  • My first impressions of the ‪@chrisreeveknives7828‬ Large Sebenza 31 Box Elder. Is there enough here to make a statement among the plethora of knives hitting the market today?

    The Sebenza has been in production for 32 years now, thats why it was named the 31 on its release. none of the handles are stone washed, theyre either sand blasted/ glass blasted or polished. What you read that said stonewashed mustve been referring to the blade (as well as the frame lock Chris Reeve was the first to come up with stone washing too btw). Nice to see some really worn in CRKs! and very sexy box elder mate

    Great job, young man! I own four CRK's and I've watched everything on CRK's. You did a great job of explaining the brand and the quality. Yes, there are more quality knife brands than ever before (God bless the free market), but it took Chris Reeve to do it and the market (you and me) to see it. Thanks Chris and thank you!

    Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too man. I was shocked how much I enjoy my 31 box elder. Just the right Sebenza for me.

      I have to agree! This really impressed me and I thought I was beyond that point because there are just so many knives out there doing some really innovative stuff! And yet the simplicity of the 31 continues to wow me!

    I have a large sebenza 21 in s35vn, sebenza 31 large ins s35vn, a large sebenza 31 macasar ebony with s45vn (carry daily in pouch left pocket for nearly 1.75 years) and a brand new insingo SMALL sebenza 31 with black Micarta inlay-- this little guy I’m barely breaking in!
    Love your selection!

      I honestly didn’t notice a difference in real use. It feels pretty comparable. Also it’s pretty easy to sharpen.

    Be careful and only use the CRK leather sheath if you ever want to carry that box elder. I made the mistake of buying a leather sheath off of amazon and by the second time I used it it had stained the wood on the knife. The CRK sheath lines the inside of the sheath so it protects the wood.

      Eeesh that’s painful but also part of the beauty of owning something like this. The dings and all gives it character

    dude, what happened to that gorgeous small box elder you had in the other video with polished blade and handle? That vid inspired me to order me a small box elder... and I'm not big into wood inlays as I always feel like I'm gonna break the wood somehow... Anyway, congrats on the new knife. She's a beaut. Are you sure that isn't glass blasted handle and maybe they marked the DOB card wrong? (it happens)

    Does need this Box Elder Wood maintenance from time to time?

    • @these7seas
      @these7seas  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe so. CRK recommends wiping it down with some oil once in a while esp if it gets exposed to salt water. But in my opinion it should hold up well to the elements considering it’s a really dense hard wood.

    The rattling of the lanyard pin is awful. I can't believe that for a knife in that price range I need to buy aftermarket parts so the knife rattling doesn't drive me crazy.

      @@jgunther3398 Don’t look at Borka knives then. You are right though, the $500 price point is where it starts getting mental. If you want the best value you can check out Hogue knives. The mini-RSK or Deka is about as much as you need for EDC.
