Black Sabbath was influenced by Led Zeppelin everybody always gives Black Sabbath credit for supposedly inventing heavy metal but they really didn't! Zeppelin pretty much gave birth to metal at around the 3 minute mark of dazed and confused! All hell broke loose at that time mark Jimmy Page was on fire and especially John Bonham totally beast mode on the drums! And John Paul Jones pounding those four strings to a climax! And Jimmy Page the original shredder! Besides the band Coven who Sabbath was the second dark band behind coven! Zeppelin borrowed the riff from Eddie Cochran´s "Nervous Breakdown", and sped it up. Whit that, I´d also like to say that I'm not accusing them for doing so. It is a natural thing to base a jam on a song you know. And sometimes it transforms to something else and becomes a new song. Witch is a good thing. But I really recommend a listen to Cochrans "Nervous Breakdown". Because its the heaviest song from the 50:s. And his more obscure song, the instrumental "Eddies Blues", has guitar solos and produdction work that are crazy ahead of it`s time.

Before you and your fan base scream "No Way" listen to 'The Knife', 'Squonk', 'Dance on a Volcano', or 'Los Endos'. 'Mama' (has a great video). 'ABACAB' or 'Domino' are great LIVE and pretty heavy. Not your typical '80s Genesis. (though they don't ever shred cuz its not their style) Fun Fact: Phil Collins's favorite drummer was John Bonham and is good friends with Robert Plant. Phil snuck into bars underage to hear them play in London before they cut their first album!
I always thought this song was FIRE, and is very distinctive of all rock songs with that rhythm and guitar solo. Also, all bands influence each other, so no doubt that it's possible that Sabbath got a little hint from Breakdown. There's nothing new under the sun in some ways.

Then, watch the movie "Heavy Metal" which features some early metal songs, such as the title song "Heave Metal" by Sammy Hagar. You Know, the Red Rocker? Went on to join Van Halen after David Lee Roth left?

Now Metal, of course not by today’s standard, but back then, the term had not been coined yet. It obviously isn’t metal, but I think the confusion lies in the influence on metal players of today so you have to take into account that this came out in the 60’s and with all the players it influenced afterwards. In other words, it isn’t metal but it gave rise to metal along with Sabbath I think.
