    There's a free remake of the Super Angelo game here, but it's not the same as the original DOS version: www.wieringsoftware.nl/flash/angelo/

      That game, its windows port, a sequel and an "expansion pack" are also on Steam:

      You know what I noticed? The Piranha Plant in Mario & Luigi doesn't look like a Mario style one, but the Piranha Plant in Super Angelo does. It feels backwards.

    If you purchase the registration key for Charlie the Duck, you can use the same key for Super Angelo and it will unlock the full version.

    • @HiroPlaysGames
      @HiroPlaysGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Just make sure you get Charlie the Duck 1, not 2... Charlie 2 uses a different registration system.

    • @MagnumForce51
      @MagnumForce51 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure you can do that these days. Does the Steam copy's DOSBOX version come with registration key? I'd consider buying Charlie from Steam if that's the case so I can also have this one. It doesn't appear he sells the registration codes for the MSDOS version Charlie the Duck anymore now that it's on Steam/Android. :(

    According to your words, I played the Beta version of Mario & Luigi as a kid and that game.
    My parents bought a 3.5" floppy diskette that had "Super Mario Land" and some infos written on it when we went to a flea market.
    The version on that diskette only featured four levels and would exit to DOS automatically once finished.
    No start screen or options either, Level 1-1 started right away once MARIO.EXE was executed.
    Honestly, the difficulty isn't all that given but it was still enough to give 5-7 years old me a good challenge which is why I still play the game with a smile in DOSBox every once in a while 😀

    Ahahaha, I remember playing Mario and Luigi a lot back then in the Compaq Presario PCs of my school that had Windows 95 when I was a kid. I also remember checking the computer lab afterschool and playing other stuff like Doom 2, Heretic and Moto Racer. The teacher in charge of that classroom was great, he would let us play as much we wanted as long we deleted the files from the computers before going back home. What a great lad.

    20 years ago, I actually had a DOS version of Super Mario Bros. I have no idea who programmed it and I have not seen it since. I don't think it was the full game. It lacked a title screen and I remember the stages were truncated compared to the NES original. The sound effects used the onboard motherboard for sounds, which sounded like crap. No sound came out of the computer speakers. I've been looking for it and figured it might be on your channel, but no luck I guess. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that it actually existed.

    5:01 I had this game for DOS back in 1995, but it wasn't called Mario&Luigi, but just "Mario!" (with an exclamation). It was a single 64K EXE file, which is pretty impressive. This version in the video seems to be the final version with title screen (the version I played was the beta that the video talks about, which started directly in Level 1 after running the EXE, and in the 3rd or 4th level Mario entered an infinite empty room, which you couldn't get out of, so the game couldn't be finished), but even though this version in the video has Luigi in the title, it doesn't seem to feature Luigi anyway, does it?

    Two thoughts about the second game, "Kid"
    First, the attack you couldn't identify, I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be the author's own take on the Hadouken from Street Fighter II.
    Second... is it just me or does the Kid's in-game sprite look a lot like the kid from I Wanna Be the Guy? Is this by the same developer?

    • @LYB4

      they aren't by the same developer (with Kid being developed by Stephan Vogler and IWBTG being developed by Michael "Kayin" O'Reilly) but it's very possible that IWBTG took inspiration from Kid considering the nature of IWBTG

      They now have a policy of not flagging any content with their games as long as it falls into youtubes TOU as transformative.
      Basically they just let TH-cam decide, because the publicity of Nintendo games is a net plus. Just took them a decade to figure that out
