I made the decision to have laser hair removal in most of that area, and lemme tell you guys, IT WAS A GAME CHANGER. I had this procedure done about 10 years ago, and to this day, the area is still hair-free (save for occasional strays which are much finer in texture, and do not result in any bumps or rash when I swipe them with a razor every couple of weeks). Highly, highly recommended, and just a gift to my skin that keeps on giving.

I get bumps on my legs, especially on the backs where the hair grows in different directions. I have super sensitive skin and very coarse hair and of course I’m SUPER hairy so unfortunately not shaving is not an option for me if I want to wear shorts or skirts without being stared at in public (at least in the US, I know not everyone everywhere has the same beauty standards). 😢
Thank you so much for these tips, Dr. Dray. I wonder if you could do a review of the bleame crystal sometime? I just got one and while my hair grows back super fast, i don't suffer from itch and ingrown hairs - at least not yet
Love your channel! Can you do a video regarding all the hair growth serums out in the market today, especially Vegamour? Are they legit or do they cause harm? Thanks so much ❤
Can you please test the new Paula's choice "Healthy Glow Invisible Sunscreen Oil"! I've never seen an SPF made in oil form before I'm excited to see if it's good or not.
Dr Dray, you are awesome. Im dealing with this and the dermatology department will only view pictures and not see me in person. I asked if an IPL like Kenzzi would be helpful but I get no response. I can not live with hairy legs. They are out of control.
Kenzi has worked for me. Takes a long time and doesn’t remove all hair but cuts it down a lot. I think it would be worth saving up for laser hair removal but since I can’t afford that now the at home IPL has been awesome.
Any idea why waxing still causes shave bumps? I get them in my bikini area and inner and back of my thigh. I always exfoliate a day or two before hand, and then I start exfoliating again with a chemical exfoliant probably four days after I get it done.
Use an aha/ bha acne serum and use right after shaving. Also before getting out of shower and right after shaving, use a salicylic acid or benzoyl perioxde wash and leave on for at least 3 minutes.
Do you think you'd ever do videos on beard care? There's a lot of confusion with beard products and properly moisturizing the skin underneath the beard without making your beard greasy. For example, virtually all beard channels will say "beard oil is to moisturize your skin," despite them being pretty much 100% emollient with no occlusive and no humectant. I'm sure your audience is mostly women, but I'm sure many of them have boyfriends/husbands with beards, fathers, brothers, etc., and it could help with gifts.
My hair is so thicker and coarse. I don't shave much it irritates my skin so much. I wax my lip. I need to do laser. The razor bumps are awful on my bikini line. So i don't shave it. Itchy scratchy. Im looking forward seeing the waxing video you put up next. Thank you. I enjoy your videos 😍
Screw Laser hair removal. It’s a scam in my opinion. One it is NOT a permanent hair removal system and two it can make hair growth even worse depending on your genes which is a very common negative side effect of laser hair removal. I do what’s called electrolysis and it is the ONLY actual permanent hair removal technique and is much cheaper than laser hair removal. Please look into electrolysis instead of laser treatment. I got a bbl facial laser for rosacea on my face and it caused what is called paradoxical hypertrichosis, as I mentioned laser hair removal can do the same exact thing 😩. I ended up doing the electrolysis because it is permanent and won’t cause more hair growth like lasers do. After only two treatments on my face I’m happy with my results. I never had thick dark hair growth on my face until I got laser done on my face for rosacea, it was horrible and embarrassing because it caused so much dark thick hair on my face
I'm naturally blonde so I've been told I can't do later hair removal. Would Nair work? Can I use it on the bikini area? Thanks for another great video!

What are your thoughts on shave creams/butters? Which ones would you recommend? I’ve heard that using pure shea butter is the best way, but I don’t remember where I heard that.
Excellent case presentation, self treatment options and when to consult a dermatologist. I also appreciate your not endorsing any particular product. Thank you for your professional advice.
I have two bumps that have never gone away - one on my chin and one on my leg - I showed the one on my leg to my dermatologist and he said he couldn't do anything about it and if he tried to remove it the scar would look worse....
@DrDrayzday - I am very concerned about using mineral sunscreen around my eyes. I read a study online that said Zinc oxide can cause retinopathy... i wanted to use Zinc since it doesn't burn, but I don't want to lose my vision from sunscreen.
Vaniqa has been discontinued 😢. I'm past menopause and I'm left with course blond hairs that become ingrown. This leads to cysts on my chin. Vaniqa works but has been discontinued (My pharmacy and dermatologist said the manufacturer can't get the active ingredient). With blond hair what to do?? Thank you.
Hi Dr Dray, I always thought it was a myth that you could train your hair follicle to grow a different direction, is this possible for head hair in the case of a cowlick?
I have learned so much from your channel.Thank you so much! My question is my legs are a mess after I shave. I have tried everything that I know of. What is the difference between razor bumps and Keratosis pilaris? I am so confused! 🙃
Dr Dray, excuse me to deviate from the subject to make a wish? Could you make a video about the double cleansing, products and bad/good ingredients? I'm concerned with comedogenic scales I find in the oil cleansers, like Ethylhexyl Palmitate in Hada Lado one. Thank you!
@drdray I get irritation and itchiness. Unfortunately my hair starts grows the very next day and even when I shave it looks like strawberry skin. I am also allergic to metal so it may be giving me rashes and itchiness from that. What would be the best method to remove hair? I can’t afford lasik removal. Shaving is a discomfort for me 🙁

Because like Doctor Andrea suggested i saved according to the direction of the hair so the problem cut it self there 😅. It waa really enjoying ❤.
So I like cetaphil, I have the daily facial cleanser, the salicylic gentle clear face wash, and a few days ago I i bought the gentle clear daily scrub… I’ve never had a problem with any other products they have, but when I use the scrub, it burns. But it’s only on my cheeks and not my neck which is my most troubled area. Do you think Im just having a a reaction to the ingredients in scrub, or is it normal and mean it’s doing what it should? Should I stop using it? This is just literally the only time my skin has ever had a burning sensation after anything I’ve put on my face
the 10 Commandments for Preventing Razor Bumps & Ingrown Hairs 1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES! Avoid shaving with dull, over-used razor blades. And be sure to keep your slightly used tools as clean as possible. Scrub the cutting heads of your tools with soap, hot water, and rubbing alcohol to destroy bacteria. Pro Tip: even brand new blades still need to be cleaned. 2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN! Avoid too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown. Plus, more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter and this leads to razor burn. 3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN! Wash or steam the skin for 2 to 3 minutes with warm water. Then apply the shaving cream leaving it on for at least 2 minutes to really soften the hair. 4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! Shaving against the grain (upwards) may get you a closer shave but doing so also increases ingrowns. Shave in the direction of hair growth…it’s usually downwards. Confirm this by doing a face/ body inspection to see which way your hair grows. 5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS! Avoid pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. If you follow STEP #3, then a gliding, light touch is all you need. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure from the blade. Pressing hard is the main cause of shaving irritation! Be gentle so as to prevent the hair from being cut so low that it falls beneath the top layer of skin. 6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS! Avoid too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like you’re mowing the front lawn. 7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING! Avoid shaving too often. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to be beardless for your job…but if you are prone to ingrowns, try hair removal with electric clippers (the barber kind of clippers). The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Provided your skin can handle these alternatives try waxing, depilatory, lasering or an epilator. 8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG! Avoid using skin/pore clogging creams or lotions since they keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave. If your objective is smooth, bump-free skin following a shave or wax, then right after hair removal allow the skin to heal first. Promote healing by proper shaving techniques followed by 70% rubbing alcohol which kills any bacteria that may enter those micro cuts created from the shave and prevents the onset of razor burn. Sure your skin will be a little dry at first but this is a temporary tradeoff. Wait 2 hours then moisturize. 9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE! At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to grow up. 10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE! Whether you shave, sugar, wax or epilate, not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin can lead to ingrown hairs. There are two types: chemical exfoliation (AHA, BHAs) and physical exfoliation (beads, coffee scrubs, gloves, brushes). Physical exfoliators like the WIZKER brush have soft and firm bristles for the face, body, and sensitive skin. When you follow these 10 tips religiously, you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently!
Hey Dr. Dray, I get mild ingrown hair under the chin and in other areas but it's not that bad. However, when I try to shave my legs, no matter how much prep I do (and I've done a lot) I always get terrible rashes and a lot of ingrowns. What are your thoughts on waxing?
Lol if I shaved in the direction of my hair growth no hairs would be shaved. I’m hairy and I’ve always had to shave in the opposite direction of hair growth or I’m hairy by night time. My hair grows fast as well and I need to get super close to my skin with the razor. My Scottish/Irish/British hair kinda sucks 😂 Luckily I’ve never had skin irritations for shaving so that’s a plus ❤
Dr Dray I have had multiple laser hair removal sessions but they just don’t seem to work for me. I’m very light and my hair is dark but these sessions have still not reduced the amount of hair I have on my face. Do I have to try out other places with maybe stronger machines?

Hey doc ! I am a person with oily skin dealing with acne and scaring , I've been prescribed by two topicals ( epiduo and tretinoin ) i use one in am and another in pm so do i have to wash my face every time before and after applying these topicals ? So technically I'm washing my face four times a day is it okay ?
I don’t think you’re supposed to wash your face after applying those products. I use tretinoin and do not do that. I’m not sure about epiduo but for tretinoin you wash your face, dry it thoroughly, apply the tretinoin, and then apply moisturizer. That’s it!

Happy Wednesday!! Please Enjoy Your Day!😊
Could you talk about HS? Diet and hygienic care of it to avoid flareups??
I get bumps on my legs, especially on the backs where the hair grows in different directions. I have super sensitive skin and very coarse hair and of course I’m SUPER hairy so unfortunately not shaving is not an option for me if I want to wear shorts or skirts without being stared at in public (at least in the US, I know not everyone everywhere has the same beauty standards). 😢
And don’t even get me started on the bikini line. There’s a reason I only wear board short style swimsuit bottoms.
Thanks so much ❤
She has a recent short on hair loss serums, stop wasting $ on hair loss serums.
Hi Dr. Dray ❤!
Happy wednesday to you and to everybody!...
Best wishes from 🇵🇹🇪🇺💖!
Morning!
Thank You So Much!! Best Wishes yo You Too!🤗🖐
Can you please test the new Paula's choice "Healthy Glow Invisible Sunscreen Oil"! I've never seen an SPF made in oil form before I'm excited to see if it's good or not.
I was looking for this ! Thank you so much🙏🏼
Dr Dray, you are awesome.
Happy Wednesday, Dr. Dray ❤
Morning!
Thank you for all the wonderful advice. What are your thoughts on an alcohol based after shave ?
Heavenly Info. Thanks Ma'am.
I honestly gave up and am saving for laser and electrolysis
Any idea why waxing still causes shave bumps? I get them in my bikini area and inner and back of my thigh. I always exfoliate a day or two before hand, and then I start exfoliating again with a chemical exfoliant probably four days after I get it done.
Use an aha/ bha acne serum and use right after shaving. Also before getting out of shower and right after shaving, use a salicylic acid or benzoyl perioxde wash and leave on for at least 3 minutes.
I would stop exfoliation at least 5 days before the wax.
@@anikajoy5739 Hmmm. I was told to exfoliate around two days before.
have a great Wednesday guys xo
Happy Wednesday

Good Information. Thanks Doctor.
I’m not sure if you are still in Texas, but HEB has an entire collection released on sunscreens. They also have aftersun items as well have you checked them out?
Wonderful Information Dr. Dray!! I Haven't had this Problem, but I Sure can See how it Can be a Problem for Sure!! Happy Wednesday, Please have a Beautiful Day!! Love and Blessings!!🙏💕🌹💕🙏

Hi Dr. Dray! Do you have any thoughts on a shave soap vs shaving cream/gel?
Aaslam u Aalikum peace be upon you Andrea sister hope you and your family are doing well.Happy
Tuesday 🥰
. It's fine to use at night a tyrosinase Inhibitors serum that has Octinoxate and Titanium Dioxide the product works amazing for dark spots
Yes, if tolerated
What are your thoughts on shave creams/butters? Which ones would you recommend? I’ve heard that using pure shea butter is the best way, but I don’t remember where I heard that.
It is a matter of personal preference. The important thing is to have a lubricating barrier
Dr Dray I bet there’s a lot of people who would be interested in a video about cream hair removal : veet, Nair, SoftSheen-Carson Magic…😊
Thank you for the information!
can we use rubbing alcohol 70% on face after shaving then a very hydrating moisturizer?
Excellent case presentation, self treatment options and when to consult a dermatologist. I also appreciate your not endorsing any particular product. Thank you for your professional advice.
I have two bumps that have never gone away - one on my chin and one on my leg - I showed the one on my leg to my dermatologist and he said he couldn't do anything about it and if he tried to remove it the scar would look worse....
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x💙🤩
Happy Wednesday!
You too!!
😃👍 super helpful content, thank you. Consistent knowledge, kindness and positivity radiates from you, everyday, it’s remarkable.
Is it good if I use bepanthen?
Being shaving my armpits pretty much every day since I was 16 years old, now I'm 31, never had any ingrown hair or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Thank you.
Omg Beware of the BILLIE!! Wow 1st time using bumps galore! Veryyyy sharp brand new next to venus razors!!🤪💖
Hi Dr Dray, I always thought it was a myth that you could train your hair follicle to grow a different direction, is this possible for head hair in the case of a cowlick?
Great video and I love that necklace!
How dare a work emergency keep me from my Dr. Dray? Oh...right... they pay me...
Thank you!
I have ben doing this for a while now because i shave my bikini area and armpit too and hate ingrown hair and razor bump
They are not fun to cope with
@drdray I get irritation and itchiness. Unfortunately my hair starts grows the very next day and even when I shave it looks like strawberry skin. I am also allergic to metal so it may be giving me rashes and itchiness from that. What would be the best method to remove hair? I can’t afford lasik removal. Shaving is a discomfort for me 🙁
After many years...finally found a good shaving cream...EOS shave butter ❤❤❤.leaves skin so soft...also men's razors are better than women's and less expensive 😂😂🤷♀️

And how is it possible that I’ve been doing literally everything wrong!!!
What are your thoughts about the moisturizer and hair inhibitor?
Good morning Miss Andrea seeing today's video reminded me my army days had a lot of problem with face hair but fortunately it resolved without scarring 😊❤. Why ?
This is just literally the only time my skin has ever had a burning sensation after anything I’ve put on my face
the 10 Commandments for Preventing Razor Bumps & Ingrown Hairs
Cute dress. Great video!

Wow, this is so weird, your video came out right as I’ve been searching everywhere how to figure out how to get rid of my red dots from shaving - they turn into black dots when I get spray tans 😢😢 thank you!!
Hey doc !
I am a person with oily skin dealing with acne and scaring , I've been prescribed by two topicals ( epiduo and tretinoin ) i use one in am and another in pm so do i have to wash my face every time before and after applying these topicals ? So technically I'm washing my face four times a day is it okay ?
Washing your face 4 times a day might dry your skin out especially while using those topicals
Why are you washing after application?
I don’t think you’re supposed to wash your face after applying those products. I use tretinoin and do not do that. I’m not sure about epiduo but for tretinoin you wash your face, dry it thoroughly, apply the tretinoin, and then apply moisturizer. That’s it!
@@elizahope456 ohh sorry I forgot we wash it only the next day right
Dr Dray! Sorry for the personal question but i miss your mom 🥺: when is she going back on vlogs? 🥺
I don't think ever. She never mentions her or acknowledged comments about her mom. I hope she is alright.
perhaps she moved to another city
@@SueRosalie She had cancer, so maybe things didn't go well which would be awful. Otherwise I think Dr dray would just say her mom moved to a different city, rather than ignore all the comments.
