I took my 33 year old son to this concert when he was a teenager. It was his first concert ever and he still says it was his favourite to this day. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

My older sister and her then husband took me to my first concert (Blue Oyster Cult and RUSH)!!! I couldn’t sit down the entire show and couldn’t sleep for hours after. Being a beginner middle school drummer, Neils percussion and drum set blew my mind! It wrapped all the way around him. The crew (roadies) had to swing a peace out and back into place for him. You gave your son a very good memory.
You can't help but love this Powerful Trio.

This was how they started their 30th anniversary tour. They had a little video that played right before they came out on stage that featured the comedian Jerry Stiller (Ben;s dad).
They are playing shortened versions, without lyrics obviously, of a selection of their songs from their first half dozen albums. The songs featured are:
"Finding My Way" from their first record (John Rutsey on drums) 1974
"Anthem" from the Fly By Night album, their first w/ Neil drumming and writing lyrics. 1975
"Bastille Day" from the Caress of Steel album. 1975
"A Passage To Bangkok" from side two of the 2112 album 1976
"Cygnus X-1 (Book I: The Voyage)" from the album A Farewell To Kings 1977
"Cygfnus X-1 (Book II: "Hemispheres") from the album Hemispheres 1978
"The Spirit Of Radio" starts their actual set.
My wife and I saw this show and although Geddy wasn't singing it was cool because even if some didn't know the words the majority of the crowd certainly did so all they had to do was listen to the rest of the audience. We were even in tune and on key (for the most part).
If I'm not mistaken this is from the R30 DVD which is features their performance in Frankfurt, Germany. They'd last another decade and record two more original studio albums (Snakes & Arrows; and Clockwork Angels), along with a 40th anniversary tour thrown in because they felt that they owed something to their fans for allowing them to do the thing they love for longer than most professional careers last, let alone those of rock & roll musicians. Just thought you'd like a little more info on what you just heard.

My friends and I were lucky enough to see Rush back in 2010 when they did their stop in West Palm Beach on their Time Machine Tour. Rush jammed over 3 hours.

This intro is genius: It was part of a song from each of their first six albums in order leading up to "Spirit of the radio" from their number 7th album "Permanent waves"
I think this is the best test for any Rush fan. If you can give the titles to each of the songs without thinking about it first you pass lol!

Brad Poynter another reactor brought up a good point about the intro. These are all songs from their early years that Geddy would have a very hard time singing now. This is a good way to get a taste of one of your favorite songs without Geddy having to sing them.

rush always comes up with a creative intro for the spirit of radio... i remember on the exit stage left tour they played the theme song for the 3 stooges as the intro for it and even made that sound amazing haha.. or maybe it was “a show of hands”.. i cant remember, been so long
1974...Billy Preston concert....opening band is some Canadian band and then some band from back east.
I was there to hear Billy jam on keys since I was trying to teach myself. I was a guitarist and my hero, Mark Farner, played keys as well as guitar.
So I am on the front row literally leaning on the stage, and the house lights finally go down, when this intro begins(first part of "Finding My Way"). So I am already a Black Sabbath fan, Steppenwolf, and Yes. I am only a couple of feet away from Alex during most of the show. I was blown away.
Then the second band from out east comes out. Weird ass group with their faces all painted. Just about then someone hands me a purple cigarette. I hit it then I look up and this 8 foot tall demon is standing in front of me playing bass.
I really don't remember Preston's show...lol

Great reaction lol.. have been lucky enough to see them several times and you know what, at one of the concerts they did kinda the same thing as this one where the intro to the concert was a montage of a bunch of their earlier tracks.. like this, it was awesome but the only downside was that you knew you weren't going to hear the full individual tracks during the rest of the concert. Of course with as many albums as they have you knew full well you were gonna hear loads of other great tracks so all good.. I can't describe what it was like to hear them live tho, such energy as I've never experienced before or after.. truly amazing stuff.. Great to see others appreciate the same vibe too.. nice one :)
