Carlos Santana played with Wayne Shorter on Santana's project "The Swing of Delight," circa 1973-74. Since Santana's collaboration with Mahavishnu John McLaughlin on "Love Devotion and Surrender," his venture into jazz and Fusion was locked in, also his love for Miles Davis and his alumni John Coltrane grew exponentially; Santana did an album with Alice Coltrane that is definitely transcendent. Santana did have an opportunity to play with Miles, however they didn't have a studio opportunity, but he did with John McLaughlin several times. I can't emphasize enough the influence Miles Davis has had on Carlos Santana.

My friend, you are in for an incredible treat and revelation!
Carlos and Miles did in fact record a record together.
It is with an artist/ composer/ keyboard player named "Paolo Rusticelli" who approached Miles at one of his shows and presented some of his music. Miles liked it and agreed to record 2 albums with him!
The first is "Mystic Jazz" which includes Herbie Hancock and Wayne; with one track: Full Moon with Santana.
The next is "Mystic Man" where Miles and Carlos really meld together, it's outstanding.
So you see ,there is this amazing little secret that I guess not many, like yourself know about.
      Spread the word.
      Beautiful, gorgeous music 🎶

I was in Helsinki Finland many years ago late 70’s I believe. Visiting with my wife’s family to my surprise The Machito Orchestra was playing in a Jazz club with Mario Bauza and Graciela and a percussionist named Patato pretty incredible They literally had the audience dancing on the tables. Being so far from home and hearing this Afro Cuban jazz music I felt at home in NYC. I got such a thrill from seeing the Finns dancing and loving our music. I knew then how much of a unifying force music can be . Will never forget it …

Thank you Jari for posting this revelation. Hadn't known about this worldwide tour in '88 of Carlos and Wayne with these fine musicians. Sublime, subliminal in it's openness and positive, meditative vibrations.
That year I saw Carlos play in Oakland, CA, in one concert, with about 4-5 different groupings in his Benefit for El Salvador at the Kaiser Arena. He started with the Caribbean AllStars, and after The Tubes and Tower of Power did separate sets, he played a modal jazz set with Wayne Shorter, and Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. Fabulous! Then there was Bonnie Raitt and NRBQ, and then an encore with nearly everybody back on stage that included "Shake, Rattle and Roll". My best concert ever! Still have the program on which I wrote the songs played that night. Someday I'll find video from the Benefit for Salvador at the Kaiser Arena in 1988... If anyone reading this knows of a source, please contact me!

Carlos said that with the pandemic, that he has worked on three albums! That he intends to strike a balance between vocal albums with instrumental albums. So, keep the faith and expect some music along these lines!
    Truly a blessed line-up here.

      "Music is nothing"?
      "Prove otherwise"?
What is wrong? Why are you here if you think so?
Very strange. One of the most bizzare things I've ever encountered.
I have nothing to prove, and I have nothing to say about what you choose.
I hope you find what you're looking for, if you are.

I was honoured to see this magnificent group play in London around this time. Standout performers for me were Chepito - he always was, whenever I saw him play - [the BRILLIANT] CT and Patrice as she was so unexpected: Wayne seemed to spend the whole show messing around with the mouthpiece on his sax, huge disappointment but he was the same when I saw Weather Report some years earlier. tbh not sure what Miles saw in him... But a really enjoyable show all the same. EDIT: thank you Jari for sharing this 💥💥
