These are the things I LOVE about farm-tubers as a non-farmer! There’s so much to learn about all the things our farmers do, which should make ppl appreciate them even MORE! We couldn’t survive without them
Conley, you did a great job of explaining the difference between a striper and a picker. You explained it pretty much the same way it was told to me 50+ years ago in NE Gaines Co. And yes to a previous post where would we be without the American Farmer growing our food and fiber. 👍🇺🇸👆🇺🇲
Have ve you thought running both? Take the picker through first and make two or three passes then run the stripper for a less than desirable bonus . If possible and feasible.
Loved your video on the picker and stripper. I am just now getting started in cotton. Before I start, I will be doing organic cotton and wanted to check with you to see what type of cotton is best to grow for that and should I use a picker or striper for it? Please advise? Thank you!
Hello mate! I really liked your videos with the cotton stripper! I am from Greece and also a cotton farmer. I listened to you saying bales per acre and i was wondering about your yields. Could you please tell me what is your lowest and what is your highest yields? Also how much does a bale weight? Do you mean bale after ginning? Thanks in advance!
Our yield all depends on how much water we have our highest yield has been 6 bale per acre and our lowest has been .8 bales per acre. One bale/ginned bale weighs 500 pounds. One round bale that comes out the stripper weighs average 4,400 pounds
Do the livestream for sure. Thanks a lot for explaining WHY some people run pickers. I have a new renter on a place and he owns a picker. BUT, he has access to a stripper if the situation calls for it. There was some dryland cotton down the road from me that probably made 2 bales but it looked like he left another 1/2 bale in the field. (SW OK) The humidity has definitely caused problems in harvest. But unirrigated corn, cotton, peanuts.... are really turning a profit.....THIS year....lol😏😝.
Thank you for making this video. Ever since I started watching your videos about cotton harvest, I have wondered where a picker or a stripper would be used instead of the other. I think a livestream would be awesome.
Didn’t see this post at first, but I like hearing the comparison between both machines. With the field that you showed at the end, I’d honestly say use the picker. And yes! Do the live stream!
Yea in the end after I uploaded the video we did have the neighbors picker help us out a little. And it did do a good job it just left as much on the bottom of the plant as the strippers did on the plant. It just didn’t have a problem with clogging the header
Thanks for the information cause I was very curious what the difference was between the two was you guy have a pretty cool operation where you guys are at and the peanut harvesting is really cool to never seen that before I started watching this channel
Good video on a subject that’s foreign to a lot of folks! Well explained! We don’t see many strippers at all in the southeast. We run 2 CP 690 machines here in Alabama. I’ve been fooling with cotton for about 50 years, and never run a stripper! I really enjoy your videos, you do a great job!
Was thinking @ cotton strippers/ Pickers was thinking if could put an vacuum in between the rows could such an devise be practical with wire brush as an kicker get more cotton or does the machines have these on them "was terrible job!"
Maybe you could get more cotton but it would be very dirty cotton anything the machine drops or fails to pick up, going over a second time usually isn’t worth it
Humidity is a huge factor as well. West Texas high plains cotton fields don’t have the humidity that we have in the Mississippi Delta. Strippers don’t perform as well in high humidity and pickers don’t do as well in low humidity.
How often do you have to rebuild the gin behind the cab of a stripper? And what all is involved in doing so? Ive seen a few strippers in my time, but they were all on a stage..... 😂
These are the things I LOVE about farm-tubers as a non-farmer! There’s so much to learn about all the things our farmers do, which should make ppl appreciate them even MORE! We couldn’t survive without them
I would love to see a side by side comparison in that field. I learned something today. Thank you.
Good job explaining the difference for everyone. Humble, honest, and very accurate.
I'm a farmer a didn't even know there was a such thing as a cotton stripper! Great informative video my friend!

Well thanks I’m glad it all made sense
Have ve you thought running both? Take the picker through first and make two or three passes then run the stripper for a less than desirable bonus . If possible and feasible.
It’s not worth the time and fuel

Haha oh yea I like the $1.15 cotton. Bit dry land cotton usually always works better with a stripper
Yes on the livestream. Thanks for telling us the difference between the 2 machines.
Thank you for making this video. Ever since I started watching your videos about cotton harvest, I have wondered where a picker or a stripper would be used instead of the other.
I think a livestream would be awesome.
Sweet then I’ll have to do one

Hello, good time. How many tons of cotton do you harvest per hectare?
Used to have one of them back in my day, he was a bit slow from time to time but he was alright
Pickers can also run in a bit higher humidity
*Thanks for your explanation, it makes more sense now!*
How much does one of those costs?
Thanks for the information cause I was very curious what the difference was between the two was you guy have a pretty cool operation where you guys are at and the peanut harvesting is really cool to never seen that before I started watching this channel
Thanks I’m glad your enjoying the channel
Жондере сила
Thank you for this very informative video.
I understand you I use to do same work you are doing cool Matt 😎
Very nice👍👍👍 work brother i like you
I wonder the sales percentage of cotton stripper and cottton picker in the US, and which will be the future trend?
Well I’m our area with short stubby dry land cotton you need a stripper, so they won’t be getting rid of them anytime soon

Thanks I appreciate it
As always great information. I see you trimmed your beard. Would love to see you live.
Haha thanks yea it was about time

Bro how you give water to cotton. I have seen many videos of your but i can't see irrigation system.
We use center pivot irrigation
Live 👌
First yes on live stream, next if you had a chose picker of stripper one or the other wich would you choose
Probably a picker. Yea it is maybe a bit more maintenance because you need water and grease but there’s less chance of fires starting
Humidity is a huge factor as well. West Texas high plains cotton fields don’t have the humidity that we have in the Mississippi Delta. Strippers don’t perform as well in high humidity and pickers don’t do as well in low humidity.
Oh yea that’s also true
Important point
How often do you have to rebuild the gin behind the cab of a stripper? And what all is involved in doing so? Ive seen a few strippers in my time, but they were all on a stage..... 😂
😅Maybe once a year, we replace saws and brushes. But throughout the year we’ll replace broken saws
@@conleybanman I remember seeing you replacing the brushes in a video. But how hard is it to replace the saws?
It’s not crazy difficult it’s just time consuming
Pickers better then strippers
Not always
Majority of our area does require a stripper. Everyone at least has one, pickers aren’t that common around here but people still use them
In india we pick cottan by hand
No u dont
U lie india picks cotton by pickers I just asked Google
U lier
That's the way we done it 200 years ago. 👍🇺🇸
@@RealJohnWayne no it wasn't he doesn't pick it by hand
