes, there might have been the odd whinger, but they would have been very much in the minority.
Look at the different diameters of the one dollar and ten cents coins - very little difference between those two and who's complaining?
❤❤
A mate got one a few weeks ago
6.$5
I note that some of the coins of certain years are known to have a 'rotation'. You appear to check for these. However, what is there to say that coins of other years don't have a rotation? I don't see you checking for these. Why is it, or is it not, so?
Yes it can happen on pretty much any year although it’s more likely on particular years. I don’t check every coin because it slows my search down.
@@coincollectinganddetecting Many years ago (in the eighties), I was handed some change which had in it, a shiny, quite new dollar coin. The shininess of this coin made me look closer and I noticed, by pure chance, that it was rotated by around 45º. I had no idea of the implication of this and its value to a collector.
I put it in a bottom drawer and forgot all about it.
Years later, I learned something of its value and decided offer it on eBay.
I was stunned to discover that someone would pay me $35.00 for it.
Though it was clearly circulated, it was very new and in excellent condition. Methinks the buyer might have got himself a bargain.
😮Wh😅ere do I sell them
fleabay
i have an uncirculated 1966 50c
I got about a thousand of them.
You keep 'em tucked away in your bottom drawer. While they're there, I'll liquidate mine.
@@BillSaltbush I have a feeling silver is going to go quite up in price so I will hang on.
Wow. A thousand! I've only got 3 of them.
I also have a 1946, 1952 and 1954 Aussie Florins.
@@jaggedlines2257 I started buying them years ago and started when they were around $8 each.
