I’m able to play 2-3 Skirmish games in the time it takes to play 1 Warfare game. It’s awesome. There are definitely limitations but if I don’t have the time to play a full game I’m jumping on Skirmish. It’s a very good quality of life improvement.
Now all we need is a Tank Warfare game mode with 12 tanks per team.
Especially on maps like kursk, which were historically massive tank battles

I love those 90 minute games when everyone is on comms and working together, there is literally no better game. However, there are just far too many times I sit down to play for an hour and just don't have energy for a 90 minute game nor the time. So 30 minute games are ideal for people with real lives. Just focussed gameplay that people like me can play when we don't have time for those epic battles.
Also nothing is worse than slogging through a 90 minute match to get to the end and think.. wow, I didn’t even have fun. Happens too often in all these types of games.
@@CrzBonKerz21Haven't played this game in 1-2 years and got tired of spending so much time running and geting sniped, respawn, run again, killed by someone lying in a bush, respawn etc. This did not happen _all_ the time obviously, there were good moments as well. One could argue it's a skill issue, but in these types of games, like Red Orchestra, I like to setup close or behind the enemy lines to surprise gun them down and in this game it felt way too difficult to pull off and more times than not at the end of the game I felt like you said, "I didn't even have fun." which is a shame cause I like the idea and concept of the game. Might give it another try though.

Might actually get back into this game considering I hated playing a 90 minute match. Took too long. This is a god send I feel.
As a player that has been playing the game since it was released, I am happy with the skirmish mode. I work and have a family so some days my time is limited and I can't always commit to 1 1/2 hours of gameplay. I agree with Terrydactyl that nothing has changed for this mode, besides no artillery, and less armor/recon squads but other than that, gameplay was just as intense. Hopefully the rest of the maps will be released soon. I also hope that with the recent influx of new players on console, this may be a way for them to play more matches and learn, as there is only one point to control, rather than seeing the blueberries trying to recapture a lost and locked point, we shall see.
I don’t think this will be me and my mates’s favorite mode, but it is still fun and still feels like HLL.
Everyone is just over dramatic whenever anything changes in any game.

Skirmish can be good but usually most teams have no idea what they are doing so there never any Garrison's. They definitely should have added it to maps like carentan. The lack of cover on driel makes it hell, definitely needs more cover from bombing runs, especially considering the train cars are bugged and bullets go through them.
This mode is for me. Will help me into the larger main game. Well done Devs.
You can hear the bridge at driel the entire game. Like it’s gonna collapse or something. It’s the loudest sound in the game and you can hear it non stop
The audio in general is becoming very poor. Sometimes it doesn't even sound like 3D audio.
Mikey's Marauders Skirmish Mode Only server is up and running
This gamemode helps players learn how the roles play out for me. This helped me learn the commander role and also get some good exp in the other roles as well. For others may be that skirmish helped them learn the mechanics of the game it is, in opinion, a very good game mode to jump in as maybe a new or veteran player
Played a few skirmish games and found it enjoyable, however teamwork is still important and a good squad can make a big difference.
I initially thought that skirmish was pandering to the COD boys and girls. But it looks more intense game play, making you have to think.
Yes 30 min game is nice, as many others i also often don't have the time to play a full game
But also simply adding how much is left to a game in the "join game/server list" would be a good thing, so people can see how much is left, for time management but also for knowing how soon the map will change
Need this for town center Carentan and Pavolv's House on Stalingrad. The lack of cover on current maps can be annoying
I loved my first match of Skirmish. Me and my team initially did poorly, only to capture the strongpoint in the last few minutes. I also love the fact it consumes less time, since having a busy day schedule really gets to you.
I love it! We need more maps like Kharkov or SMDM
If the mode included every map on the game it would be cool but the fact its only 2 maps is wack (could be more but i only got placed on the same 2 maps)
We need a Stalingrad map in this mode.
And more Eastern Front in general.
So weird that the front where most of action happened always gets the least attention.
What I think needs a rebalance is that it should be one tank on map at a time because you can still call multiple tanks in and on driel having a mobile bunker with one dude on point is pretty strong. Especually when you got the other tank flanking the enemy tank and spawns.
This will be a great tool to have skeptical friends join the fight

Bottom line, HLL is the most amazing game I've ever played. The ONLY issue is the lack of communication and team play. (In my opinion) I love that they made the game in a way that depends on working together.... except nobody wants to anymore.
I'm really new to HLL and I like this mode. Like you I often don't have time. So a quick game or two in the evening or just before the kids get home is great. I'm still crap at the game though 😂
Seems that the only people who take issue with skirmish are the older milsim types.
But they don't seem to grasp the fact that the game needs new players in order to survive, as soon as the devs mention new content, the older guys are immediately up in arms.

HLL just needed to set a limit to the normal mode. Nothing feels more dragged out, beating a dead horse, then another 30 minutes being added to your game that was a few mins from ending. If you're unlucky it keeps happening.
It's more going in the lines of battlefield, it's hll's version on breakthrough and I love it

Imo the Skirmish mode it's good for the new players to get the idea and play style of the HLL and also allows to have a quick "HLL experience"; don't see nothing wrong with it.

I think offensive is the best mode in HLL, so I'm interested, but considering that offensive games are impossible to find, I'm not sure how different this mode will be
This seems nice add-on to HLL game modes, just a bit lighter experience of the best (blood and guts) WW2 game there is. See you on the battlefield my fellow grunts.
I just learned they released this and it’s 10am here and apparently no one wants to play this game mode on a weekday at 10:45am lol
Skirmish mode is just like server seeding for Squad, i dont see why people gotta complain abt everything so minute.

Driel was nothing but bush wookies camping farming kills, not fun at all
That’s the map, not the mode.
The bushes in the area of the Capture Point are the only cover available. Each new map they add to Skirmish will focus on a single Capture Point and each map will have points of cover that will be heavily used as a means to control the point. It’s a design feature.
I find it harder to find people with a mic in skirmish sadly😢😢😢
I think this mode will make me reinstall. The regular modes just drag on for too long with frontlines hardly moving. Also since this mode is more focused, the micless players won't be too bad of an issue.
Is the amount of experience awarded at the conclusion of a Skirmish round the same as a full Warfare/Offensive round?
That would concern me, it would be a disincentive to join a full game when trying to level up.
Who ever is working with the audio of the game needs to be questioned. The audio is getting worse with each update.
I do wonder if paying this more will help the 80% of terrible players out there to recognise that defense is actually half the game...

I had a horrible night the day it came out. felt like I was glowing and everyone was invisible, that’s more on me and the map being that new it was really hectic on Driel. I somehow how pulled out 7 kills but 22 deaths lol. It’s tough on console. Comparing you using the Thompson to me it’s a joke there’s seemingly no recoil on Pc. and then on ps5 it’s insane
That's the "power" of shooters on PC, if skilled, you can handle the recoil. Shooters are not design for a controller.

I think theres definately room for a shorter , more focused game , sometines you havent got the time or energy to face those huge long games.

Well now we can hop in a quick skirmish instead of NOT turning the game on because the thought of 90 mins is too much!.
To be honest id be happy to see skirmish shortened to 20 minutes.
Skirmish is great, we just need more maps. Especially soviet.

As you can see in this fairly scarey film they had a lot of use , and as we already have the mechanics of flame in the game AND all the tanks that were converted to flame tanks are ALREADY in the game it wouldnt take much to add them.
Straight away we have...Germany- pnzr III and pnzr II (luchs) .... America the stuart and shermans ....Russia T34, T70 ....Brits had Churchills and some shermans. (Probably experimented with others, they even had brengun carriers called wasps with flamethrowers)
Those are just the tanks that definately had flamethrower versions that we could convert. There were probably many others ive not seen.
Plus we could even convert the sdkfz 251 halfrack (the german mobile spawn vehicle) , they had a version with flamethrowers.
Just think at the moment flame throwers just arent scarey enough. We should be terrified of these weapons yet in HLL they are almost comical. Tbh i kind of wish now they hadnt bothered because trying to make them useful is a fruitless exercise at best! (Fun admittedly but pretty useless)

You can definitely steam roll just went through 2 games of it. I don’t think they should continue to change maps just based on a new mode.
Hopefully they can make us an even smaller map playing for 15mins next year.

Tried it only good point is there is an option for Warfare/offensive or skirmish servers played two games then left won’t be returning can’t really quantify it just wasn’t the same and was actually a bit boring turned it into a kill fest game please just new maps and not more of this rubbish

Played HLL for years now. This gamemode doesn't fit for me. It lacks all that this game is about for me: Tactic, pacing, making a difference to the game with that one awesome flank or push, also fighting over different objectives and parts of the map each time, planning ahead, building up positions. This game mode is dull and boring, a camper's delight and a machine gun fest, it's ONE aspect of the game (the eternal meat grind) and everything else stripped away. Especially the Driehl map is terrible with little to no cover to push against a 50 player blob. MAYBE this would have worked as planned with 25 players each. I am sincerely hoping this gamemode will not remain on the servers I play on.
