❤🎉😮 Douglas Fairbanks Jr was absolutely stunning and an impeccable actor, truly in a class by himself on both counts!! No one in Hollywood then or since could touch him. Pity when the leading man is prettier than his leading ladies, but he was!! Love him. 😍❤️😊😋🎥
Like Father like Son. Both Sr. and Jr. Fairbanks were extroidary actors. So handsome. Total Class. Its a shame they dont make them like these gentleman anymore. Its nothing we'll ever see again. So Sad!
That first scene when she tells Jr. to turn around and looks at him for the first time , who wouldn’t fall in love 😅... I loved the sweet motherly/son relationship with the land lady too. Too bad this isn’t on dvd , thanks for uploading.
Douglas and Valerie are both in top form in this. Valerie is just lovely.Douglas plays against his handsomeness, a wise choice, it works, yet at the same time, ironically, it makes him all the more handsome. I got a kick out of the scene where he chews gum like a tough guy. I'm willing to bet he never chewed gum like that in his adult life. It is fine to see him do the balcony jump, emulating his extremely famous father. The last few minutes of this film are pure ham, but it is ham done to perfection, kind of a Valerie and Doug in synopsis and reprieve. In short I really enjoyed this film. I hope you will, or did, too.
Thank you so much! I'm very surprised there are only 375 Views, 6 (including mine) Likes and 0 Comments, especially being posted for about a year and a half!!! Also that it's taken me this long to find it! And thank you so much again for this and all Douglas Fairbanks Jr movies you've posted! I absolutely LOVE even just looking at that dreamboat but I also appreciate his acting! Lol! I can't wait to watch the other ones on your channel with the Adonis-like Mr. Fairbanks!
The movies are great but the world was not so civilized. From 1914 to 1945 Millions died because men were so civilized and loved war. The movies were an escape from reality.
J C...I will agree with you about the older black & white films; and in my opinion the British films from those years, being so much better than what Hollywood has been putting out for a long time now. I will include the 1950's films as well. But, as Christena Smalls has already explained below, the world was not so civilized as perhaps you would have liked to think. Two World Wars, America's Great Depression that began with the stock market crash of 1929 and didn't really end until December 7, 1941. In the 1930's, the world also went through a serious depression. Adolf Hitler rose to power during the hard times that Germany was going through in the 1930's. One has to look at the smaller picture to find "civilized" people; like the smaller towns & villages throughout the world. It is in these areas where you are going to find more displays of love and compassion and caring for each other than in the large cities. Yes, there are "civilized" people in these large cities, but they do not get the attention and recognition that the criminal element gets. So..."civilized" and loving people are all over the world; they just hardly ever make the news.
Fairbanks was dreamy. Love Valerie Hobson films. * though unbelievable that a thief burglarized a house without wearing gloves and pointing a flashlight ? I believe the love at first sight more, LOL.
When Thief Meets Thief, released UK 5 March 1937 (London), USA 14 June 1937. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. as Ricky Morgan; Valerie Hobson as Glory Howard aka Glory Fane; Alan Hale as Jim Dial aka 'Col. Fane'; Edward Rigby as Sanders; Barbara Everest as Mrs. Nolan; Jack Melford as Thompson; Anthony Ireland as Sir Timothy Haddon; Esme Percy as Robinson; Basil Radford, Defending Counsel; Leo Genn, Prosecuting Counsel; Ian Fleming, Coroner; Frank Birch, Vicar; Roland Culver, BBC Audition; Fred Duprez (Undetermined Role); Henry B. Longhurst (as Henry Longhurst), Police Inspector; Winifred Oughton (as Win Oughton); (Undetermined Role); Cecil Bevan as Cyril; Joan Connor (Undetermined Role); Mary Kerridge (Undetermined Role); Hindle Edgar (Undetermined Role); Herbert Cameron as Chuck; Dorothy Oldfield (Undetermined Role); George Mozart (Undetermined Role); Anita Sharp-Bolster, Cyril's Wife; James Burnett (Undetermined Role); David Horne, Casino Manager.
$5,000 1937 = $100,000, 2022, thereabouts. Beautiful couple. They certainly didn't mince words in those days, surprisingly. - Before the days of censorship in films.
Okay, Douglas as the thief, climbs into her house window, turns on flashlight while she is in the house in bed and opens the safe without wearing gloves? Seen this, no wearing gloves, in many films of 30s and 40s. The film makers never thought of fingerprints? Enjoyed the film very much though, thanks.
What a man...people say that his father was a great actor...it can be so, but Jr is superb! Love so much his performance!!!

The twist in this old story-line is impressive.

He was so good looking. No wonder Joan Crawford married him!
And Basil Rathbone, 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Basil Rathbone's not in this one. Basil Radford - one of my favorite actors - plays the defending counsel.
what is the name of the violin solo Douglas Fairbanks plays ?
