Great product - will get one as soon as I figure a way to mount my three dashes in front of the Monitor as well. But for sure makes all the difference . The wheel looks like it’s coming right out of the screen!
Saw it, bought it (not cheap, but hey), installed it on my DD2. Tolerances are very tight, so installing wasn`t as easy and took some WD40, but that`s a good thing! Solved my problem of the wheel not being at the right distance from the middle monitor, now it is and I love it. Black anodization would have been nice, but who cares behind the wheel. So, well done, thank you T.S.
Fanatec tolerances vary, so sometimes it's a bit tighter than in other cases. This is why people are reporting problems with QR, sometimes a wheel is tight and some times it's loose. I tested on mine and it's tight but goes in easily with hand. Other customers reported perfect fit but I'm glad you gave us your feedback!
Well, the point is to use the original dash screen of the driven car and align it perfectly with the wheel. The dash screen could be on the wheel it self.
For the correct screen position I've always be under the impression my eyes needed to align with the center of the screens, so having the screens lower makes the horizon to low. Well this is true for my 27" triples.
How long is the extension? Granite devices recommend going for very short extensions, due to the forces applied. Would these extensions risk my wheelbase motor? (dd2 user) Will it also void my warranty? I think these are "nice to have", but you said its "needed" to get "monitors as low as possible" for "perfect fov" which is not 100% correct. This depends on who's driving it, how tall is the driver, and how is he sitting. Some people do not need it at all. I would "like to have it", to optimize my rig. But Im afraid to fuck up my wheelbase. My friend who is somewhat taller, does not need it at all.
Actually incorrect. If you have the wheel at the perfect height you need your seat also at the correct height but the issue with that is then you can get the screens eye level. Yes you can do it but that would mean your wheel base angle and height is not correct the only way to get the 1:1 mathematical FOV how it would look and measure in real life you need the screens in front of the motor and low
Would the grub screws on the simucube scratch up all the motor rod? And would they void warranty also what if you run high torque how would this work wouldn't the extension come lose over time or in the middle of a race. I can't see how 6 grub screws would hold the extention tight without it coming lose all the time? All questions no criticism and thank you for bring a new product tp market but if you could answer some of my questions that would be great. Cheers
No to all your questions. You can't really scratch a hardened steel axle with a flat bottomed screw designed not to scratch stuff. It can't come loose as it did not for almost a year of daily use. It can't void varanty as this is considered normal use and it is fully reversible if needed.
@@T.S.CUSTOM what is the maximum size you make. I'm looking for one 200mm long would you be able to make that length? Also do you make it for the simucube Quick release?
Hi, great video but wouldn't that void the Simucube warranty? You are screwing these hex screws directly to the shaft of the motor? Usual Simucube extension like the Simracingbay use the clamp that comes with the motor itself.
By scratching all the motor column also what about people running high torque with only grub screws. Simcore and simlabs make extensions up to 200mm so I don't see the point. Unless it's cheap
All wheel base extensions should be mounted with a roller bearing collar. Professional sim-rigs put the wheel base further away but have supports for the shaft. Anything over 30mm needs support. I suspect the problems with your DD2 are because of the extra leverage on the motor supports inside.
What kind of connector is it inside of the Fanatec base? My first thought was PCI-e but they are to big. Can´t find anything about it. Would really appreciate your help. Thanks :)
I doubt it. That base has a plastic shaft that is cracking even without aded leverage of the extended axle. It might be done with additional bearing support but that would make it pretty expensive. Fanatec really messed up with that plastic shaft.
You will read of many people having issues with extensions which are not supported with a roller bearing as it would be in a commercial setup for DD1/2 with an extension. (For example in a mock F1 chassis.) There is a good video which covers this issue. th-cam.com/video/YqrddCflgo4/w-d-xo.html
I have triple monitor setup with the centre monitor between the dd1 base and the wheel rim without this extension. th-cam.com/video/TdCwVVlfjjE/w-d-xo.html The gap is big enough that I've never touched the monitor even once..i can't actually reach it with my fingers at all. Seems pretty perfect to me. Monitor is 700 from my eyes.. i don't understand why you need this? I'm interested but I'm not understanding why you need to move the wheel base so far back. The closer the monitors the wider fov you run really

Just fitted mine to the rig and it’s fantastic. Easy enough to install, most of the effort was in repositioning the wheel base 😂 Thanks

Wish I saw this before I purchased the CSL DD8 -- any chance you will make an extension for the CSL DD?
Yes, we are working on it now.
Love it! The only Con I see is there’s no option for a dash screen. Or is there?
Well, the point is to use the original dash screen of the driven car and align it perfectly with the wheel. The dash screen could be on the wheel it self.
For the correct screen position I've always be under the impression my eyes needed to align with the center of the screens, so having the screens lower makes the horizon to low. Well this is true for my 27" triples.
In that case you just need to get your seat lower or you screen pedals and wheel rim higher. In racing ergonomics milimeters matter.
Amazing pièce of engenier 😲
Is there any chance that it's work for a cws 2.5 fanatec base ?
No, sorry. Diferent kind of design approach for the base.
I wish I had a rig like you have, it's getting better each time.
How is the boat working out, the water cooling works as designed?
Thanks!
All good, working as planned. I don't have to worry about temperatures at all.
I love it! So now the question is, how much and how/where we can purchase?
Great work!!

No problems with well over 100 pieces sold and in use. The stress to the shaft is calculated, no need for the additional bearing for DD1, DD2.

Molex MicroFit 3.0 mate. :)
How are you getting power to and data from the Fanatec wheel on Simucube base?
Extensions look great otherwise. 👍
I don't. Either convert a wheel to Bluetooth or use SRM to convert fanatec rims to usb.
Will you make on for the CSL DD/GT DD PRO?
I will try to get one of those and see if it could be done.
Do you have extension for DD Pro?
We are working on it right now.

@@T.S.CUSTOM yeah I thought that would be the case . I’m looking to upgrade anyway to either the DD1 or Simucube 2 which would you recommend?
Simucube all the way.

No, I tried but it has plastic shaft which makes this mod to dangerous as it could break.
Does it work with the CSL DD
