Sometimes anxiety comes from a traumatic childhood experience. It’s very important to take care of your anxiety quickly. Don’t let it control you, you have to control it. Anxiety can be with you for life. It’s a matter of controlling it.
I’m in the Marines right now and have been getting help too. So many people have talked shit about me for getting help. I’ve been wanting to make videos about getting help and my experiences. I’m extremely nervous to do it but our brothers and sisters need to see that they aren’t alone
I had some similar experiences when I was in the Corps. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was in the service. My command did everything they could to make sure I didn't get an honorable discharge by lowering my pros and cons. But medical put me through a medical board and I left the military with retired benefits. That part of my life was pretty hard on me. I had other psychological issues too (anxiety and depression among them) that I don't really talk about. The whole time I saw a therapist and we worked through my issues. It's 12 years later, I'm still a schizophrenic but my other psych issues are gone and even though medication has pet a lot of weight on me, things are good. Life is definitely greener on the other side. At least it can be if things go right.
Anxiety is a real thing... I personally think that some people think it’s not real but it in fact is. I have generalized anxiety disorder and a few phobias that go along with it. My anxiety can be so bad at times that I’m stuck at home. I think more awareness needs to be shed on anxiety and mental illness in general.
I'm gonna say this...it wasn't immature of you...at all. What you just described was a call for help. This unfortunately is the side of military life that a lot of people ignore and what a lot of young people never really learn about...until they are in service. As far as getting hit on by men...there is a whole reddit forum of women who have shared there stories like yours...doesn't seem like the culture for that is going to change anytime soon...unforetunately. Hope to God you find the help you need from people you can trust. Thank you for your service. ✌️and ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story, the military life is very hard especially when you feel like your trapped with toxic leadership, bad barracks life, bad work environment, and so much more. Stay strong 💪 ♥️
Hey girl! Listening to your video, I went through a similar situation. I got to my ship, they were on deployment and it was really rough on me. I went through sexually harassment and my anxiety just went through the roof. I’ve had it seen, and I finally got help this year and taken off a ship because I had suicidal ideation. I’m currently on LIMDU. I’m so happy to hear you got the help you needed ❤️ Keep holding on ❤️☺️
I can definitely relate to you. I had anxiety while in the military but thankfully I had met someone who helped me through it and we we've been married for 23 yrs now, it is a very hard environment for females who haven't really been completely independent from their family and its certainly the worst thing ever when you have anxiety as the icing on the cake.
I practice meditation everyday to keep my anxiety and overthinking habits tame. It takes a month for it to make a difference, i believe it's much better than pills because meditation is all natural and a skill
You're such a great person, I hope you get better now that you're out. Don't worry for what people say, you are the most important person in your live ❤
I can definitely relate to everything you are saying. The problem in the USMC is that the lack of purpose as a daily Marine seems to effect young Marines. In 2012, as a 20 year old Marine in Okinawa, Japan I had a lot of feelings of worthlessness. It wasn't the best time of my life, but I know that I am wiser because of it.
Your story about having a hard upbringing reminds me of my own story. I’m sorry your leaders failed you. I stayed in for eight years and I absolutely loved it every minute of it. I loved everything about the Marine Corps. But I honestly do not think that would’ve been possible without the strong leaders I had. I was never treated any differently and they expected a lot from me. I think perhaps the reason I stayed in was because I had nothing left but me. Also, I always thought the Marine Corps was cakewalk compared to getting physically beaten every day by my stepfather. I grew up in an extremely violent home so the Marine Corps was what I saw as the only thing that saved my life. While I was in the Marine corps I focused on being a Marine. And I don’t honestly think that would’ve been possible without good leadership. So in that regard, perhaps they failed you.
I want to thank you for your honesty. It takes courage to do what you did - become a Marine AND talk about your mental health. I commend you for doing what was best for YOU. Is it selfish? Who tf cares. Take the time you need for you, heal... it’s going to be painful and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I too come from a traumatic childhood and it has been helllllll... like you, in anger management, depression, anxiety, even ptsd... but it does get better IF we put the work IN. May God bless you.💖💖💖
