i have watched more reviews of this bike than i can remember, and not even 1 time i wasnt thinking of not buying this bike. it is amazing. perfect bike , i will keep her forever .
@@XanhDT89 i had solved that problem as well. i bought a led lights and made it legal. so now i have 4 led lights which is perfect. the only thing i noticed since i have the bike, is that the stock seat is really really hard. i have to change it . i cant stand on it more than 1 hour. honestly
Hey buddy, a great review. 👍 About the brakes: If the bike is new, the brakes will need considerable wearing in. This can be unnerving. My Forza, for the first 1500km or so, I had to physically get down and check to see that the brake disks and pads were not actually made of wood. The braking was terrible with no bite or feel. I mentioned this to the shop at the 1000km service, asking if a spacer may have been left in during cartage, or if there was an adjustment that could be made. Thankfully they came good, and now it brakes brilliantly. My bike has a very similar set up, if not exactly the same to this bike with callipers and disk sizes.
I bought my Rebel at 13,000kms and it still felt like that. Swapped the pads out for an EBC HH sintered set. Subsequently realised that my bike has the feature where it flashes the hazards on a hard brake which it had never been able to achieve before 😂
I have a 2018 Rebel and have loved it. It's a great platform for customisation and it's a really involving bike to ride. I've put some Viking bags on it and bar end mirrors and changed the headlight surround. If you want a rev counter you can get a speedo app for your phone and use the 4pin service cable adaptor and a Carista Bluetooth sender to quickly and cheaply show the Revs on your phone. I'll be keeping it for a while.
Lovely bike, great review! Really want to see more A2 specific bike reviews, it is such a niche subject at the moment, but it is a very important subject as the 19-24 year old market is a blooming one at the moment, people getting in to biking are gonna be looking at this bracket! There's a resurgence of young people looking into riding, A2 bikes are the height of the market I think
I wish there were more options in this range for cruisers and standards. As someone who is just out of the A2 range, I don't want to get a 650+ beefy machine to ride (I'm just starting out). I want something that can serve multiple road purposes outside of an in-town commuter.
@@brianosterman456 Try the Honda CB300R. It might only be a one cylinder 300cc but a really good all round motorbike and narrow with short wheel base and good turning circle for filtering and negotiating stopped traffic.
I've been riding for 15yrs, and have owned or ridden almost everything... I want this bike! I hope these sell like hotcakes for Honda! Such a cool bike.
Thanks Dan, an articulate and accurate review. Unfortunately, I had to sell my Rebel 500 after 10 months as it gave me acute 'tennis elbow'. The geometry of the bike meant that the grip and twist position of my hands led to the injury. it's a shame as the bike is excellent and handles better than it should. Stay safe.
@@grumpysquid Hi Never had it before the bike. It took a month of constant riding to get it. It hurt on the bike and off. It took exercises from the doctor and 6 months to get over it. More annoying than debilitating. It might just be me! Dont overthink it. Got an NC750S now....Happy riding.
@@bonzo6787 5'9...but it was the wrist/hand position on the bars, I think. Twisting the throttle and pulling the clutch became painful. However, the new lighter clutch would reduce that and you could always swap the bars.
Finally, a decent review from MCN. Glad you kept the old guys away from this bike as it wouldn’t be powerful enough for their compensatory needs 😉 The weak front brake may be due to a low centre of gravity, a cruiser trait (so therefore “authentic”).
Pretty accurate review, I got this bike and I’m pretty tall, longest I rode was 4 hours (I stopped at a couple places) and for me at least it was comfortable. I do also recommend a test ride if you are tall. (It’s my first bike and I love it so much)
Great review nice bike. He is right though about that sound. You do expect a good growl from a V twin. A cheap manageable practical classic which may be A2 compliant is Honda's CX500. I think with that you get the best of both worlds the comfort of a cruiser but race like machine performance. However bare in mind that the CX is an 80's bike.
Great review of this little bike. I like this lad... He's cool.
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed the video. Ride safe! Dan, MCN.

Same but the headlight performance at night is kind of off putting.

Nice job on the review Dan, well done!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. Ride safe, Dan MCN.
Great motorcycle I have ridden it over 50000 km (2017 model) and it only gets stronger .
by now, I am convinced that my next motorbike will be The REBEL.. Thanks for the review.
Used these to teach on last year. Great bikes.
It's certainly a non-threatening entry to motorcycling! Thanks for watching, Dan MCN.
What do you think about folks who say the feet-forward position is actually NOT safe for new riders?
Valuable review!
While the limited edition model might not be worth 400-500 over the base model, the base model price is pretty nice
Goon on yer young'un. Look forward to more from you.

The brakes should get better with time. Brand new brake plates (even on a car) are tricky in the first few hundred miles. Thanx for the review.
I agree With Marcio here, very pleasant review, clear and informative. cheers mate!

Out of curiosity how was the handle bar positioning comfort wise. Was it okay on the shoulders etc...?
I’m currently looking to upgrade from my Scrambler 125 to a 500 for when I do my A2 License. I fell in love with this bike but i’m 6ft 4 ahahah

Wow never saw that injury coming. Was it a pre existing injury or condition? And did you feel the pain from merely riding around and holding the bars?

Why no belt drive??
Finding it hard to find decent quality UK, smaller cc bikes. Nice to see a review thats not a 200hp 1000cc hyperbikes.
So the cmx is just a honda rebel for international countries?

"compensatory needs" Love it and so damn true.
I'm a happy owner of a Rebel SE. I think you forgot to mention the seats comfort. A little bit hard wouldn't you say?
André Silva agreed, I did 1600km on mine and couldn’t walk the next day 😂
I've enjoyed listening to your review.
Good review well done mate
Awesome review , keep up the good work
Can I go travel 400-700 kilometers on one ride?
Another cracking review Dan 👍

Think the brakes just needed bedding in, they were the same on the cb500f
