Man, have I got some 50 cent pieces you would like to see. About 25 years ago when I was about 10 my parents used to own a shop. Every day I would sit at the counter sorting through 50 cent coins. I managed to collect many different types and tbh I'm so proud of myself for having held onto until now.. always fun to pull em out to show random guests who come by to visit us. 😊 Forgot to mention from Australia too.
I have most of these plus many more. My dad started collecting the 'different' faced 50c coins when I was little. I have now expanded this to all the 20c, $1 and $2 variants. I also have a 2022 $2 coin that I picked up the day she died and just added my first 2024 $1 Prince Charles coin to the collection.
I was going through a container in the shed with childhood memories in it. I found a bag with coins that I had forgotten about. It has some pennies, half pennies, some decimal coins and a round 50 cent coin as well. The newest coin was from the early 90 so the coins had been sitting in the container since then.
Thank you for the video. I pulled out my collection of 50c coins and they range in years from 1973 to 2020. Be interesting to look up the value of them now.
I love the Federation Coins too, I have most of these, even have the 1966 one too., surprised in this lot your missing the 1982 Commonweath Games, that's a favourite along with the 1981 Prince of Wales and Lady Dianna. Love your video and happy to subscribe. Always in the look out in the change too,
With that lady Diana coin 1981, I found a couple that don’t weight correctly, they’re meant to weigh 15.55g give or take a little, but I’ve got one that weighs 15.30g & 15.75g. Have you got any that strange weights?
i have my mothers coin collection, theres coins from everywhere, and she dated them all ect, ive got a feeling i have some worth quite a bit, i think most of those 50's are in the collection.thanks mate.
I have a number of the 1966, round 50 cent coins. They ended up in my possession after being hoarded by three family members in days gone by. They're certainly novel and God only knows what I'm going to do with them. Given I've had them in a drawer for so many years, they're likely to end up with whomever goes through my stuff when I fall off my twig.
Hi. I won't be far behind you when you fall off your twig. I must be mad too, I 've just started collecting coins at 76 years of age. I'm disabled (Service related) and wanted to have something to leave to my new Great Grandsons (twins). By the time they're 21 the collection may be worth something. Who knows. Maybe there's no such thing as coins in 21 years time :-) I was wondering if you'd be willing to sell some of your 50 cent pieces. I just purchased what I thought was an almost complete set but that didn't turn out too well. I wrote what happened a few comments up the page. Maybe I can pay you some money you can leave to someone when you finally kick the bucket 🙂(Hopefully not for many, many more years)
You can search on eBay and filter your search to sold items to see what they have been selling for. Then match the condition of your coin with one that has sold to get a fair idea on what someone is willing to pay. You could take them to a coin dealer near to where you live although you have to remember they are businesses with costs and need to make a profit so their values might be lower.
@@BH_tradie yeah mine too. From the round ones to today she’s got them. She would’ve had more but one of my (b***h) sisters bloody well stole the collection back in the 80’s and spent a lot of them on lollies . Lucky back in those days the shop keeper knew my mother and alerted her about the heist. Mums still angry to this very day.
hi Michael l have a collection of coins and notes , there is pre decimal as well how do l go about selling them some have never been circulated and are in there original form. any advice would be appreciated
Hi Michael. I was noodling through x40 rolls of 50C coins and came across a 1980 50c coin with a "2" pressed into the Obverse (located RHS of the Queen's shoulder). The impress is not a later stamping of a 2 but rather appears to have been stamped at the time the planchet was stamped at the mint. I've looked through multiple books and websites but can't find anything listing this type of marking. Any thoughts????
Hi There thanks for these informative videos May I ask a Question Please I have come across a heap of 50c pieces that my Dad had stashed all of these in this video are there Should you leave them in the condition that they are in or should you clean them up ?
@@016cobra Cleaning with solvents and polishers devalues coins in collectors eyes. If there is surface dirt a light wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth is fine.
Many years ago when I worked in a local store, this woman came in for some smokes. She was that desperate for a ciggy, she paid with 2 round 50 cent pieces... and yes, I absolutely swapped them out and still have them to this day.
I've just sdtarted collecting coins (Aussie mainly) I purchased a set of 50 cent pieces and the way the ad was written made me believe they were by years. The ad showed 51 coins from 1969 to 2022. I thought it wouldn't be too hard to find a 1966-67-68-2023-24. Unfortunately many years were missing as well as these 5. A collection of 50 cent pieces from every year. Is it possible to buy the coins I need to complete the set in one go and will I have to pay a small fortune for them?
Ohwow, I have several round 50's and many of the others. My kids when younger raided and spent a lot of my 50 cent coin collection so I lost a lot of them.
Is there a 33 penny /halfpenny , over stamping the second 3 as a 2 was original , and not many got thru before the error was realised , but not to waste overstamped , hence overstamping , is that the year please , had so many , star notes , oh my gord
When you search it on eBay filter your search to ‘sold items’ to see what they are actually selling for. People can list coins for whatever they want but it doesn’t mean people are buying them.
I have quite a collection of 50 cent pieces also about 15 $2 coins with the 3 markings on them how much are they worth and where do l sell them the $2 coins ive seen are for big money it would come in very handy to be ablevto sell at the right price 19 68 $2 coins
Hey Micheal, this is great, thank you. Wondering though, do you know much about $1 & $2 notes. I have 10 consecutive serial numbers, uncirculated. Any idea how popular or what these would be worth? Cheers
I had about 30 round ones. Took them to the coin shop and got about $150 for them. That’s the problem with coins, when you want to sell them you get nothing like what you expect.
A recent selling price range on eBay is $15-$28 each. Coin Dealers have costs and need to make a profit so their prices will naturally be lower. If you figure out how to sell things yourself on sites like eBay you can achieve better prices.
