  • Seth Godin (@thisissethsblog) is the author of 17 bestselling books that have been translated into more than 35 languages. He writes about the way ideas spread, marketing, strategic quitting, leadership, and - most of all - challenging the status quo in all areas. His books include Linchpin, Tribes, The Dip, Purple Cow, and What to Do When it’s Your Turn (and it’s Always Your Turn).
Seth has founded several companies, including Yoyodyne and Squidoo. His blog (which you can find by typing “Seth” into Google) is one of the most popular in the world. In 2013, Godin was inducted into the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame. Recently, Godin turned the book publishing world on its ear by launching a series of four books via Kickstarter. The campaign reached its goal in just three hours and became the most successful book project in Kickstarter history.
In this episode, we cover dozens of topics and stories, including some he’s never discussed publicly before.

I really appreciate the humour, wit, and insight that oozes out of this podcast! The energy between Tim and Seth is so fluid and you can tell they are on the same page, it's great, and it just seems to reinforce a way of being that is aware, powerful, efficient, and very present. I could definitely listen to this again. Thank you!

I listened to this interview on your website (first one I listened to) and it was SO GREAT that I spent most of the time taking notes. I picked many quotes and ideas. I thought the two hours might be little bit too much, but I guess that gives you time to really dig into some things.
    Thanks for your work!

It's impossible to describe how much I got out of this one interview, it's a repeat listen for me
    My 2 most favourite parts:
33:46 - Chip Conley and the Anthropology room
57:55 - Neil Gaiman, making yourself bored enough to write & dancing with the fear
I'm going to make sure I fail multiple times a day..

Hey Tim...loved this interview so much...I think I'll have to start blogging after listening. I love his take on education and feel that heart rate variability would be such a great addition to his work. i am sure you must be familiar with it. What an interesting man!
The one thing i didn't get from the beginning of the show was why he bothers to make coffee...maybe it's the smell or he did say later he could make it for his guest..and why the oatmeal vodka. He doesn't drink it.
Loved his take on the internet, tv and money...not to mention all the great book ideas.
Thanks for another great one....you rock!!!!

It was enlightening to hear what Seth thinks about children's education in 1:34m-1:37m. Seth points that parents need to decide how their kids have to learn useful stuff, most importantly teaching them how to lead and solve interesting problems. This is because we can't compete with other countries that teach kids how to be obedient e.g. memorizing. Plus, famous colleagues don't work anymore.

For the sake of simplicity; the 'podcast' is the audio file you upload on platforms like iTunes, and the 'video' is the file you upload on youtube.
    Now to the point:
There's a gap between the upload time of the podcast and the video. That's a smart way to prioritize the growth of the podcast. So the latter has the advantage of being first, and youtube's channel has the advantage of... not much; it's just an extra platform. TH-cam is the black duck that comes last, and it's already missing the most unique aspect of it, the visual. This black duck quacks- has audio, but it just looks totally off (no video). It's fine for the video to be uploaded late, but you can give it it's real color and uniqueness.
Tim, I'm one of the die-hard 1k, and trust me I would have no problem listening to the podcast on time- as I always do, and watching the video on youtube the following week. Each one of them is unique in it's own way. One delivers the information quickly, and the other is enjoyable and much more relatable.
    Needless to say, great interview.
