Every time I left a Santana show I felt like I was walking three feet above the ground, which is the effect Carlos wanted to achieve. I've literally listened to hundreds of hours, maybe thousands of hours, for at least forty years, of his music, Quality-wise and inspirationally mama this is the greatest thing I've seen on video for sure. it's becoming my favorite clip." Lotus" is still my favorite of all time. I've maintained a copy since 1977. Carlos loves Wayne Shorter, and Miles and Jimi,.. and is certainly thrilled to have Mr. Shorter on stage, sounding a lot like the Trane.. Carlos really shows an admiration and appreciation for all of them.
I never knew the jazzy side of C. Santana. This keysection with Chester and Patrice is so unique!!! Actually the whole band is, so much soulfull, physical, spiritual, natural warmth and talent!
@yassveena Checkout Caravanseri, Barboleta ,Welcome and a project with Herbie Hancock and friends called Giants . Masterful Jazz and fusion music. The great thing about the Santana Band is that they’re into interpreting all musical genres. The unique thing is that they do it very well ….
I saw them at London Jazz Festival, probably around the same time. I don’t think I fully appreciated how good they were, but I was a fan of Santana since 1970 so I had to see him.
Also, there is José "Chepito" Octavio on percussion. Killer band. Never knew of it because you know I would have driven to see this lineup! Saw Patrice and Ndugu play as a duo in the 80s. They were incredible.
@@jackduane5026 Yep, I have his autograph from 1972, Meriwether Post Pavilion: José Areas José Octavio "Chepito" Areas Dávila (born 25 July 1946) is a Nicaraguan percussionist best known for having played timbales and Conga drums in the Latin rock group Santana in 1969-1977 and 1987-1989. So very 👍 WOW! EACH PERFORMER GIVES A GREAT PERFORMANCE, AND EVERYONE BLENDS IN CREATING A FABULOUS PERFORMANCE!! THANK YOU! ILIANA BORN SANE YEAR AS SANTANA WHO DREW ME CHECK OUT THIS BAND💖
Thank you for your comment! The rest of the concert will be upload in parts the following days (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), you will find the collection after all the videos have been published in this playlist: goo.gl/38jhpV :)
I always felt Alfonso ,Perazza, Vilato , Raul Rekow and Graham Lear the great were arguably one of the greatest rhythm sections ever assembled on a band
Loft Music i love your 'Klaviersommer'-Concerts! I'm from munic but - shame on me - seldom went to Philharmonie, the more i'm glad to close that gap somehow now! Thanx a lot!!!
What a treat to see that regal line-up including Armando Peraza. I'm wondering why I can't hear Armando's congas until way into the song, and then only slightly? I see his hands but I don't hear the congas. Ditto Chepito.
For the last 50 years I love Santana music, especially Carlos' guitar playing. But what to think about him as a person I've always found confusing. He ALWAYS expresses himself in spiritual language and metaphores and portrays himself as sereen, zen and gentle. But I think he has a bit of a temper and loses his cool easily. I've seen several live video's in which he clearly gets really pissed off when something doesnt go exactly the way it should.....which will always happen when preforming live, even to the best. In this video @ 6:09 it looks like Carlos got pissed off , and @ 6:32 again.
I think he's telling the saxophone that he's too loud, or he's telling the sound board technicians that his guitar is too loud.. I think? I could be wrong tho 😂
Exactly. Carlos would like to be a jazz musician but he’s not. I saw him play with Herbie Hancock and it was like he was throwing darts at a dartboard hoping to hit a right note. You take him out of his comfort zone and he’s lost. Within the Santana Band, he’s a guitar God!
@@tonyvincent9753 As I already explained when you are admired by musicians like Shorter, Clapton, Hendrix, Metheny, Prince, McLaughlin, Corea, Watanabe, Hancock and a genius like Miles Davis, they like your music and you have shared the stage , play with all of them, so the negative criticism of others does not matter, Mr. Carlos Santana ... Thank you
Clearly, the luminaries who have praised and played with him over the last half century do not share your opinion of Santana's musicality. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but why contaminate others' enjoyment, and why presume that your aesthetic judgment outclasses Miles, Wayne, Herbie, Zawinul, McLaughlin or dozens of others? I've listened to your noodles; have they?

the greatest rock tune of all time reduced to a rambling slop of smug fusion.... santana and weather report are two of my favorite bands but this is not the rendition
RIP Wayne and Armando. Sorely missed, both.
omg patrice looks so young...i love her playing
Miles Davis called this number the best rock jam he ever heard
Enjoy, they don't make them like they used to. The 80's was a fantastic time..

Unique is the word😅 joy is the sound.
I worship the music of Carlos and of Wayne, and this ensamble with Alphonso is way too special. A great night for all!
Awesome arrangement of musical talent, fused so well, slow, fast, salsa, blues, jazz.....love Santana with sax genius
Wow! He throws in some John Coltrane in on this song as well!
I saw them at London Jazz Festival, probably around the same time. I don’t think I fully appreciated how good they were, but I was a fan of Santana since 1970 so I had to see him.
A true all star lineup for a classic composition!
Wow. Such a pleasant surprise to find this version. Much love to all that share my feelings.x
The best version, in my opinion!
Chester's a Monstrosity, holy music...........................
Love that sound. And Patrice ❤ awesome organ solo. Very Santana. Everything fused. ❤
All musical genius legends here
Patrice Rushen makes this song precious one.
Keyboard deluxe Patrice
Also, there is José "Chepito" Octavio on percussion. Killer band. Never knew of it because you know I would have driven to see this lineup!
Saw Patrice and Ndugu play as a duo in the 80s. They were incredible.
=> Also, there is José "Chepito" ¡!
And of course Armando who was discovered by Carlos playing on the sidewalks of San Francisco that is a killer band and so freaking tight on this night
Arias
Claro, Chepito, qué mal esta omisión

WOW -
Slightly misnomered - this is The Santana Shorter Band that did one sublime tour! I was at the first show at Carlos' invitation.
Clearly Wayne's solo is the highlight. But overall much prefer the original version.
Chepito is on Timbales!
S A N T A N A only * * * * * !💯
Also José Octavio "Chepito" percussion?
There's one more percussionist -- who is that? Is it Chepito?

E Wayne cita “Arrivederci” di Umberto Bindi all’inizio del secondo solo!
Chester Thompson un caballo
Jose Areas en timbales...
Guess the soundman decided it would be a good time to use the restroom during the keyboardist solo.
you forgot Chepito !
What is Carlos upset about?
I think he's telling the saxophone that he's too loud, or he's telling the sound board technicians that his guitar is too loud.. I think? I could be wrong tho 😂
i love this tune and a huge admirer of Wayne Shorter, but this version is just a mess

Peccato per quegli insopportabili suoni elettronici anni Ottanta

that's a really poor version.
It's certainly not great
grande assolo di Shorter!
Great video, thank you for uploading.
