    To see the maestro take flight in the finale is an absolute joy. As for Gustav Mahler, my love for him and his music carries on growing day after day. It will always be so

    What a great musical monument this is, for Bernard Haitink and everyone who played in the Concertgebouw Orchestra at that time in history!
    It was truly a magnificent performance, and the best I have heard of this work.
    Mahler's 7th has always been one of my favourite works of his, and I really believe that Bernard Haitink has created a definitive performance here. I know his 1970 recording very well, and have also liked the Rosbaud and Klemperer recordings, the latter being one of idiosyncratic recreative genius. There are others, of course, but Haitink's way with various tempi show his deep understanding of what this work is really about.

    This performance is epic and spectacular and very rare for 1985 ! This symphony which in itself is so unusual that it has 5 movements and what,s even more rare is that the first movement ends with so much power and emotion, that it,s as great as the finale!!!!!

    • @janouglaeser8049
      @janouglaeser8049 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5 movements isn't that unusual in Mahler. The 2nd, 5th, 7th and 10th symphonies all have five moments, while the 3rd has six(!).

    The bows at the end - the credit Haitink shares with the orchestra - THIS is near the top of the list of reasons why he is so respected (that and the unsurpassed devotion to musicality, of course!).

      I'm sorry to say but Mahler wrote this not for euphonium but for *tenor horn*. That's a big difference!
      I can't understand why there are so many performances of Mahler's Seventh with euphonium instead of tenor horn. It's a very common instrument in German military bands. Nevertheless a great performance!

    ハイティンクのマーラーでは、この時のコンセルトヘボウの演奏が1番ではないか。他の指揮者の演奏と比べても素晴らしい世界を奏でている。異常ではなく、音楽的である。ハイティンクらしい大きなゆったりとした潮流を感じる演奏だ。とにかく音楽が大きく息づいていて、嫌みがない。

    Çok eskiden bir Puro kutusu kapağında bir resim görmüştüm. "Dutch Masters" Mahler senfonileri onların en değerli ustalıkları olmalı. En acemi dinleyiciler bile korkmadan dinleyebilir. Benim gibi . . . NOT : Eser bittikten sonra nedense finaldeki aceleci hareket dışında hiç bir melodiyi hatırlamadığımı fark ettim. Mahler son (6. dan itibaren) senfonilerinde devleşmekle birlikte sıcaklığını yitirdi. Keşke 4. senfoni tarzında gitseydi.
